  1. That's great info to know, and that's how it should be!! That is one thing Coach Roberts instilled in us when we played for him. We didn't care who the leader rusher was or who had the most tackles week in and week out, as long as we were winning. I think Coach Slack must be doing the same thing with this group of Bobcats. We'd always say each player has to step up every week, because you never know when your time in the spotlight will come. A team is only as strong as it's weakest link, and this is a strong TEAM!! GO CATS!
  2. I think Cook will get his 150+yds on the ground, and McClure will make some spectacular plays for Tenaha as well. It may come down to who has a bigger game between Tiger's RB Choice and Bobcat's QB Sam Elliott. I've got my money on the left-handed gunslinger from Hull. (No pun intended Tombstone fans!)
  3. Sounds good to me!! GO CATS!!
  4. So thats how they won. . .smart thinkin' Just sayin that HD has more than 14 or 18 players on their team like previously mentioned in earlier posts. I was just giving you a hard time man to be honest, but I know for a fact that the four years previous to this one the schools have only played twice and of those 2 meeting Hardin won both, so I believe it is fair to say that this years Hardin team is struggling in comparison to the last 4 years. No Tarkington is definitely not a powerhouse, but with key injuries and Hardin's loss to HD I would say the Horns chances just went up. Agreed. Point taken. Good luck to both schools.
  5. I agree with you guys on this one, that HD will have their hands full with Teneha's athletes. HD usually always has speed to burn as far as small school ball is concerned, but this year's team is a more smash-mouth, run it down your throat team, with less speed than they typically have. It will be interesting to see if we can keep these Tiger playmakers from running wild. I like the fact that we're playing a 10-4 regional finalalist in pre-district, and not just some cupcake easy win. I see this being a high-scoring affair, going either way. Good luck Bobcats, and we'll be there to support you in this one!!! Win or lose, this is a good opportunity to see how we matchup with one of east texas' 1A bests.

  7. I think Hardin takes this one. Hardin is taking alot of critisism for losing to Hull-Daisetta, but HD is a pretty dang good team this year. They handled 2A's Deweyville and Warren easily in scrimages then beat Hardin in a rivalry game, so that's 3-0 against 2A teams this year. HD would crush Tarkington this year, just as they would have the past several years. Hardin has a talented team and should have no problems with the 'Horns in this one. Hardin - 36 Tarkington - 12 P.S. HD suited up 23 kids Friday night against Hardin but the last time I checked, only 11 can be on the field at one time anyway.
  8. Classy post bushpilot. I was somewhat caught up in the moment when I made those posts last night and let my emotions get the best of me. Last night's game was a classic, and exactly how small town rivalry football is supposed to be. Both teams played with class, no late hits, no smack talking, and helping each other up after plays. The back and forth momentum and never dying intensity from both teams kept everyone on the edge of their seats all night long. Mitch Villamez is an outstanding football player along with John Stelly. Hardin's little quarterback seems to be a good leader and has a decent arm, he just didn't have much time to setup and make good decisions. Both teams left it all on the field, and that's the way it's supposed to be. I think both these teams are well coached and very talented and should do well this season barring injuries. I would like to give credit to a few players who played well in my opinion which include #9 Jacob Fregia, #4 D'Andre Fountain, #72 Matt Dees, and #35 Keith Gilmore. The offensive/defensive line deserves a huge amount of credit in this one as well. Great job boys, and Coach Slack. Keep up the good work and continued success.
  9. Would you like a glass of wine with that crow? P.S. While talking about our grades, the word is "accept" :
  10. I wish I would have seen all this smack before tonight, because this is downright funny right now. That vaunted Hardin Hornet run defense let HD's big backs run through them like water through a screen. I'll go out on a limb and say HD ran for 250-300 yards, if i had to guess. I think Villamez is a good player, but he was introduced formally to Mr. Cook tonight. On more than one occasion I saw the back of poor #8's helmet be the first part of his body to make contact with the ground after The COOOKIE MONSTER rumbled right over him. Speaking of lights out, it seemed like there were a few Hornets that #69 Scotty Gilmore turned the lights out on! Stelly played tough, and was a load, but he wasn't in Aarron Cook's league tonight. Sam Elliott throwin that pretty left-handed spiral was a wonderful sight. Anyway, I'll leave it at that, and let the scoreboard do the talking. Hardin did look great in pre-game warm-ups though, I'll give 'em that! Bottom line. Hull-Daisetta - 27 Hardin - 24 P.S. Bushpilot, if you actually know Villamez, you may want to get him some psychicatric counciling, because I'm pretty sure he's going to have nightmares about a big #7 crushing his dreams of beating HD.
  11. I hope Jamaal can still decide in the 72hr period that underclassmen that have declared for the draft to come back for his senior year. Look at the backs in the draft this year. McFadden, J. Stewart, M.Hart, R.Rice, Mendenhall, F.Jones, S. Slayton and the list goes on and on. He's probably barely a top 10 back in the draft which puts him into the 3rd round or later. Hopefully he can still come back and not go into the draft. His stock would certainly be higher next season. Besides Beanie Wells from Ohio State, I dont' see any backs that may be in next years draft that are head and shoulders above Jamaal. This year is a different story. A friend of mine from Liberty, Reggie White was a very good RB at Oklahoma State several years back. After a great junior year he declared for the draft. He was a "projected" middle round pick. Certain circumstances helped influence this decision including a young back at OSU named Tatum Bell that he would share time with him during his senior season. He declared and went undrafted and bounced around as a free agent and never really stuck anywhere. I'm not saying this will happen to J.Charles, but you should project as a top 3 round player or not take the chance if you still have eligibility left. Just my opinion.
  12. We'll see that in a week or so. How do you like your crow cooked????
  13. Cool deal, good luck to the Oilers. You guys can definitely win this game. Looks like a full week of HS playoffs for me. WH vs. WS in K-ville thursday night, follwed by HD vs. Groveton in Huntsville Friday night and then WO-S vs. Coldsprings in Dayton on Saturday. Can't Wait. Good Luck to all the local SETEX teams!!!
  14. I'd take HD's chances with Coach Slack. He was a 4.4 guy at tailback but that was about 15 years and 50lbs. ago!! ;D
  15. I like the following picks: 1. Buna vs. East Chambers (EC wins 34-33) 2. Liberty vs. Cleveland (Liberty scores with under a min to take the lead, only to have Cleveland score on a 4th and long hook and ladder play as time expired) 3. HD vs. WH (HD wins 28-22 after WH had a 13-0 lead. Oilers score late and almost get the onside kick)
  16. "Wild Broncos buck thier Indian riders in horrible massacre" "F-16 Hornets launch a suprise areial assult on Winnie, led by Top-Gun Pilot Jordan Nolan" "Oakland Raiders replace Lumberton in hopes of winning, but become Dog Food as well" "Lions roar can be heard across SE Texas as Kountze wins and gets help for playoff berth" "Silsbee lottery winner donates 1 million to HD fan after StevieRay gets his cut"........Lottery winner cites HD's unfortunate playoff road that must go through Groveton and Alto in RD's 1 and 2 as reason for donation.
  17. Tremain Thomas reminds me alot of T.J. White that played FB and BB at East Chambers back in the mid 90's. Tremain is alot more fundamentally sound in alot of stuff he does but a real similarity between the two as far as being explosive athletes.
  18. So is Ethan Tubbs out for sure? I was really impressed with that kid. I don't know the extent of his injury but I sure hope he can play against the Tigers. West Sabine isn't as good as they were last season and WH took it down to the wire with them last year in the playoffs. Good luck Oilers and represent the district well in the playoffs.
  19. Ahh, I agree as a player, but not as a fan. Just right for me to see the Bobcats win in Huntsville Friday night over Groveton, and then get to come home and drive 20 minutes to see the Mustangs handle up on Coldsprings in Dayton on Saturday. I like it!!!
  20. Wasn't this thread done with after the Bobcats layed the smack down on the Oilers last friday night? It's over, get over it, move on. Maybe you can go talk to the Professor and borrow his Delorian and go back to 2006 when Zach was running up and down the field on HD and the Oilers won the district championship, but for us "normal" folks, Hull-Daisetta is the District Champs baby. As far as bad "sportmen ship", I think both teams had a lack of discipline friday night, but that's ok, it's a big time rivalry and it's supposed to be that way. And by the way, who gives a crap about basketball. Hull-Daisetta has always been an average basketball school and the rivalry goes back and forth with WH on court supremacy.
  21. Since Hull-Daisetta is in a 5 team district, that allows for alot of outside competiton. I'd like to see the following schedule: 1A Groveton (longtime playoff rival) 2A Kountze (had some good games against improved Lions team) 2A Deweyville (old district rival) 2A Hardin (besides WH, HD's biggest rivaly) 1A Burkeville (been down lately, but usually a strong 1A) Alternates: 3A Tarkington (weak 3A) 2A Anahauc (old rivalry that goes back years) 2A Warren (another old district foe) 2A Newton (why not......lol) That'd give HD a strong out of district schedule. Three 2A schools, Groveton (who may back to 2A) and Burkeville. Get rid of the THREE private schools (Legacy, Westbury Christ., and Galveston O'Connell) and Buna. Buna is way too much for HD now after years of playing competitive games with the Cougars. Anahauc would bring some intrigue with Coach Barbay now there, and that's a long time matchup. Tarkington needs to have a chance to beat somebody, and maybe they'd play a good game against 1A HD. Newton, well.....nevermind on that one ;D Although it may prepare us for Alto in the playoffs. We may go 1-4 or most likely 2-3/3-2 but it'd be better than playing totally inferior teams or way overpowering teams.
  22. You can take one team off that list that Kirbyville would have to go through. Mart just turned in an official enrollment of 183 students . With last year's 1A cutoff at 194 and expected to be a little higher this year, it's good bye 2A, hello 1A for them Mart boys. Just when it was lookin good for HD, with Groveton looking like they'll go back to 2A, Alto turnin in low numbers that would put them in the small school playoff bracket and here comes Mart........... :'(
  23. Hardin, Kountze and Lumberton have all had amazing seasons compared to last year. I'll have to say Hardin though. For a team to go from from 2-8, winless in district (i believe), to finishing 8-2 or 9-1 and already clinched a playoff berth. That is not topped by any team in the area.
  24. I will agree with you on one point. Perception is reality. Your opinion will not change and neither will mine. You have not been in the planning sessions and worked through the issues that occur within the schools. Looking in, you do not understand what goes on and we cannot explain. All you can make is a poor decision about people and the job they do. I challenge you to get into coaching and be an educator.
  25. hd bobcat9, Please answer my questions. I would like to know. All you have stated is opinion and innuendo. Please enlighten all of non football gurus.
