  1. Did that play knock the qb out for the rest of the game? That was a pure punk hit. No doubt Silsbee's coach will deal with it and I am sure Barbay and him have already discussed both that play and any taunting that happened. You see way too much of both of those types of things these days.
  2. Hate seeing the Dogs fade in a game like that. And 2nd week in a row they have a shot at the end and do very little with it. Looks like the pieces are there to do well. Coaches will figure out where to put and how to use those pieces. Congrats to Silsbee. Always a great atmosphere when these two play.
  3. Having seen Crosby and being very familiar with BH program I feel capable of adding some color. Crosby's speed will hurt BH. They have at a couple athletes that are as fast as they come. BH is more physical than Jasper was this past Friday. I don't see Crosby's o-line having as much success as they had and Crosby having to go around moreso than through. Look for sweeps, shuffle passes, reverses and screens from Crosby to get to the open field.
  4. Newton isn't playing this game. It will be a good one. I think Silsbee had plenty of skill players to make it a long night for Jasper on defense. Jasper has the ability to grind it out on the ground. It very well may come down to who plays the cleanest game.
  5. LOL. I am done. Good luck to Crosby the rest of the way.
  6. On-sides are part of the game. Good coaching and execution. Don't hold and TD's stand (both of those calked back were on the same drive btw) And Crosby had maybe 1 less 4th down attempt than Jasper Here how it should work after a great game: Crosby looked every bit as advertised They were very talented on offense. The young qb had moments where he showed serious skill The rb was in a class by himself on the field. Jasper's offense executed nicely with some nice runs and good usage of their TEs. I think Jasper's O-Line did an amazing job. Crosby defense are excellent tacklers and play aggressive. I think there is a lot more potential there than some of their fans think. It isnt often when jasper plays teams with that kind of speed and a defense that brings the lumber the way they did Very glad Texanlive posted the game for us to watch It was worth the watch We aren't Manvel but I am quite certain we gave Crosby plenty of film to analyze and get better by
  7. Hate follows a lack of respect. Hate isn't what you are sensing though, it is called "cover up". You are like a teflon crawfish. Nothing going to stick to you and you have a million routes of escape before you will ever get caught in a wrong. But yes, it has been fun watching you weave your way through your landmine of comments meant to make it seem like Jasper didn't deserve to be on the field with Crosby because they were 1/2 the size. Be glad it wasn't Newton, because if it had been, you would be 0-1 thanks to a team 1/4 your size. You obviously can't believe that but the rest of us here know it to be a fact!
  8. Are we allowed to say it was a great game after all? Just wondering, and noticed 14.2 labeled it a good game and gave Jasper some props. Bulldog football is on the upswing imho. Let's hope this is the sign of good things to come. We have been pretty notorious slow starters the last few years so maybe there is quite a bit of upside from here.
  9. If the two lower level games are any indication then Jasper will hold their own, but Thursday rarely tells us much about Friday as a lot of the better underclassmen will be on varisty--especially for the school 1/2 the size of the other,
  10. Dare we say great game? Let's hope the next two are as well, though we are told we have no right to think one of them should be.
  11. Liberty lost a lot of skill players, but they have a few talented young athletes that should be able to take on added responsibility.
  12. Unfortunately since the days of Walkoviak, we do not schedule the teams twice our size as we did in the past. I was upset when we quit playing Lufkin. They too got too big for us..even though we beat them 5 out of 8 times in the 80-90's. Playing teams better than you is a good thing. I am glad the circumstances forced this "showdown," and from our perspective it will be a "great" game. Who knows maybe Crosby does return the favor and puts a 70 point beat down on Jasper. I get it, you take pride in your team and don't like not being respected to the level you feel Crosby deserves. You have had a very good 3 year stretch with some amazing athletes. Jasper had a pretty good year last year, and if indications of the scrimmage against a Newton team 1/2 our size tells us anything, we might be a bit better this year.
  13. Dang has Jasper fallen so much that we are being trashed by a team just twice our size? Sad state of affairs if it is so. The Dogs have eaten many such opponents for lunch in by-gone years. I guess we will just have to play for the moral victory and be thankful the almighty Crosby stooped to our level during these topsy turvy times. On a real note, Barbay sure has tried very hard to pick up a game these last couple weeks. Good to see we landed one that will be a true measuring stick as to if we are starting to turn the corner.
  14. Tarkington Closed Mon through Wednesday so far.
  15. Was a pretty good scrimmage. Don't remember all the particulars, but each team scored several times. Tarkington outscored them in the timed quarter 2-1.
  16. Cleveland/Tarkington/HF tomorrow at 9 am in Cleveland.
  17. Never seen a 7 on 7, but wish I could. I saw a picture several years ago, that I have tried to locate again and can't find, of Jordan Shipley going way up for a catch. That kid was an amazing athlete.
  18. Robinson has been very good at baseball for as far back as I can remember. Their record this year shows that they are following up a trip to the State tourney last year with another great team. Stangs will have a tough test here. Pulling for you guys to win it and hopefully face BC or Silsbee for a shot to make the State Semis.
  19. Anytime Jasper or Carthage lose in the first round that is notable. Silsbee was clearly the better team this year.
  20. Congrats Matt. I know you will bring the same tenacity to the sidelines at HSU as you did when you played there. Glad to see you gave Coach Enloe a shout out during your welcome speech.
  21. Districts don't make it a habit to give away students...students equal money!!
  22. Silsbee has had many very solid teams through the years. Likely the first time they have been favored over Jasper in quite some time. Jasper looks like they have struggled this year. Would be a pretty good upset for the Dogs to win this one.
