I think edge goes to Newton because of the system that is in place and the success the current players have had over there. Jasper is looking much better and should continue to improve under the new direction. if the momentum gets on their side they might can steal this one.

It was a game that showed the inexperience of both teams. This is probably the poorest BH team I have seen. The run defense was fairly solid and with Sexton smashing people, but the pass defense was not good. Offensively the QB situation at BH was shakey. One play it was a nice pass and the next it would come out of his hand sideways. Jasper's defense gave up some yards but had several big stops, and was very fortunate on a couple of dropped passes. Offensively the play calling was suspect at times, but seem to be able to move the ball well. Sure were a lot of bubble passes and slow developing routes. Offensive line was the MVP IMO, and the QB did an outstanding job of scrambling when he had to, but made several mistakes that showed his inexperience. Lot of upside with this kid. Big win for the Dogs, and BH can't help but improve as the continue to search for the right mix on offense, and hopefully figure out some pass coverage.

Liberty has some good athletes that are finally juniors and seniors. Big win and cograts to the panthers.

They will just have to adjust. Always another good athlete that can be plugged in and make do. Very fortunate that it was game one and they a couple more weeks to get someone else prepared.

I posted their accomplishments because you called them into question. It is called a response.

BH has 2 state trophies as does WO-S and both schools are many seasons removed from those seasons. I was really hoping the WO-S/BH stuff wouldn't be the mainstay of our conversations again this year. On a different note...I think this was a huge win for WO-S especially because they came from behind against a quality 4A program to win it. It will serve huge dividends in the future.

Jasper hung around against Livingston last year for most of the game, but the offense was woefully bad. The defense held its own. Yeah this is a big measuring stick for the "new" dogs.

I have been watching BH football on a yearly basis for many years now and have never seen them in a rebuilding phase. Haven't seen this year so it might be a first. Typically, I would say if a team manhandles BH they are very strong.
