  1. I stand corrected. I was totally wrong on HD's offensive line averaging 225lbs. It appears that after further research it's much bigger than that. Yancey McCauley is 300lbs, Garth Roth is 225lbs, Matt Dees is 200lbs,Patrick Davis is 200lbs and TE Tre Dickerson is 230lbs . I know these are starting lineman for HD. We also have Shawn Alford that is listed at 300lbs and John Luster who's listed at 265lbs. I'm not sure which of these kids are starters, not as familiar with their names. So lets, see I'll do the math........ that's 1720 total lbs divided by 7 offensive lineman = 246lbs each. That's without Scottie Gilmore who was a 2way starter last year who's 240lbs who transferred to Kountze. I appologize once again, and no i didnt' count anyone twice Don't forget our starting fullback Aaron Cook is 230lbs and our starting tailback Tyree Patterson is 210lbs. HD does have a ton of speed, but we're not as near as small as most folks think.
  2. Actually Zach and Thomas begged not to move to West Hardin. They might not admit that now, since they are Oiler Pride, but it's the truth. But hey it worked out good for the two them. HD can take the pounding and there's no way WH is as good this year as they were last year. It's not like you guys have a line like Buna or anything. I think our average lineman is 225lbs, so they can't be that much bigger than our kids. We'll see here in a few days. Wise one, I'm not sure when Zach and Thomas moved, but it sure seemed later on than that. Regaurdless they were here long enough to know what tradition and school pride is all about. They apparently took that (and some damn good athletisim) with them to West Hardin. And you honestly can't tell me that West Hardin was better than Hull-Daisetta without them having Zach Simmons. If you remember, I'm pretty sure the game was something like 12-6 going into the 4th quarter, with Zach being the only Oiler to really do anything against the Bobcats in the first 3 quarters. He scored 4 touchdowns in the 4th quarter. Three of them were almost single handed jobs. He broke tackles in the backfield all night. Tubbs is a decent running back, but there's no way he did anything close to what Zach was able to do. He rushed for something like 250yards and 5 TD's!!! You're just gonna slide a backup in and he's gonna put up those kinda numbers because of your DOMINANT offensive line. Please, Zach was a one man wrecking crew. I'm sure the folks at West Sabine know that too now after what he did to them in the playoffs. Look, we can sit here and beat a dead horse all night arguing whether WH would have beat HD without him, but the point is, he's gone. Ethan Tubbs is not in the same league as Zach Simmons. Copeland isnt' the quaterback that Lestinger was either. HD has their whole team back. Tyree Patterson, Adrian Anderson, Anthony Walker, Sam Elliot, Tre Smith, Aaron Cook, Tre Dickerson and throw in the fastest player in 1A in Anthony Brooks. Those are all first team all-district selections as sophs and juniors last year. Too much talent not to win. West Hardin has had a great run against HD, but it's ending Friday night. Bottome line. I think I will make a personal trip to field house myself before the game to help get the boys fired up and reenforce the magnitude of this game. HD WILL NOT LOSE!!
  3. Come on Big Dog, you know good and well, HD's got a lot of local kids playing at other schools right now as well. We do have a couple transfers that are difference makers this season, but kids always move around in our area. Hardin has a couple homegrown Daisetta kids this year, the least of which isn't Jordan Nolan who's leads the Houston area in passing and has led Hardin to their best start ever. He might have helped more than the Liberty guys have this year. Liberty has a couple HD kids playing this year as well. I'm sure West Hardin has some HD kids this year too. Actually, probably not, most kids unless no other option was available wouldnt' move from HD to WH. I really want you to think hard about this one. Think of the 4 victories that West Hardin has had in the past 5 years over HD. Who was the Oilers big time player? Who was the backbone of the team and the main reason they were able to win. A couple kids by the name of Simmons?? Yeah, that's right, Thomas and Zach Simmons, who were raised in Daisetta (for as long as I can remember)and moved to West Hardin later on. Hell last year Zach, as much as you can in football, single handedly beat HD. He's the reason you guys won. In all 4 victories Thomas or Zach was the leading rusher and scorer in each of those games. I know they were Daisetta boys because they were my next door neighbors!!! Hell, I tought em how to be tough in my yard when they were youngsters, I was in HS when they were JH and elementry aged. We maybe should have called those teams the West Hardin Oilers Led by Bobcats. And as far as you go Mustang what creditbility do you have? Are you a coach? Did you even play football in high school? That's right, you were the starting waterboy as a junior for the Oilers back in '93 before losing your job to the "special" kid your senior year. Hull-Daisetta will crush the Oilers this year. No Zach Simmons, No Problem.
  4. Hey mustang, you finally made everyone reading one of your posts laugh. This is probably the funniest thing I've read in weeks!!!! :o :o Good luck on that prediction. Go Bobcats!!
  5. Cleveland/Tarkington does make alot of sense to me as well. The Hull-Daisetta ISD already contains all of Hull (all the way to the Hardin Co. line, which is where WH's district begins), all of Daisetta, and all of Raywood. Devers has it's own elementry and junior high and the high school students in Devers have the option of going to Hull-Daisetta or Liberty. From what I understand it's pretty split right now and there's not a huge makeup of HS kids from Devers anyway. I think HD's boundries are as far as they can go.
  6. Earlier in the thread the Hull-Daisetta, Hardin, Liberty merger idea came up. I know for a fact, that it's been discussed at length from the "higher ups" about this possiblity. From what I've heard is that Liberty County has six school districts and only two of them are "making money" or breaking even, whatever that means. Dayton and Hardin (or Tarkington) are the only two that are doing well running independently. The initial idea was to have a super merger of Liberty County and only have two school districts. HD,Hardin and Liberty and Dayton, Tarkington, and Cleveland. Basically you'd have a North Liberty Co. High and a South Liberty Co. High or something to that effect. Later it was supposedly said that Dayton should remain on it's own, due to the rapid increase in enrollment over the last few years, and it doesnt' look like it's going to change anytime soon, so Tarkington and Cleveland would merge. Still cutting the school districts in half throughout the county. This makes alot of sense to me. I dont' know if I'm a fan of it, but it would work. HD, Liberty and Hardin are basically in a triangle geographically from each other. From what I understand, all the elementry schools and junior highs in current locations would stay in tact and a new high school would be built. I'm sure some of the current locations would be shut down, that's the point, to save the state/county some money. HD's junior high in Raywood and Hardin's elementry are two of the older facilities that would most likely close, possibly amongst others. The three current high schools would either serve as a 9-10th grade school for it's local community or would somehow be used for other grades and allow the possiblity of closing other campus' that are older and need improvements. A couple locations being considered for this new Super School are Hwy 834 between Hardin and Hull or FM2830N which is pretty much exactly in the middle of all locations with access from FM160 (HD folks from Raywood, Hull, and Daisetta, and Liberty enrollment from Ames and Devers) and HWY 146 which would serve as a route from Liberty and Hardin from respective directions. That location (if it was the chosen one and could be obtained) is about +- 9 miles from HD HS, 6 miles from Hardin HS and 7 miles from Liberty HS, give or take on all of them. That's not too big of a deal to me, especially if local JH's and Elementry's would stay available for each community, basically merging only the HS's. At current enrollments, Liberty is at 672, Hardin at 369, and HD at 183 would give the new highschool an enrollment of 1224 students, placing it somewhere in the small/middle size of 4A in the area. Hello PN-G, Nederland ect. If the three north Liberty Co. schools merged, it would create an enrollment of 2835 students, which would be dead center among 5A enrollments in the area. Dayton, Tarkington and Cleveland would be a similar merger and could even be done easier since a location on FM 321 north of Dayton would make all the sense in the world. If Dayton stayed independent (which would most likely happen), Cleveland and Tarkington's enrollments would combine to make 1396 students, a middle of the line 4A as well. If this was to happen, it would be something to see. That'd mean all schools in Liberty county would be 4A's with the two new merged schools joining Dayton in the ranks. Wanna talk about some instant rivalries!!! Not to mention what that would mean to 4A's in the local Beaumont area including Lumberton, Nederland, PN-G, Ozen, Central and so on. I think it'd be pretty cool myself. Just some food for thought. Sorry to ramble on so long, but this is pretty interesting to me and maybe it will be to some of you guys as well. I think that HD, Liberty, Hardin combo might be able to make some noise down the road. (after all the fistfights were over with after the first week of opening the new school)!!!!!
  7. This one's probably gonna get real ugly, real quick. Buna by: "whenever they decide to pull the starters" otherwise known as as much as they want.
  8. I think the Cats are gonna win this one. ( I do have somewhat of a biased opinion though ) If the Bobcats come out like they really want it in front of the homefield crowd, they will take the victory. If WH steps up and makes HD go 3 and out on a couple series in a row, then it will be a long hard fought game. HD's offensive/defensive line has to step up in this game. WH's line is much better than anyone else we've played in the district including Evadale's. I'll take speed over power in this one. It's gonna come down to who plays there game and sets the tempo. If HD can get their guys in space, and to the sidelines (turning it into a "track meet") it's all over but the crying. If the Oilers come out and put together one of their patented 13 play, 75 yard scoring drives that eats up about 8 or 9 minutes off the clock, they will be in control. The Cats have had problems sustaining long drives and have relied too much on the big play, running and passing. My personal opinion is that so far this season WH has played harder than HD. Maybe the kids from West Hardin have more heart, maybe their coaching staff has done a better job of motivating them, or maybe they've just had more to play for, but if HD comes out and plays with heart and desire they will take it going away. If not, it could be a long boring night for HD fans watching the Oilers methodically rumbling up and down the field. My pick: Hull-Daisetta - 32 West Hardin - 18
  9. My score was probably incorrect. A friend called who had passed by Hardin's stadium and saw it was 7-6. Thought it was 7 on the visitors side of the scoreboard. Must have been Hardin up 7-6. Not important now since the Hornets reeled off 3 unanswered TD's.
  10. HD put a few starters back in to run out the clock and avoid fumbles. HD had their big fullback Araron Cook in to run dives to run out the clock. Unfortunately on the 4th of these inside gives, Cook looks up and nobody was around after he busted through the line. 25 yards later he found himself in the endzone with 45 seconds to go. Hull-Daisetta Bobcats - 47 Sabine Pass Sharks - 6 FINAL SCORE.
  11. Less than 2 minutes to play in the game. Sharks vs. Bobcats JV and backups are tied 6-6 in the second half!!!
  12. So the Bucs are 3 for 3 on last plays of the quarter!!!!
  13. Touchdown Sharks!! One yard TD run. XP is no good. HD - 40 SP - 6
  14. HD has called off the dogs after taking a 34 point lead into halftime. Kevin Thompson (freshman i believe) with a 60 yard TD run late in the third. XP no good. Bobcats - 40 Sharks - 0 Big story of the game now is the parking lot situation. Four or five vehicles (of HD fans) have been broken into and several tires have been slashed > Cops are all over the place and there's some upset HD folks.
  15. Kountze - 7 Hardin - 6 2nd qtr.
  16. I wish I was at this game :'(
  17. After recieving the free kick from the Sharks, HD makes a couple big runs, then Anthony Walker finishes the drive with a 25 yard TD reception. XP is good. HD - 34 SP - 0 4:05 in 2nd qtr. :-\
  18. On the next play, HD swarms a Shark ballcarrier in the backfield for a safety.... 27-0 HD with 5:25 left to HT.
  19. It could get that way quickly. Sabine Pass steps up and has a big defensive stand against the Bobcats. HD is stopped inside the 1 yard line on 3rd and goal. HD goes for it with a QB sneak, and the Sharks shut it down inside a foot of the goal line. Big play by the Sharks D!!!
  20. A. Brooks with another TD run, this time from 60 yards out. XP IS GOOD!!! Hull-Daisetta - 25 Sabine Pass - 0 1:07 left in 1st qtr.
  21. Maybe I should do quarter updates ??? Anthony Brooks 25 yard TD run for HD. 0 for 3 on 2pt attempts for the cats. Hull-Daisetta - 18 Sabine Pass - 0 5:43 left in 1st qtr.
  22. 55 yard TD run by Adrian Anderson. 2PT conversion fails again Bobcats - 12 Sharks - 0 8 min left in the 1st qtr. Before I could post this update, Anthony Walker catches a 40 yard TD pass for the Cats. It's called back though for illegal man downfield. Score stays the same.
  23. 35 yard TD pass to Tre Smith of the Bobcats 2PT conversion no good HD - 6 SP - 0
  24. It'll be over by halftime. HD by 40+ :-\
  25. Man, if Newton would only play Hull-Daisetta it would so be on!! We'd run up and down the field on those guys. They're so un-talented it's pathetic. They have terrible athletes, no winning history, and a horrible head coach. HD would slaughter the Eagles!!! OOOOPS, sorry guys, I just woke up. I must have been dreaming. Something rediculous about HD beating Newton, and them not being any good. My response to your comment about HD gettin a little of the purple eagles, is absolutely NO THANK YOU!! Maybe 15 years ago and back, but not nowadays. We here at Hull-Daisetta appreciate the offer, but I think we'll pass on that one.
