  1. If that gives you a headache just wait till season starts. We were plaining on playing 7 on 7 today at WH that got washed out ..To bad Was looking forward to seeing how we were going to look this next year.
  2. Didn't realize Evadale was that bad this year. Didn't ya'll go undefeated in district? This guy sounds like ya'll unloaded some dead weight!?? The Rebels gave us all we wanted the last two years and if your time keeper hadn't stopped the clock with ONE second left in the half with our team at the 5 yard line it would have been 7 to 7 at he half this year. Evadale would have had momentum going in at the half and had out rushed us two to one at that point and who knows. We did score on the next play and that deflated Evadale. I've got some good buds from Evadale and ya'll are loosing some quality guys, don't forget who got you here! Didn't this team beat Hull for the first time in school history on the varsity level? YES! I believe Evadale will be fine again this year but I don't remember enough speed for 4 wideouts, hey, just a casual observation. Hope ya'll don't focus too much on individuals this year cause this last years team showed the 1A district what TEAM was all about. GO PIRATES!!! No were did I say anything Like we had dead weight on last years team. But If you would have watched any of the last two years playoff teams you could have seen that both teams def. put a over loaded D line to make Evadale throw to win and they weren't put together to play that way. I just think that this years team will be a little more balanced with the passing game being more than the run. And you are right if not for that 1 second left on the clock it would have been a different game , and that man will not be back allowed in the press box . You don't need that much speed to get 5 yards up field, and with the size that the Redels will have this year , small D backs will have there hands full when they have to play man up by spreading the D with 4 wideouts . Not many 1A schools will have 3 6ft D backs and Evadale will be able to send 2 receivers out 6'2" and 1 at 6'5" I believe Evadale will be in good shape this year but there will be several unproven players on the field. I do think coach Will will bring them along and have them ready when district rolls around, it really depends on how the new guys (and returning ones) perceive thenselves. I see no superstars (still early) just like last year and if everyone does his part, they'll be OK. You can read into your lines that we've turning the chapter and are headed for good times...heck, I had a blast last year. 31 point average ain't bad for a bad offense.(just reading between your lines). I will say that I believe a major foundation was laid for Rebel Football last year and now its those "tall" receivers job to build on that, and when they leave, hopefully they've kept that drive, the want to, the expectation to win alive and it'll be up the next group to continue. Something we've never had at Evadale is a winning tradition in football, and winning district one year isn't a tradition, but with teamwork and a community behind em, it has hopefully started already. I have nothing bad or negative to say about ANY team ever to step foot on Rebel field, I've missed a half dozen games since I last played in 1982 catching passes from our very own coach Will, and every team is different and as a coach he changes almost yearly to go with what he's got. Hopefully when this group moves on some guy wont come on here and say "glad that's over , now we can pound em again like we used to". If a fella is true blue and gold, you are thankful to the guys that went 2 and 8 just like the ones that won the district title and you deffend em and build em always. Great job to the District Champs Evadale Rebels, you'll be missed, with what you've taught us, we plan on getting another one this year...and starting a tradition...GO REBELS!!! No need to read between the lines just read what is there. we had a strong running game the last two years that is no question but if you were there, and I am sure you were, both teams in the play off game played a teams that setout to stop the run and did. The last two years team were built to run and they did a great job of that. I just think that this year there will be a strong passing game, just my oppion, that is all yet to be seen, And I also think that with that passing game the running game will be as good if not better. Lost a lot of good players last year and they will be misted but if the one coming up, play the way they did on JV last year I think we will be fine. You are right A strong football team in Evadale is not tradition but I hope the last two years turn that around. The Sr this year have pasted the torch it is up to next years team to keep it lit.

  4. Thank you Our boys played hard and made the hole town proud. The best thing is that Baseball team had only 2 Sr, on it so hope to be back there next year. That hole grope will be in the weight room Monday getting ready to play football That is one of the best things about living in a small town our players play it all and to be able to put a competitive team on the fields and courts make the hole town proud. Very good. But I don't think you'll have that problem as the Rebus should be pushing for a playoff spot again this season. BTW, congrats on your run in the baseball playoffs this year. I agree that to live in the past is not really productive. However, tradition shouldn't be be ignored. It is that tradition, as well as hopeful signs that point to a return to that tradition, that keep folks supporting their teams. Maybe if kids showed some reverence toward past records, it would help them strive to maintain a tradition and in fact, become part of that tradition. Those on this thread that have expressed pride in the tradition of either the Bulldogs or the Indians will be out there with pride this fall supporting the current editions of those teams, I can assure you.
  5. I support the Rebels from Evadale I have a son playing. And yes I support the team every year and no I don't just pull for the winning teams. There is nothing wrong with showing pride in there teams and town but don't live in the past. Most kids now not care how good there team use to be they just wont you to support them now. Just look at every level of play If a coach is not winning now no matter what his pass records are he will have to go. That is life (What Have You Done For Me Lately). Even the Great Dan Hooks ,if he was to have a string of losing seasons, there would be people calling for him to go. But don't see that happing ,he is to good of a coach to let that happen. Purple and White and Gold and Black pride run deep but just put all that behind the kids on the field now , not on the ghost of the pass
  6. Stats are for people that won't to live in the past .Don't tell me how good you once were show me how good you are now, Past records are for old men to tell there kids what was. Looks to me that PNG has move from there great pass by removing one of there great has been and replaced him with the futher. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with remembering your past but don't live in it.And I have read the post and looks to me that someone pulled records going back to the 30 s, come on how far back does anyone other than you care. Most kids playing now parents werenot born then. I know the kids that where the purple and white, or the gold and black are proud to where them but not for what was but for what they are now and who they are now.
  7. You poor folks from Mid County really need to get a life. Anyone that has to count back 30 years of any program has no life. You all sound like Cowboy fans (haven't won a playoff game in 13 years) and still think you are American's team. No one cares what happen 30 years ago, last year, last week are even last night. What are you going to do today and tomorrow is all that matters now. You might tell your grandkids how great you once were but other than them no one cares sorry that is life. Good luck this year
  8. The three teams that everyone are picking are the top of this dist, but I think this year will be the year that Evadale goes more than one game and out in the playoffs. Don't be surprised when they come out with four wideouts in the shotgun on the opening drive. They are going to really be able to throw the ball this year. They lost a lot of Sr this year on the D side of the ball but they are not going to have to have the D to carry the team as much this year as in years pass. But with that said they will still have a good running game but D's will not be able to overload the line just to stop the run, if they do they will get burnt over the top. I look for this year to be exciting with a lot of points being put on the board .Cant wait for the Lights to come on Friday night
  9. You will have to think back but in 2000 and 2001 Jason Wilkins was the best (Athlete) to come out of Southeast Texas. He is the only Athlete, that I know of, in the area to have State Champion Rings in Two Sports ,baseball and basketball. He was also 1st team all dist. in 25 1a in 4 sports football , basketball , baseball ,track, he was the starting shortstop and picher on the 2000 State Champions Baseball team, and the MVP of the state tournament in the 2001 State Champion Basketball team. Was voted Athlete of the area by KBMT 12 in 2001, The leading scorer in the WMBL tournament of all size schools, After leaving High school he went to played Basketball for Nichol State and lead the conference in 3 point shooting. I know some of you will not remember that far back but you did say since 2000 And you said Athlete not just a one sport man
  10. Sorry did not mean to implie that SP was recruiting .Just didn't think that many kids were still ( living) in SP . Thought most were not back in there homes yet, from the storm, and with that said anyone can say that they are going to move back and with PA being so close it would be easy for a kid that does not wont to play at Momoral to play in SP. You are right 25 -1a will be fun to watch this year.
  11. Seeing that Potts was the 2 leading rusher on the team last year I would see him as a running back, but they do split him out on some plays, Dorr could make a em pack with his speed, he is a little undersized just hope he stayes healthy this year, sorry I missed him I frogot with him having a brokenarm last year and being out. The names I stated were ones that will be new to the head lines this year. The one you meantion were there last year and most people are aware of them, Sorry if I misses anyone It will take 22 players making plays to get back to the play offs this year.
  12. Spurger will be the team to beat in region 3 until someone proves otherwise. And you can not tell what kind of team Sabine Pass will have, now that they can pull kids out of Port Aurthur, The team that might get in the mix this year will be the Rebels. Evadale will still be young again this year with only two Sr. but the Jrs that play will have played two years at the varsity level. They will have plenty of size this year .Sr Bradshaw 6'3'' , Jrs Stark 6'3" Tucker6'3" Dunigan 6'5" Soph Murphy 6'1 and Totten 6'0. Should give the Rebels a strong inside game. The one thing that they are lacking is speed. They have 3 players ,Herrington, Potts, Bruce, that could step up at the point. As soon as one of (them )decide that the spot is theres the team will start to come around. If they work at it they could give the top teams a run for one of the playoff spots. They played every game close this year and they were Fr, Soph, Jrs with only one Sr. That experience will payoff this year.
  13. I don't know what premise you base that assumption on. You need to do a little fact checking: 1) EC is 9-0 against 3A competition the last three years, cumulative score of 293-159, average score of 33-18. 2) BH is 4A, not 3A. 3) EC has 4 predistrict games. EC, until proven otherwise, would be the favorite in 3 of 4 of those games. BH due to raw numbers would be the exception. How on earth would you think EC couldn't hang with that schedule, after a 9-0 recent record vs. 3A. To say EC "needs to play 1A schools" is ludicrous. You must be someone with a axe to grind... Let's be realistic. : PS: It's West Hardin, and Hull Daisetta. Don't forget EC got that record with Thomas on the field. I am just saying who would wont to take a chance in playing someone with that many kids 4 times. Most kids get hurt when tired 4 games that tuff would not be wise. As far as a axe against EC your could not be further off And that grope of 1a schools would not be a soft schedule they all made the playoff last year. EC has 14 straight years of playoffs. (Most of the those 14 years were without Thomas...) EC has recently gone 9-0 vs. 3A's. No one, and I mean no one around EC wants to play all 1A's for predistrict. Playing bigger/stronger opponents gets a team ready for district. Playing down doesn't, and EC won't. I don't know what premise you base that assumption on. You need to do a little fact checking: 1) EC is 9-0 against 3A competition the last three years, cumulative score of 293-159, average score of 33-18. 2) BH is 4A, not 3A. 3) EC has 4 predistrict games. I never said to play all smaller schools for preseason. You wont to play that hard of preseason get after it. It wont take but one of your key players to get hurt and all the season that counts is in jeopardy. But like I said the three teams that I gave you would give you a good game. And I think that Evadale's JV came to Winnie last year and beat you JV . But all for this is for not just have to wate for Friday night lights to come on. Have a good year and hope to see you at one of the games. Don't forget EC got that record with Thomas on the field. I am just saying who would wont to take a chance in playing someone with that many kids 4 times. Most kids get hurt when tired 4 games that tuff would not be wise. 14. Evadale is really good they should be in at least the top 5 and i got some bad news 4 everyone there whole team is almost sophmores so they will be good 4 the next few years
  15. Players to watch this year are going to be QB Nickoles Good speed and big arm , Running back Potts balance and speed, Fullback Freeman power and good speed, Tight end Starks 6'3" 245lb , Splitend Dunigan 6'5" good hands,They will all be JR next year, and you never can tell about the younger players that were Fr this year. They had a strong JV team this year. They will have some size this year and decent speed.
  16. Don't forge I don't know what premise you base that assumption on. You need to do a little fact checking: 1) EC is 9-0 against 3A competition the last three years, cumulative score of 293-159, average score of 33-18. 2) BH is 4A, not 3A. 3) EC has 4 predistrict games. 17. Look for the Rebels to throw the ball a lot this year. They will have three of the biggest receivers they have had in years. Stark at 6'3" Duboise at 6'3" at tight end and Dunigan at 6'5" at splitend they are going to be hard for smaller D backs to defined. They lost a good Sr QB this yeas but they have two coming in this year that can flat throw the ball. They will have two good backs with Stanley and Potts, they should be very balanced this year.Last year teams loaded the line and made it hard for the Rebels to run the ball, they wont be able to do that this year. And as always the Rebels will play strong defence . Looks good for the 2009 year as long as they can stay healthy, that is the hardest thing for small schools.
