  1. Doesn't Coach Alverez have a job at Ennis? Have any of you ever seen the facilities at Ennis? I think getting him back to Jasper is a pipe dream. Why would he leave a school with a football tradition and excellent facilities to return to Jasper where there has been a divided community for years and facilities that are lacking? And by divided I mean football and baseball. Jasper missed the boat last year by not hiring him then. Good luck to whomever they hire. It's gonna be an uphill battle.
  2. When did "coaching" become not teaching. I seem to remember "coaches" teaching a lot about discipline, effort, self worth, and life in general. They also spent a lot of time and effort on game plans, offseason programs, and "teaching" the jr high how to be high school. But I'm old and a lot of current political correctness eludes me. The average person understands very little about school finance and the constraints the legislature has put on local budgets. And it is easy to blame instead of offering viable solutions. Nothing with the school districts and money these days is easy.
  3. Congratulations to both these guys. SFA the last few years has picked up several Newton players, but McNeese is known as Newton East for a reason! My wife was very pleased for Brent to be signing with McNeese as he was always a good student, hard worker, and "good kid" as she says, and she has taught many, many through the years. Good luck Trevor at SFA. I was coached by your Grandfather. That was a long time ago! ;D
  4. I  think the difference is live ball. If you got time to chest bump, raise your fist, or whatever during the time the ball is in play, then your not doing your job as a member of that team. When the ball is dead the chest bumping is not flagged most of the time. This kid as well as Grey are both doing these things(taunting) during a live ball. Against the rules period. JMO

Congrats to all the players. But there are definitely ALOT of arguementa on this list. Like the fact that Kountze has 11the picks. More than woodville, buna, and anahuac.

These teams were voted on by the coaches of the district. Maybe you should question your own coach before you cast doubts on the kids that made it. Did he even put forth any names, etc.?
  6. Ya'll leave poor old AggiesAreWe alone. He's the recognized expert on anything sports related in southeast Texas, recognized by himself mostly, but recognized. He will "clarify" anything about sports. Crockett will win, the Aggies have a winning and much superior football program, and Silsbee is unbeatable. Now how wrong can he be? Just ask him and he will help you understand!! ;)
  7. I'm very torn between who I hope wins this game. WOS has always been a very good program here in Southeast Texas and one that Newton has never beat. Very well coached, a lot of tradition, and talent. Would also be a very good representative of the area to advance in the playoffs.
Coldsprings on the other hand is coached by one of our own that not only wore the purple and white for Newton, but his Dad was the one that put Newton football on the map with the winning traditions we now enjoy. I love that tradition.
Hence the problem. There are no ties in the playoffs, so let me say a 1 point win in a hard fought contest would be as close to perfect as I could want. I just can't say which team I would prefer to have that 1 point! So good luck to both teams and schools and play hard and let the winner represent us all here in Southeast Texas as the playoffs progress!! :)

Went and watched this one. Did not know Tatum was this good. Overstreet is the real deal. I have watched Crockett and Tatum both play and this should be a great match up (assuming Crockett wins). Both have good size with outstanding QB's. Hope someone will post the place and time for that game.
Best of luck EC, you had a good year.

EC has nothing to hang their heads about. They played a heck of season. They were picked to miss the playoffs and went 3 rounds deep. Stellar group of coaches and young men. I wish them the best.

My hats off as well. Goes to show the "experts" don't always know what their talking about. I only saw them against Newton , but well coached and played hard are both terms that don't really fit. They were SUPER well coached and played SUPER hard. Great season. :)

Didn't I clarify this a couple of days ago? ;)

Okay, now Newton, hold up your end of the bargain and get us those basketball schedules, since it is now "official" ::) that you guys are playing basketball now.

ChampionEagle, next time you need to know something about your team's status, just ask. ;) ;D

You had also "clarified" that Silsbee was not going to be one and done. Thanks anyways, but I'll stick to my people. ;) Just back from Houston and the grand kids to read this.
