never said hated the purple I said dreaded the purple!  and no not that purple team either lol.   too many dang purple teams around here!  But if you think about it, purple and white, Dayton, PNG, and Newton!!  I think id change my color to purple there might be something to that!  They are all very successful teams!

Now ryker your beginning to come around! Another few years and you'll be over that ol black and red bug! lol ;D
2. Easy there orange bleed. Your taking wild shots that can't be substantiated. Purpleeagle should not have put that weasel post in, but don't go off the deep end with wild accusations. SATs, give me some numbers that can be verified, or is this something "that everyone knows" as the old line goes. Just because you can beat somebody 99-0 still don't mean you should. If that was the case Orangefield could have been on that 0 end many times playing against Newton.

We were running QB sneaks for 80 yards and a touchdown.
The QB ran often as a part of the OF offensive plan the whole season. That was part of other huge blowouts during that era. Believe me I know.
QB sneaks were only ran in short yardage situations.
If it was a true veer offense the QB basically was a running back. According to play being called inside or outside, he always had the option to run.
5. Ted Tate and his Kountze Lions beat Newton 66-6 in 1969. Thank God Newton did not change coaches and won state in 1974 with the same staff. Curtis Barbay lost to Sealy 83-6 in a playoff game and it was hard to sit and watch, but sometimes these things make you stronger. Kountze went on a memorable losing spree after this, maybe they should have stayed the course with the coach, who knows. It's always easy to look back and say what should have happened. Orangefield did not make the playoffs that year was interesting part of story IMO.
6. Easy rykerx. I can tell you from personal experience if it is him you will never make heads or tales from all of his pms and rantings including threats to meet you and beat you up at recess. lol I personally think he has some kind of problem that doesn't allow any kind of rational thought.  :)
7. Some of the posters from Kirbyville seem to think any kind of disagreement with their view is in some way dissing their cats. They then tend to become over reactive and spew all kinds of vehement writings that show no respect for anyone. What do they then expect people to do, show them love for making these statements? Kirbyville has come from a laugher on schools schedules to a very good team. They still are not indestructible, just as no teams are(they have found this out in the playoffs). Accept this, show some respect to other opinions and still be proud of what Kirbyville is doing on the field.
8. Newton being ranked 2nd in D1 is great, but does not mean great things for the season. Wait until wk10 or later and then people will know what kind of playoff season to expect. Newton has been here before and everything panned out great. They have also been here and the wheels came off. It's exciting time of the year and will only get better with the start of play. Looking forward to possible great year. Defensive play, I think, will be the key to a good year.

I have some friends from there and I plan to go see little Ship play too. They say he can really dominate a game. I'm looking forward to it.

Supposed to be better than big brother. Very athletic. Time will tell.
10. I don't think too many people "rag on the cats" as you say. I think a few individuals with Kirbyville ties post things about the cats and their program that are totally ridiculous and get things stirred up. Tradition is not built in a year or even two, but over time. I respect the Kirbyville program and the direction it seems to be heading, but saying such things as three band members make them 3A is not something that I can accept as reasonable. The game with Jasper is going to be a great contest this year. It should really give both programs a bench mark as to where they are and should be the best match up in that district's title race. I have to give a slight edge to the bulldogs.

I talked to some of the Jasper players yesterday while in Walmart and they said Kirbyville shouldn't be #1 in their district. Lets see if they will be saying that when they face my Wildcats. Every year they write my boys off and we prove the haters wrong. Last year we were in a rebuilding year considering the talent we lost, but managed to make it back to the championship. Kirbyville makes their way back to 3A because of 3 extra students who participate in band. Basically Kirbyvillle is a 3A school under the umbrella of a 2A that fixing to do what they been doing and thats WINNING!!!
Making excuses is not helping the team you claim to defend. Those three extra could just as well been football players, FFA, FHA, or in the auto mechanics. The numbers are not gathered or classified that way. Regardless of what you think, everything is not stacked against the cats program. 3A under the umbrella of a 2A, what does that even mean?
12. I just read about the Jasper School District discussing possible plans to renovate several facilities and construct some new ones. In the proposal are plans for a new 6500 seat field with turf to be constructed by the high school. I don't think this is a done deal, just being talked about by the board. Also included is a 60 acre indoor practice facility.

Jasper would win..

But

Dang what happen to the Days when Teams use to be afraid to play Teams like Jasper,W.O.S and Newton..
Not saying Kirbyville should be im jst remanicing..Lol.

Not saying Jasper, W.O.S or Newton arent that good anymore, But I remeber when Jasper and W.O.S would beat teams like Central and P.N.G almost every Year while Central was a 5A or when W.O.S gave P.N.G their only lost in 99 on their way to state..Or when Newton and W.O.S would beat Nederland and Ozen in some of their best years..Dang, thoes weere the days when SETX was known for haveing some of the best football in the state.,.

:) Just a thought I Had
I dont know about the other teams, but please tell me when Kirbyville have EVER been scared of these match ups??
That's pretty funny! You might want to try the 1980's, the 1990's, the late seventies to name a few.
