  1. 180,000 is not chump change to a district HJ size. These districts run very tight budgets. That is about how much they will have to scrounge together to pay for a modest raise each year. But I agree that if it was a proirity it would get done. Seems pretty obvious what the emphasis is in Hawk country as far as facilities are concerned.
  2. Yes he is! Congrats Gibby! I will have to come watch a game or two this year.
  3. Manvel will be promoting Kevin Hall to HC. Word has it he won’t be the only former Jasper player/coach at Manvel next year...
  4. No Jasper kids...must be a weak senior crop.
  5. Good baseball teams in this tourney. All will benefit from this competition level. Central Heights very good as usual it seems bullard is team i am not familiar with.
  6. 1A Legget Pirates-These guys are tough and this little town loves their basketball 2A Shelbyville Dragons—First trip since the early 80’s when Coach Schillings’ team won their 2nd State title 3A (EC and Kountze didn’t let us down but came up a bit short) Next year one will make it! 4A Silsbee Tigers—battle tested, peaking and ready to repeat 5A Port Aurthur Memorial Titans Is this the beginning of a revival in PA basketball? Congrats to them all, and great news for those from our area making the tourney trip. Best of luck to each team.
  7. They aren’t even ranked locally. Jasper have some new talent this year or are they just being underestimated?
  8. 564 yards, 4td and a state record passing yards in championship game against the "loaded" manvel team full of div 1 singees. I guess "nothing" was good enough for back to back titles.
  9. Ouch...the name brand kid showed he is more than just a name.
  10. 7 dunks is a lot at any level.
  11. I saw that too. The wore them down the 2nd half like the great teams do. Henderson has a fine program as well.
  12. Nobody is discrediting Carthage..as I stated I don't believe they have an offense that is unparalleled in history of 4A football, and gave a couple examples of at least some that are equal to the current unbelievably talented Carthage offense. Do you think this Carthage offense is head and shoulders above any offense in 4A history?
  13. The # of kids that went D-I from the skill positions on those teams speak for themselves. No doubt Carthage will have more than just the RB go play on Saturdays too. I agree that is hard to compare apples to oranges, I just take exception to saying that 4A has never seen an offense like this..Gilmer and Navasota are just two that I can think of that were as good or better than Carthage. Burnet with McGee and Shipley were pretty special too. Liberty Hill has two of the top ten all-time rushing totals in the country. 2004 the team rushed for 7221 yards. I believe two guys over 2k yards and 2 more at or over 1K yards. 2006 team had 6446. Once again two guys at or over 2k yards.
  14. I saw them too. They rarely went more than 3 or 4 plays without taking it all the way. They were unbelievable.
  15. I would imagine there are a few programs that would rival this one. Gilmer has had more than one team that was unstoppable on offense. I think Navasota was close to that a few years back as well. WO-S doesn't get as much publicity on offense as they should because their defense is so good. Gilmer 2014 950 points Navasota 2014 921 points WO-S 2016 811 points only 69 allowed Carthage 615 points with 3 games to go. That is prolific but has been seen before.
  16. wonder who my friends from Bobo and Blair will be pulling for? What a huge game for Shelby County.
  17. Not offended, won't get in a back and forth. Hope next weeks game is as close to me as this one was, and it is as exciting as that one was.
  18. Don't reduce Madisonville's efforts to a couple blown plays by WO-S. It was more than that and anyone there knows it. The better Mustangs won, but the others one played their butts off in all phases of the game.
  19. Game was as I predicted, a dangerous one for WO-S. I don't think the next one will be as much of a challenge, especially if it is Bellville. Don't know anything about Salado, but WO-S will destroy Bellville. Madisonville played a heck of a game. Their offense made some big plays, Merchant is a stud. Not many running backs can break through tackles against WO-S the way he did. WO-S speed chased those kickoff returns, and that was a game saver in hindsight. Madisonville d-line #51 is a very good player. Not much to say about WO-S, they withstood a stiff test and showed why they are the best. The bent but didn't break. I felt WO-S did a very good job mixing up the offensive play calling to keep the chains moving. Seems they did use qb sparingly on the ground through most of the night though. WO-S struggled to bring down Merchant at times, but had several huge plays and many solid hits all over the field. Keep it going WO-S, probably a couple more just like this one before you can claim that 3-peat.
  20. Madisonville is big, physical and lots of speed at the rb positions. O-line is a strength. Hard to gauge defense in the game I saw. This is a dangerous game for WO-S. Think the Stangs win though.
  21. Not sure if it was a record, but it was a crazy high scoring game, just like everyone thought it was going to be.
  22. Good prediction.
