[/quote] I think the RB on Cleveland's 7th grade team could start on their varsity right now.  He has the speed and size of a varsity player already.  Their qb wasn't far behind him either.  Very bright future when those 2 make it to the top level.

Liberty typically has been a fairly good 3A team.  Went like 14 straight years straight with a playoff berth.  They should have been a playoff team this year.  They would have been much, much better this year had they not lost their qb. Orangefield had beaten Jasper 2 out of last 3 attempts.  They very well might challenge for the 3rd spot in their district. Kirbyville is not far removed from being about as good as any 3A team within 150 miles.  I think they will surprise some people this year.  They still have some talent. WO-S is always a great test. These aren't the days where we can schedule Lufkin, Kingwood, Forest Brook, Huntsville and Smiley to get us ready for District. Hopefully the new coach will add Silsbee back to the schedule and I wouldn't mind seeing them add a team like LCM or Central to their schedule. WO-S, Silsbee, Orangefield, LCM, Liberty    That would be a good predistrict schedule.  They were playing Gilmer, WO-S, Silsbee, Kirbyville and Newton...that wasn't working out so well for them.  Can't say it improved their playoff runs much either.

( where is beasleyfor wo-s) [/quote] Was trying to preserve the shutout, I guess, by trying to pin the Dogs deep.  I was puzzled that Jasper punted twice from inside of the 40 instead of going for it.  Seems both teams were more concerned with not being score on in these instances than trying to score themselves.

[/quote] Far more talent isn't a 10 point win at home.  Yes they are the better team, but there has been several years in the past were one of these two lost the first game and then won the second later on.  A couple them with a larger point spread of 10 points in the first match up.  Both teams need to keep improving because there are some very good 3A teams in our region besides the two who met on the field tonight.  Good luck the rest of the way and I would love to meet up again in the playoffs, as we have so many times in the past.

[/quote] I wouldn't say Jasper was outclassed by any means.  They held their own quite well.  WO-S was clearly the superior team but the Dogs are certainly within barking range.

May have to rethink my Newton vs EC and Kirbyvill vs EC matchups.

Really surprised HJ could bottle up Roberts in this one.

[/quote] I think this game showed me that Jasper's defense is better than I thought they were and their offense isn't quite where I thought they would be.  Middleton will need to get the ball more often for Jasper to be successful.  Walker got a good taste of big time football.  He will continue to improve.

Well this game definitely showed Jasper what they have to work on.  WO-S defense will be a very good preview of Carthage's defense.  Carthage has been extremely stout on defense last few years too.  Jasper was able to move the ball here and there, but overall they have a lot of work to do to compete with this caliber of team. Jasper defense can hold their heads up high.  They played a nice game. Too many turnover, penalties in this game for sure. WO-S looking like they haven't looked in quite a few years on defense.  I think their pass offense showed good improvement.  Jasper held their rushing attack pretty much in check, but Salter did have a few nice plays with his feet too. Good luck to the Stangs from here on out.

Yeah.  Jasper isn't going to score this game.  WO-S will be tough to score on in district play.  It will take a WO-S mistake, very short field, or big play to score against these guys.
