  1. Good job Oilers. The Bobcats will try our hand at the SP Sharks this coming week.
  2. you get my pm with my phone number?
  3. didn't get it bro..... Oil drums...i like that. Makes me think they are even slower. And just to let you know, our two starting halfbacks go 220lbs and 225lbs.
  4. Brent, what's up brother?? I knew on that last comment it was somebody that had to have known who I was.....lol. I like the plug for little bro too (talent of that Mosley kid ) You been alright man? WH's lookin tough this year, and that should make for an interesting show down for the district championship. It's gettin close to Nov. 3rd bro, it should be a good one this year. ---BIG DOGG---
  5. I totally agree with you CardinalFan. Stupid penalties will kill us in a close game as it already has against Danbury, with the Cats losing 20-18. We have about 7 sophmores that start both ways so we are a very young team as well. I think we only have 2 seniors that are normal starters. That's not an excuse though, we have to get that fixed. I also agree with your point about team speed. This year's team can flat out fly, and I'm hoping that will be the difference maker against West Hardin in a couple weeks. We're not taking Evadale lightly though, we know they've got some big, tough kids who will come out fired up. We'll see how it goes tomorrow night. Cardinals get some rest this week and be ready after the bye week, and good luck to you guys the rest of the season.
  6. West Hardin please just make sure SP has enough kids still healthy to play HD next week!!! West Hardin - 42 Sabine Pass - 6
  7. I started this thread, but I gotta add my .02 cents. I think Evadale is a little better than most folks are giving them credit for this year. They will make the playoffs in the lowly 5 team district as the 3rd place team. They were down 6-0 to West Hardin at the half. I really dont' think any team in the district besides West Hardin will score on the Bobcats this year. After crushing High Island 51-0 last week (43-0 at the half before calling off the dogs and telling the kids not to score anymore) , the Cats will pitch another shutout (and then another one next week vs. Sabine Pass) Hull-Daisetta - 36 Evadale - 0
  8. For most teams in the district, i.e.>> Hull-Daisetta Bobcats. The Oil-cans roll in this one. Sabine Pass is just outmatched in every position. Getting closer to Nov.3rd HD @ WH
  9. Hull-Daisetta fans know where Hemphill and Pineland are. We used to be in the same district as you guys. The Hornets were very tough when I was in school. My sophmore year ('94) we tied Hemphill 6-6 for the district championship. That was the year of the big flood and we almost couldnt' get up there to play.
  10. Lets hear what everyone thinks about this 1A district matchup. HD @ Evadale
  11. Good luck to the Cardinals as well and as we know.....anything can happen. That's why we play the games
  12. 1. Rudy ("Rudy can have my jersey coach") 2. The Program (" I can read...see that, it says Adidas") 3. Varsity Blues ("Oopty oop, your dumios can't run a simple dive") 4. Remember the Titans (" Who's your Daddy??") And last but not least, I can remember watching this movie as a kid (like 7 years old) back in the day because it was the only football movie we had on video. I watched it over and over and couldnt' wait to play high school football and become part of a team, and be bad 5. Wildcats - starring Goldie Hawn, the daughter of a famous highschool football coach, who takes over as head football coach of an innercity school full of wild characters including LL Cool J, and film debuts by Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.
  13. We've played Buna and Kountze (HD) and in my mind there's really no comparison. We physically dominated Kountze from the opening whistle (winning 22-0) and then Buna turned around and did the same thing to us. (beating us 34-0) I think Buna just had a terrible game against Anahauc is the only reason they lost that one. I know Coach Hodges well at Kounzte and he's a great coach and motivator and I know his boys will be ready for the Coogs. Anything can happen in this wild and crazy district, but my money will be on Buna, and in my opinion it wont' even be close. Buna - 38 Kountze - 6
  14. Yep Danbury gets the win 20-18. Good hardfought game from what I understand. A bunch of our kids were still letdown from the Buna game. We gotta get past this slump. Buna was just a flat out better team that HD, but this game the Bobcats should have won goin away. No excuses though, great job by Danbury and the Cats will be ready for district play come this Friday night.
  15. About to head that way.... East Chambers - 38 Deweyville - 14
  16. @ Winnie for EC vs. DV Bringin' a few HD boys along to watch our old district rivals get it on!!
  17. I saw Cosby hit Wilkerson on tape....whew that was nasty. Biggest hit I ever saw live was in a game I was playing in. Cory Broussard from HD hit a Splendora RB and just destroyed him on a quick give. Broussard was a basketball player (6'1" 170lb maybe) and wasnt' known as a hitter on the team. The first thing that hit the ground was the back of the dude's helmet. He broke through the line of scrimmage with the ball, and then out of no-where comes Broussard who had about a 12 yard full run at him. Kid pops right up (somehow) and takes like 4 steps and falls down. He's out, knocked out cold. Trainers come in with the smelling salts tryin to get him up, and it's not working. We're on a knee giving Cory props for the big hit, thinkin' the guy's fine, just REALLY got his bell rang. Well that wasnt' the case. The game is delayed for about 40 minutes taking care of him. LIFE-FLIGHT lands on our practice field beside the stadium. They load him up and fly him to Houston. Cory was freakin' out because we didnt' know what the deal was. We were told that the impact was so great that it made his heart skip a beat, and get off rythm and messed him up big time. Game continued and we lost 28-25, and it was Homecoming. After a day or two in Herman the kid got out and was supposedly ok, but couldnt' play anymore. That hit was so scary, it just makes you realize that serious injuries can happen in this game. Since the guy's ok now (from what I understand), that's why I shared this story. If anyone was at Hull-Daisetta's homecoming at '95, they'll remember that one for life.
  18. Yes sir, 10 years ago and all my buddies from EC still bring it up when I see them....lol. It was probably one of if not my best individual game I ever played, but it didnt' matter one bit because we lost
  19. My junior year we delt with a pile of injuries early on in district and lose to West Sabine 14-13. We go on to shutout undefeated Hemphill who was ranked #8 in the state and a huge favorite. We play East Chambers in the final week. We win, we're district champs, we lose, no playoffs. EC went up 36-21 midway through the 4th quarter led by TJ White, Jeff Ward, Jason Thomas and Co. With about 4 mins left in the game Kory Brett throws me a dump pass which I take to the house from about 25yards out making it 36-29 EC after the two point conversion is good. We kick an onside kick and I blast EC QB (and good friend of mine) Hank Hargraves causing the mishandle and we recover. Bobcat nation is going nuts. Brett completes a couple crazy passes including one that is a sure pick that bounces up and into Bobcat backup QB/WR Jason Sullivans hands for a 1st down on 4th and 12. With right at a minute left Brett hits me again on a drag and I barely break the plain after a collision with two Buc defenders. The fans are really going nuts now. Game is 36-35 EC with after point pending. Game was tied on penetrations but they had us on first downs so we had to go for two. K.Brett bobbles the snap, scoops it up and falls about a foot short of the goal line. East Chambers wins 36-35 and makes the playoffs as second place team, Hemphill gets the district championship and we go home  I guess that one was so tough since I took it personal that we didnt' win that one. Hemphill took our slot in the playoffs and went on to the 3rd round of the playoffs. East Chambers went on to dominate our district for the next 6 or 7 years after that. It hurt even worse because my future college roommate (Chad Benoit) played TE and blocked me 1 on 1 all night long. I heard that story over and over for years to come!!! The second story happened about 3 or 4 years ago in Daisetta again. HD had lost a district game just like in the previous situation. They were playing Anahauc basically for 3rd place and a trip to the playoffs. Everyone thought if we beat the Panthers we make the playoffs. The deal was we had to beat them by a certain amount of points. HD scores with less than a minute left in the game to go up 26-14 I believe. We go for two and they stuff us at the goal line. We had to win by more than 13 and they stop us and we win by 12. Anahauc gets a spot in the playoffs even though HD wins against them. Weirdest thing I've ever seen. Anahauc's kids are going nuts after HD wins the game. That one was a heartbreaker. Sorry I took up so much space, but had to give you guys who'll take the time to read it the details War Bobcats
  20. I believe it was 186 rushing and 132 passing for Hunington. I think the Oiler's offense is very capable with all their guys playing, but the defense appears to be shaky. Kountze had almost 300 yards rushing against WH (and that was after 4 of their best athletes, basketball guys left the team).
  21. Folks here in HD miss being in district will DV and EC too (although it's a little easier goin down here in 1A). Lot's of buddies made as i played against East Chambers and Deweyville in district football and basketball from my 7th grade year all the way to graduation. That's how close friends are made on the field/court, meeting every year for 6 years straight. I hate how all this redistricting goes on sometimes. Deweyville seems to have more team speed than they've had in a while (I played against Levi and Logan Moore, so I know they can produce speed), but I think East Chambers will be too much in this one for the pirates. One ship will sink and I'm bettin on it being DV's. Good luck to both teams and I'll be there cheering on each team and lookin for old friends. Buccaneers: 38 Pirates : 14
