Going to the game in a VW bus when gas was 17 cents was fun.Losing wasn't all that bad 8) ::)

"Our" age is showing. I could fill my bug up with gas, eat out and go to a movie with a date for ten bucks. I never ever liked losing though. It always hurt like the devil. :D
  2. In 1974 Newton was playing I believe Cameron Yoe in Huntsville in the old rock stadium and it was bitter cold and drizzling rain when Mark Walker for Newton kicked a 35 yard field goal with just a few seconds left to win the game. It was the closest game Newton would have on the way to their first state championship. People from Newton still bring up the win as well as how bitter cold it was. We had huddled together the whole game with blankets and coats and still like to froze, but it was worth every minute.
  3. I think the top three will be Anahuac, EC, and Newton, not necessarily in that order. Team speed and an injury free season will determine the order. Newton is the favorite and should have an advantage in the team speed department, but anything can happen in a district this large and talented. Advancing in the playoffs should be the overall goal and the district should fair well there. Playing against talented teams week in and week out should prepare any district representative well for the playoffs. It's too bad that some good teams may be sitting at home the first week of the playoffs.
  4. If anyone thinks a game comes down to a single call or non call by an official, they're searching for an excuse. There are always bunches of calls that could be made or are made during the coarse of a game. Some correct, some not. Some coaches do have preferences to what chapters they use. I personally believe the lower classifications suffer from quality of officiating more so than upper classifications. Playoff referees seem to do a better job than regular season. As for the "home grown ref" thing beating Kirbyville last year, that's pure baloney. Not taking advantage of opportunities beat Kirbyville.

And "home grown refs" are supposed to make those calls! Give it a rest.
I guess you have personal issues with the wildcats. i really do not care. I call i see it. WOS did have their star players on the field they almost got beat so ref. had to call it in favor of wos. pics and video do not lie. our player broke the plain and called it favor for wos. But we will see if this game will be called fair for both sides. maybe ???
And Kirbyville has never been the beneficiary of a favorable call at a critical time during a game. Kirbyville has only been on the losing side of all bad calls made in every game they have ever played. Get over it. Next will be bad calls was the reason for no state titles! Quit whining. My "personal issues" are poor sports. If the shoe fits, wear it.
Dude We Never Have to be Cuz we Blow everyone else out and there are no need for "Homegrown refs" lol Wos Coudnt beat us if we had neutra refs Str8 botto, line ;D
The way ya'll "blew out" Muleshoe?
You are correct!  We did get beat by Muleshoe pretty bad that game.  Who'd yall play again that week?
I didn't say we were going to blow any one out and we have only lost once that week when we played and won three times. How many times has Kirbyville won?

Im not sure if you started this to just start crap or if you really believe this.  I think I speak on behalf of 99 percent of Kirbyville fans that I speak of above, PLEASE STOP!!!!

There is three or four of you guys that just wont quit! Your making this program look bad and you make descent fans scared to say anything (like me if yall havent noticed lately).  Im scared to give the program or any of the kids any compliments because Im scared im going to get the "typical Kirbyville fan" response.  If its your goal to make all of South East Texas hate the Wildcats then keep it up!  Your doing a heck of a job!
To responde to your quote, I do not see anyone from the kirbyville side making it hard for you to post or make a quote about kirbyville as for of k-ville rep. in setex that was done long before because jasper, kirbyville, and newton are the step children of southeast texas. Histroy speaks for itself. I will by request tone it down but I will not kiss anyone butt when its comes to the wildcats.  My request is to anyone please do not dogout kirbyville and I will keep my promise.  >:(
You have this big chip on your shoulder daring anyone to knock it off, and then get mad when someone does. Don't waltz into the room and issue challenges that are totally dumbfounding and not expect to get responses such as you have. Maybe the dogging is more at a personal level than at the community.
  8. Through the years coaches have come and gone, but two that have continually gave Southeast Texas programs to be proud of are Dan Hooks of WOS and Curtis Barbay of Newton. It took Coach Barbay 23 years to win his first state title, but kept it exciting and competitive for those years. Alverez at Kirbyville, Faircloth at PNG, Bickham at Jasper all seem to be heading the right direction.
  9. He is a great back, no doubt, but he has to have help from the line to get any yards. That makes it important to remember if any problems develop in the line, his year could suffer. NO back has ever gotten ALL his yards by himself. The competition level in 3A will be greater than he saw in 2A. The defenses he will face will know who he is and key to remove his strengths this year. Can have a great year, but no way does he match last years numbers.

I will start it off. I am a big fan of the wildcats and will travel for off to support them win or lose. The wildcats are champs in my book. ;D If you not a wildcat fan that ok we still have plenty of room for new members' to support our wildcat team. GO BIG RED. ;)
Ive' been a Wildcat fan, longer than most poster's on here have been alive: Iv'e supported them in the bad times as well as the good, And no one is prouder of their new found success than I am..But I also remember the days when Kirbyville was the whipping boy in football,Everyone wanted to play them for their Homecoming game,To appreciate success you must remember where you came from and how far you still have to go..Coach Jack and his assistants have done a remarkable job in restoring pride and respectability back in the Kirbyville football program,But...untill Kirbyville brings home the State Title, which so far has eluded them will they be called "Champions"(and rightfully so)...Iv'e been around football a long time and wore the red & black uniform and Iv'e yet to see ANY team running around and shouting.."wer'e # 2"...  JMO........Good Luck Wildcat's...!!!!!
Excellent perspective! Good luck to the cats and go get that "championship" this year!

i have upmost respect for newton eagles program and their ability to fight back in extreme circumstances but i will not stand by and let some so call self proclaim football wanna be bash kirbyville in the mud. I call it how i see it. That is the bootom line because hardcore said so. that include champnewton eagle if get my drift. ;D
I respect Kirbyville's program as previously stated. Some fans statements of shoulda, coulda, woulda deserve no respect. Get over it.

There are missed calls in every game played. Newton lost and Kirbyville won, period. I'm not the one whining about "homer refs" and "losing" because of the refs. I have the utmost respect for WOS and their proven track record. The jury is still out on Kirbyville.
Im not the one whining about referees either I just dont like people getting on here and bashing my hometown, because one way or another in the west orange game last year we played them better than we ever have. The referees may have made a bad call I didnt have the angle he did so its not my right to judge the referees call.
Super answer! I apologize if I offended you. A few fans statements seem a bit arrogant IMO. The game last year is a great thing to build on and to try to get after them this year. I'm not bashing Kirbyville's program at all(they seem to be one of the hottest going), just trying to put some historical context to their recent successes, which have been many. Good luck this year and keep building.

So i guess your saying the last 2 years there havent been any bad calls during the Kirbyville vs. Newton games? Because Kirbyville came out on top both times.  ;D

  14. You think he is "crude" for saying "little meaningless dogs" in a general statement? Yes the thread is K'ville & WOS, but he didn't say "little meaningless cats". As for Newton, we have failed for years in the past, it's nothing we're learning. Once Kirbyville has a state trophy, then they can bring meaning to all the talk. Until then, it is just "meaningless" talk.
