  1. Jasper is good but not near the same level as Carthage. This is not near one of Jasper's better teams. A lot of weaknesses, but overall a solid football team.
  2. Kinda of new development for Jasper to have smack talking fans on here. They tend to come and go. Most of us who have posted here through the years for Jasper are pretty laid back. There is a reason I don't read or post on that "other board." I hope that reason does not overflow to this one. I am assuming the Horace kids is related to the great Michael from back in the late 80s. #32 is a great running back with the frame that colleges love. I have enjoyed watching him the last couple years the few times I was able to see him live. Good luck to the Roughriders in the playoffs.
  3. Ha, you were posting about LH at the same time I was. There are other schools that do an amazing job at this too. We are spoiled with the wide open offenses these days. They are great, but they aren’t the only way to win. walkoviak once told me he would have won multiple State Championships at Jasper had he ran the wishbone, and I believe him.
  4. This works for newton, and when vidor did throw the ball is was wide open. It is a great offense when executed. Watch Liberty Hill run this.
  5. That offense doesn’t need a bunch of plays when it is ran right. There is a reason why you see simple qb keeper busting it for 25 yards on 3rd and long. The offense is about execution and repetitiveness with little wrinkles. Vidor does it better than most.
  6. There are some great people there in Shelbyville. I pray they will rally around this young man and his family.
  7. Thanks, and best of luck to the Trojans.
  8. Vidor is the kind of team that can beat Jasper. Big, strong and they do what they do very well. I would not be shocked to see Vidor win this one, and I think they will win it... if they can limit the big plays.
  9. Going through WOS87's database shows the Horns have beaten Coldspring sporadically throughout the series. Didn't write down the overall record but they have about 6-8 wins total.
  10. 2002 Jasper. 1985 Jasper. 1988 Jasper. The talent on those 3 teams were exceptional even for Jasper standards and each of them was more than capable of winning state. I know there were some before those years too, but that is a little before my time.
  11. All the best to Newton as they continue to rebound from the storm. Hopefully the football team will be a sense of hope in tough times over there. We all know it is just a matter of time before practice and hard-work will have the Eagles demolishing opponents as usual.
  12. There were lots of twist and turns left in that game. From the sampling I saw it could have been 10 points either way by the end. Jasper has to develop the passing attack and hold on to the ball. Silsbee had some missed tackles but showed some grit by turning the game around. I am just thankful we are actually talking about football.
  13. Substantial size difference here, and if it was at huntington i am sure that field took away any speed advantage shelbyville might have had.
  14. Yes. Not a bad deal at all
  15. 9.95 per season or per month?
  16. I am from Silsbee, but graduated from Jasper. So I have a unique interest in these games. Been to many of them and have had numerous kinfolk play for each side. Who knows how this one will go, plenty of talent on both sides. But what a heck of a week these kids and coaches have had to endure. I hope both teams enjoy themselves and play some good SE Texas football. Go Dogs.
  17. At the end of the day the governor will give districts a lot of leeway, and then the real politics can take over at the local level. Districts are all over the place right now and there doesn't seem to be any clear understanding as to where we are going from here. Probably just like the rest of the country: big cities will do one thing and rural areas will do another with a few exceptions here and there.
  18. Of course a liberal organization called for that. But what matters is what the governor has said, which is students will be back in class if their parents want them to be. Teachers will be there ready for them if they want a paycheck.
  19. It is not like the teachers created this scenario. The vast majority of us would prefer to be in the classroom with our students. Please don't generalize us, and what is happening in New York is not what is happening in Texas if you haven't noticed.
  20. Jorrie Adams from Jasper was the Gatorade Class 3A Player of the Year and was an offensive lineman. Don't see that happen very often. But having watched many of those games during his days, I think Red Bryant was the better player of the two.
  21. Pretty equal in my opinion. From Silsbee but graduated from Jasper so I like to see them both do well. I have seen a lot of Jasper/Silsbee games through the years. They usually are very exciting to watch. Been a few lopsided ones but those are outliers.
  22. I saw Huffman, and I was surprised at their record. I think most of it is a lack of competition. Team seems pretty balanced with a good shooter and athletic post. They aren’t as good as previous teams at huffman imo.
  23. Ty. Was curious about Shelbyille. How do they compare to last year’s team in your opinion?
  24. I wish all my responses were with grace, but I know I often fall short. And I echo what Hasbeen said, thanks for always keeping us informed and giving us all an outlet to discuss and listen to SE Texas sports.
