  1. If we are talking just high school, Jasper's Girdley was drafted 6th overall and Shepherd's Kolek was drafted 2nd overall. May not have made that list, but noteworthy. Of course draft is more about potential than anything else I suppose.
  2. The first game Jasper did not have Dominique Bailey. Not sure he was a 40 point difference before he was more than able to play at the Tiger tempo.
  3. May God honor our faith as we lift up your wife to His tender mercies and healing hands.
  4. Common sense says Bellville should win this game based on how West Orange has played to date. However, beating the Stangs in the playoffs will not come easy. Regardless of who is coaching either school, the bottom line is the athletes will go into the game knowing the playoff histories of the two teams in head to head matches the last few years. Can Bellville get the Mustang off their backs? They should, but no one on this site will be surprised if they don't. I don't like seeing one of our premiere SE Texas teams not living up to the status we all expect of them. They have played good football for a good portion of all the games they lost in district. If they put together 4 quarters of what they are capable AND can keep the game close, I think they will win this one. If Bellville jumps out early then WO-S is in trouble.
  5. Hate that a single play is becoming the story because it was a really good game. I think what I saw is Jasper figured out they have a super weapon at qb and unleashed him. That made the whole offense better and it really showed. It is the first time the offense had a dangerous look to it imo. Silsbee on the other hand probably had their worst offensive night (thanks in large part to a good jasper scheme and performance) but yet it was enough to win at Jasper. That speaks for itself. A rematch would be one of those extra special games no doubt, but some very quality teams stand in the way.
  6. Congrats to Silsbee on the DC and a perfect regular season. Jasper looked legit tonight. Hope they can play that well in the playoffs.
  7. Jasper offense looks better than I have seen them this year. Turnovers have really hurt both teams. Jasper gifted Silsbee both scores. Basically 3 turnovers each if you count the botched punt by Jasper. I suppose the team that makes the fewest mistake in the 2nd half is likely to win this one. Glad I am finally seeing Silsbee. They are big, fast, and athletic..nothing new on that front. Let's see what adjustments each team makes at half.
  8. All the district games played so far would indicate a close game. I just don’t know how well Jasper can move the ball against a very athletic team like Silsbee. Should be another classic and rememberable game between the two. I have seen several of those through the years. Looking forward to this one.
  9. Pulling hard for my Dogs, but I think Silsbee is in a class of their own in district this year. Our offense will struggle. The defense has its work cut out for it too. Most explosive team we have played to date. Rivalry might keep it close though.
  10. CC looked liked a homerun hire from the start. If he and Bronson stay the course I think we will see Jasper at a consistent level that everyone expects of them. The offense has such a long ways to go still. Every pass looks like a hail mary. In time I know that will improve. The qb is the critical piece in this scheme. He has the wheels that we need and won this game with his feet for us, but the finesse and timing on the passing game takes years to hone. I would love to see more quick timing routes and action across the grain of play. We a couple very talented wrs if we can get the ball close to them. Any good slingers at the lower levels on the way?
  11. Sounds fun, and I might actually learn a few things. I like the offensive scheme and feel we are on the right trajectory. Key certainly will be growing good qbs in our current offense. Running backs and good receivers has never been an issue for jasper.
  12. Yeah the offense is built around him. We have weapons, but we struggle finding rhythm. That big receiver needs to be a target way more than we are using him. I like the little scat back too. Shuffle pass needs to be worked into the scheme.
  13. He is Coming from Manvel where kicking deep is to a stud every week in that district. WOS beat us one year by us fumbling that pooch kick So it has its merits as far as special teams, we have had poor special teams for quite some years now. Imo it has not been a major point of emphasis. i like that he is a good man and trying to teach the young men about life and football. I think he and bronson certainly have the support of football families with so many personal connections. as far as x’s and o’s. Offense has quite a ways to go, but i like the scheme. Defense is salty.
  14. Most have coin flip, but some have coin flip to eliminate 1 team and then look at head to head for remaining two. i am sure there are other districts with even more inventive rules for that scenario.
  15. Sadly, Watching them shows that. Hope you guys get it turned around.
  16. You got that right..no one could work the refs like Dan hooks.
  17. think I will swap over from my Dogs and watch the rest of this one. Jasper seems to have that one in hand.
  18. This is normally where WO-S conditioning takes over and wins it for the Stangs. Wouldn't be surprised if the final was 28-13 Stangs, but they sure better get the offense going.
  19. Jasper 32 Bridge City 7 few seconds left until half time.
  20. great job Woodville Eagles.
  21. another td...been a very long time since we have had so many TD passes and passing yards in a game...another blocked extra point (jasper's xp and punting in need of work) 40-22
  22. 34 points in a row for the dogs. 34-22 Jasper 10:55 4th
  23. Donald Moore caught 7 int in a game for Splendora back in 77. Not sure about team record for a game.
