  1. Good to hear they are in the weight room. Give it about 2 weeks and see who is still around. Hopefully a lot.
  2. Dayton versus WO-S will tell us alot about what the Mustangs are going to be like. It is a great early season match up.
  3. Anytime a 2A team plays 4 3A teams to start the year that is a very brutal schedule. Those are not cupcake 3A teams. Sure Orangefield, HJ and HF had bad records look at the district they were in. Those are quality football teams that would compete for playoff spots in the other surrounding 3A districts.
  4. Yeah that was a sad night at the Dog House...lucky field goal ;D ;D West Columbia robbed us of a shot of payback. Man did we stink that night against the Roughnecks.
  5. He was a terrific looking pitcher. Last time Jasper faced someone of his caliber his name was Homer. That day didn't go to well Just glad we got them the 2nd day and won the title. I think we beat them 2 out of 3 all day long, but Middlebrook looked just great at SS from where I was sitting.
  6. He wasn't crying. He was stating his opinion. He is probably right too. Reagen wasn't his same self during the playoffs.
  7. Who do you think would deserve the MVP if they considered the playoffs? I don't disagree that Reagen wouldn't get it if they did count playoffs. He did fine in all of his starts except the BC one, but wasn't able to throw at the state tourney. His bat was huge in all of the series though. And his defense was great. He did make an error in the finals though.
  8. May be a misprint but the UIL page said Jasper lost to Hemphill. Some of the other scores were out of sequence and that one might have been as well. Perhaps someone can clarify.
  9. Jasper doing 7 on 7 this year? If so, how is it going?
  10. Jasper was in district with BC for several years included the years with Shane Dronett.
  11. That Fitzhenry kid is a load. Giddings will be very hard to beat this year.
  12. They did win those two games big, but I am sure it has happened many times on several different classification levels. Jasper was a great team, but I believe I have seen several other Jasper teams (not to mention other 3A teams) that were certainly as good, and a few I believe were better. Jasper lost several games this year. One of them to a 2A team that wasn't all that great. We lost to 3 different teams in our own district, along with a 4A team that didn't make the playoffs. The best ever 3A team doesn't lose to that many different teams. Jasper got some nice breaks along the way and probably is very fortunate to have lost a few game to match up with Abilene Wylie instead of LE in the 1st round. Who in 3A was better than Jasper ever? Well this year Lufkin Central, HJ, Silsbee, BC, and Bellville on at least one occasion. Honestly, La Grange in '04 was way better, and I personally believe the Jasper team they beat was better than this Jasper team. La Grange went 33-1 and won 11-0 and 10-4 at the State Tourney. I believe the Lorena team that put out another great Jasper team in '03 was better. They didn't have a dominating offensive output at the state tourney but won it all and finished the season at 33-0! Honestly I believe both BC and Barbers Hill teams from last year were better than this Jasper team. I believe I have seen 2 or 3 other Barbers Hill teams that were better than this team also. Just looking back at the UIL Archive Orange Grove (whoever that is) ten run ruled their two opponents at the State tourney 11-1 and 10-0. Their other scores in the playoffs were 5-1, 4-1, 8-0, and 10-2. Sounds like a great team. To me that is what makes the State Championship so nice..we won it without the superstars and dominating team. All those years we had the superstars we couldn't bring home the gold. This year we had a solid team from top to bottom and got the job done big time.
  13. You gonna hurt talking like that
  14. Close.. I would say 1. Jasper 2. Bridge City 3. LE 4. Carthage 5. Sinton 6. Abilene Wylie and then any of 10 or 12 teams for the last 4 spots.
  15. Middlebrook could bring the ball. He was warming up behind home plate before the game. When you see someone throwing 90+ from close range it gives you an appreciation for trying to bat against MLB pitchers. Middlebrook might have beaten Jasper I don't know. Sinton put up a few runs on him. I don't know if LE could have scored against Parson or Reagan with a healthy arm.
  16. You know I knew that.
  17. Don't know about "bad blood" but it will be playoff type atomspere throughout next season no matter who they play. Everyone will be pumped to try and knock off the defending state champs, especially a talented BC.
  18. Agree with all you said, but the ironic thing is that Jasper's defense really was their strong point for most of the season. It had flashes of brilliance throughout the playoffs, especially in the Bellville series, but was shakey at times the deeper the playoffs went which is understandable to me.
  19. yeah 3 out of 4 of the top of the batting order as well. Nice nucleus to rebuild. Wonder if Hart moves in to SS or is there someone who can cover that position?
  20. I agree that Jasper wasn't loaded with superstars, but were just solid from top to bottom. They played great defense (most of the time). They had 4 pithcers that no one except Mixon had a clue as to who was going to pitch, and all of them got the job done. They had every kid in the line up get a base hit in the state finals and set the record for the most runs scored in that game. Nothing speacial but STATE CHAMPS.
  21. I hope people begin to think Jasper isn't a football town anymore. Those who do that will look up at a 40-0 spot one day and wonder what happened. The Dogs will bounce back on the gridiron give them time.
  22. Hup was at the game cheering on the Dogs..was a great game for the Dogs. We jumped on them early and often. Hit the ball hard all the way through the order. Those hits were all quality hits..hard hits. LE never got it together at the plate..Masterful performance by Stephenson with a little help from the ump. who seemed to like his stuff more than he did the lefties from LE for some reason. Can't help but wonder if Reagen was still unable to pitch. I think would explain his lackluster performance against BC. Congrats to Mixon and Jasper on the State Title. Great Job Guys.
  23. Jasper had a fine team no doubt, but man there have been some awesome 3A teams through the years. I am not sure that the Jasper team that Homer Bailey's La Grange Leopards knocked out of the playoff wasn't better than this one. Either way..best of all time really is a tall order..and regardless the Dogs are 07 State Champs!!
  24. Wow..makes you wonder why all those talented NBA teams don't just win every game doesn't it.
  25. Greg Maddux is like that too. Parson isn't overpowering but he sure mixes up his pitches well. Hats off to the coach in the dug out call the pitches as well. As far as tomorrow goes..I would think that if Reagen's arm is 100% he has to start the game. I would expect that he will be on a very short leash with Ellis and Stephenson available.
