who won -
I dont have dog in this fight but I do know a few of the kids that play on the baytown team. They are pretty solid but no idea how they compare to any of the other teams. I know they pounded everyone at the tournament in Willis. I neve did find a bracket or website for any of those games, does pony not have a good website? Where is the website and links for the deer park tourney? Games, what is your team named?

Word is a kid from Baytown hit 81 on the radar gun at the rice baseball camp that is on their 13 year old team.
-
Baytowns 13's won their district tourney in Conroe last weekend. They are stacked as well, should be a good sectional in Deer Park in a few weeks.
-
Who won the sectional the 11's from that area came from? And why in the world didnt the 12's pick up the two kids throwing mid 70's? Seems like they should have been playing on the team that can go all the way. I just threw my comments out there because people were doubting the 70's mark...just saying I have seen it once in the galveston to nasa to baytown area with my own gun. Also wondering who won that sectional because the team that won our sectional (3) won Texas East State as 11's so they were bound to match up at some point.

Guys I have a radar gun, a jugs gun from when I played. I sat right behind home plate for last weekends pre tournament at friendswood. I clocked one kid at 70-75...he throws that hard but is that wild as well. I didnt get anyone else the whole tourney over 66 and that was a kid from friendswood. I clocked one lefty from galveston at 64-65. everyone else was 58-63. The kid that threw 75 looks like he is 16 and plays MLB on the football team. He is just a freak athlete that will be playing college or pro ball somewhere if he stays out of trouble.

Wow you dont see mid 70's much..i saw a kid in a tournament this past weekend in friendswood that hit 75 on the gun...most of the pitchers were 58-65

Golden Triangle vs Bay Area: 4A Baseball

The Baytown Knights seem to have some better coaching these days with Rupp, Tadlock, Kade Johnson, and Shane Nance. They were not around when I came thru, in fact planty was still coaching Colt League which has since died. I played with the Houston Wildcats who at that time were kind of the premier group along with the a few others. (not sure what happened to jax grill jaybirds, the pasadena stars, and the kyle chapman teams). One of my coaches was Phil Cross who is now onboard with the heat and president of baseball usa. At one time Chris Sampson and Kade were going to build a Baseball USA type field in Baytown but around that time Chris got pulled up to the Astros so his priorities changed. We could really use one. It has hard for me to believe the city let jenkins park go, when lee college played there it was a really really nice place. -

I think the little league system is part of the problem in Baytown. Why we have 4 leagues is beyond me. Just imagine the allstar teams we would have had if we had 2 leagues. East and Central still hold their own but add in a few north leaguers and west leaguers and it would be a different deal. When I came through at RSS, PNG was in our district as was jefferson, and of course west brook and central....I never was impressed with PNG even though they had some good players in 95-96. The district crown we claimed was really just between us, WB and REL. -
Let's have this discussion again in a year or two. However, if you only base a players ability to be "great" on MPH, you have missed the boat completely. True...but being able to reach back and hit 90 in addition to being able to pitch is lethal..IE hitting spots, changing speeds etc...sure makes those mistakes harder to hit too But you are right, a lot of these guys are young. When I was a soph I hit 82 on a "RAY" gun which they say you add about 5 MPH to for a jugs gun...as a JR I hit 89 on a jugs...as a SR 91...so it comes with maturity...which may even come later in college...Know one guy that threw 92-93 4 years after he finished college but when in college was 88-90
-
Wow is that you Patriot? haha...welcome back wow about the pitching...when I played in the mid 90's we had 3 guys on staff that were 87-91 with two others that were 84-86

Where is this dekaney school? Never heard of it but was expecting a score like that after the scrimmage results a couple of weeks ago. -

I was up there watching this game in which memorial dominated, at the end of the game all heck broke loose...there were multiple fights that got really out of hand....I dont know whose fault it was but PA seemed to be understaffed on the coaching side and could not control their kids....the two coaches they did have were cussing loudly and screaming at the kids...it was bad on both side...what makes it even worse was there was two youth league football teams that had just taken the ends of the field to start practice...they had to run like heck to get out of the way.....
