Looks like Jasper goes into this game as the underdog in the minds of SE Texas. That always gives you just a little more boost as well.

Hard to call BC a team that is rebuilding when they bring back the likes of Stringer and Dishon. You bring back players like those two and fills holes around them and win games! You are right some towns experience success here and there. Neither Jasper or BC or one of those towns. BC certainly has the recent edge on success, but Jasper is far from a flash in the pan program.

Jasper has 3 solid pitchers. How deep do you have to be? 3 has been plenty thus far and was the first two times they met. Stringer is awesome no doubt, but Reagen and crew are more than capable.

Who is the overall best in these categories? Offense Defense Pitching Coaching I give Jasper a fair advantage in defense and BC a slight advantage in pitching and offense. I would say coaching is pretty equal both are excellent coaches.

Going to be a tough series. No way to predict the winner here. Probably whoever has the best pitching after game 1.

Sounds like most of Dishon homers wouldn't be impacted either way.

Yeah no one was touting Hudson this year. It was a rebuilding year and they did very well. They will be solid again next year losing only 4 players.

I certainly want BC to win. But you are right about living in Marshall and knowing that Carthage has to be taken out. Those kids are a powerhouse in baseball from way back. I don't recall the Bulldogs playing the Mavs, but if they did I bet Coach Parker put a knot of their heads. The year (or maybe it was the year right before) I came to Marshall they won the 5A state championship.

Although Carthage is not the two-time Reg. III champs, it is not entirely fair to make that comparison. Carthage was in Reg. II two years ago and not only made the State tournament, but won it putting out BC along the way. Carthage must have been very senior heavy that year because last year they failed to make the playoffs.

Lamar would be a great venue..possibly Silsbee. Getting a bit ahead of ourselves because Carthage isn't Hudson. I understand Carthage still has a few good arms left as does the Cardinals.
