  2. each position coach knows who he has in on each play and evidenced by the screaming players names know exactly what they did right or wrong. trying different formations and plays might require certain athletes to be places that scouts don't need to recognize so I guess no numbers might keep a thing or two hidden but probably not enough for it to be that big of a deal.
  3. Atlanta is very similar to Jasper. A town with a lot of history, expectations and talent that has receded from their former greatness.
  4. Yes same family. This Alvis is a fine baseball player as well.
  5. I also remember giving up 49 points against Gilmer and not being able to stop LH. I like the idea of building our team around defense.
  6. There can't be money awarded of that I am certain. I know the UIL will allow a 5th year of eligibility for medical hardship sometimes. If she has played 4 complete years of high schools I am afraid you are fighting a losing battle. But lawyers sometimes have a way of getting what they want so good luck and wish Whitney the best.
  7. Great game to show Jasper where they want to be. Gilmer should win comfortably but hopefully Jasper walks away with some experience that will help them later in the season.
  8. I like it. The Horns will play hard of that I am sure.
  9. Didn't know she had been give the A.D. job. I thought she was to continue coordinating the girls programs. Things seems to be changing around here often so I might be behind on some details though.
  10. He has coached in Tarkington before. Was on staff in Houston area when he accepted the job.
  11. Someone mentioned Adrian Peterson below..I was trying to remember if he ever won a district championship as a RB.
  12. She did the same thing last year as well.
  13. Not that it matters but Carthage won 5-0 on a no-hitter.
  14. 3-2 jasper top of 6th 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Only 5 hits each.
  15. good link for 18-3a results [Hidden Content]
  16. Another guy that is missing the point. No one said these kids can't be effective. But, only one of them has a chance to dominate his teams way to Austin. We just stated a fact. Pitching in the area does not compare to what it has been in the past. One guy just email me a list of six guys on one high school team that were between 87-90 in the late 90's. He also added 12 more names of kids that threw that hard in the same year. You guys can only name one guy in setx that pitches with that velocity right now. You are correct in one respect: there aren't near as many dominant pitchers in the area as there has been in the past. Although I don't recall very many of those listed that dominated and advanced his team all the way to Austin. Sure seemed like Jasper should have done that with the lefty Girdley throwing mid-90s, but it was a team without some of those pitching stars that aren't around any longer that went to Austin and brought back the crown.
  17. Wow over 70 in the shot put and 200 in the discuss. Has anyone besides Michael Carter ever done that? Looked it up on TexasTrack myself. Shot Put 81-3½ Michael Carter Dallas Thomas Jefferson 1979 72-2¼ Hayden Bailio Whitesboro 2009 71-2 Roger Roessler Round Rock 1996 Discus 208-8 Roger Roessler Round Rock 1996 204-8 Michael Carter Dallas Thomas Jefferson 1979 202-11 Hayden Baillio Whitesboro 2009 Only 3 people to ever do that in Texas. Very impressive. Hitch, is that Baillio kid a senior?
  18. 1. Lufkin Hudson 12-0 2. Carthage 11-1 3. Jasper 8-4 4. Diboll 5-6 5. Huntington 4-7 6. Central 4-8 7. Center 3-9 8. Rusk 0-12 If these records are correct then Diboll not only has to beat Jasper and one more opponent but hope that Jasper also loses to Center in their final district game.
  19. Jasper 9 runs so far in the 5th. Couple errors on Huntington and then the wheels fall off for them.
  20. Yes new stands will be installed on the visitors side and it will be the home side along with new concessions, bathrooms, scoreboards..the works.
