  1. Snap over punters head rolls 20 plus yards and kinkaid recovers for td. 14-7
  2. Jasper was standing in endzone and ref missed it…kinkaid then stops on 4th to end the half.
  3. Sure sad for the seniors this year. Probably see a move or two to Rusk or Crockett.
  4. As far as the Liberty Hill game mentioned, that was also one of my top 5 games. LH had a 3-headed monster running attack. It was very impressive. Jasper had speed all over the field, but the slot-t of Liberty Hill was ran to near perfection.
  5. I am not 100% sure, but I remember watching Madison play in the playoffs with vince young against northshore in 2001 in the dome. Jasper played the game right before them, if my memory is correct. The Jasper game did not go too well. Bay City put a whooping on us and we had what I thought was a very good team. It was our last game in 4A. The Madison vs Northshore game was one of the top 5 games I have ever witnessed. It was electric. We sat near Roger Staubach which was pretty neat.
  6. Indeed, but hopefully things are better for him these days.
  7. Land is way too expensive here for sure. Starting to see a lot of new built houses nonetheless.
  8. I am proud of both of my young men that I raised here in Tarkington. The one that stayed in the program learned plenty from good coaches, including x's and o's. Go find another school to bash for a while and give it a rest.
  9. Jorrie might not have won the Willie Ray, but he was Gatorade Player of the Year for 4A that year.
  10. I have lived in Tarkington quite a while. My kids played ball here. There is talent, but it isn't an every year talent like when I in high school at Jasper. The talent is spread out with a few in each class, and once every 5 or 6 years there is a group of solid players that do pretty good. For many years Tarkington was at the bottom of the classification and being outgunned and outmanned was not a good combination. I expected them to fair better in 3A than they have for sure. Never have understood what inspires people to put down another community on a message board. Just not in my character. Regardless, I hope Tarkington finds a good man who will teach our kids what it means to be a man, and will teach them to give everything they have while on the field with class. Success breeds excitement and success. It also brings players to the field who just play this sport or that sport. In a town like Tarkington it has to be all hands on deck to be competitive. We have been that before and I believe we can be again. Go Horns.
  11. Ivan Williams is a familiar face with ties to the area most of you wouldn't know about. The kids will play hard for him. Very few players have come through Cleveland with his skill set on either field of play. He was a special athlete for sure.
  12. Remember that BU fan that said he was the wrong guy for the job after WB beat them a few years back..
  13. Shelbyville had a kid who average near 50 points per game and set the state scoring record one year. They only won 3 games. Not sure if he was a D1 player or not.
  14. It is a rare thing for a team of Lumberton's history to go to a place with a storied history like Silsbee and then beat them on their court. I would say this is true of just about any high school sport, boys or girls. So if Lumberton goes to Silsbee and beats them that would be a huge win for their program. Even though Silsbee may not be the caliber of team that we have been witnessing for the last several years, it will still be very difficult for Lumberton to win this one. I think what surprises me the most in this thread is AAW only picked Silsbee to win by 5. That in itself is a big compliment to the Raiders this year. Whoever said that the Raiders were being disrespected in this thread is not being realistic. I would love to see Lumberton win it, just because I like to see an underdog come out on top. And also because I had the privilege of seeing Coach Mitchell begin his career at Hardin and would like to see his hard work rewarded. Good luck in that quest.
  15. Jasper played them in either the regional finals or State Semis several years back. LH offense is the best Slot-T I have ever seen by far. Jasper had no answer for them. Jasper was just too athletic for LH and scored 3 TDs in about 4 offense plays to start the game. It came down to the last drive of the game for the win. Kind sense it might be another one of those type of games. LH will get their points and I am sure Crosby will too. Fewest turnover or maybe even who has the ball last might decide this game.
  16. Way to go Deweyville and Coach Prouse. Keep building.
  17. Sounds like your good friend was a great man. Please extend our condolences and prayers to his family. Pray that you too can find peace and comfort in losing such a friend.
  18. Hand at Shelbyville..interesting.
  19. No doubt the best 2 teams are playing. If anyone can do it, it would be Gilmer. Tradition, athletes, and desire. Personally, if I like to root for the underdog when I don't have a reason not to. Hope the game is as good as the one you had in the finals with Jasper.
  20. Moye is a sore subject for sure, but no questioning his talent. He was WR as a freshman. I guess he was qb as a soph. Mitchell was amazing and would be who I would rank as best all-round qb from Jasper that I can remember. I went to school with Ben B. and both he and Fred H. were good qbs during those years. Bronson's athleticism outweighed his qb skills for sure. But he was electric. I think it was d. bailey that I remember that sure was fun to watch. I bit undersized but he could sure make a big play.
  21. I remember looking up to big Randy in my Woodville days before I moved to Jasper. He had a great personality and was fun to watch play baseball. Prayers for his family.
