You know you don't meet many men in this old world. I grew up with my daddy telling me it takes a real man to admit when you've been wrong. I try to do it, not always successfully, and I recognize when someone else makes that effort. I have been wrong many times and today was no exception. I accept your apology and offer mine to you. Your a man in my eyes and yes here is your karma. :)

Why is everyone so SCARED of humor?

In Newton an 18 year old senior would already be married to his sister. -

You know those purses sometimes have all she owns in them and would make a NFL tackles knees buckle trying to pick it up. -

Newton had a stadium face lift this summer and everything is real nice, except I don't have a cup holder on my arm rest in my reserve seat and when I get to foaming at the mouth, sometimes my drink slips through my hand from all that foam and seems to always land on this real nice blue haired lady that sits in front of me. Come to think of it though, she really wasn't that nice the last two times that happened. -
People mistakenly think the only way that you are good at what you do is being recognized as being the "best". Striving to do your best is all anyone really can do and then let the chips fall where they may. Recognition sometimes is overrated in that context. Being recognized by your peers as the "best" should be an honor to be appreciated.

WT wasn't defensive coordinator in '98 when Newton won the title over Daingerfield. Johnny "Squat Low" Westbrook was and had been for many years. When he retired WT became DC. I like WT and he is a fine coach. I think his tutelage by Lidney Thompson probably helped some, but I'm not too sure he would come back to Newton if given a chance. Hopefully he will. He has a way of motivating kids to play for him.
Dang BooBoo do you ever get a fact right?????
I don't have to, I'm not on Jeopardy. :D
Champ, he wasn't refering to you. ;D
Well the shoe fit, I was wrong! Can't blame me for being a little trigger happy! Sorry. I'll try to do better, but no promises. Why does either coach have to be "better" than the other. It's an argument that can never be settled. They both are good at what they do.

Most of the time it means that 6 idiots agreed with you and 4 idiots didn't with your post on this board. I'm simply using the idiot thing because it seems to crop up a lot in peoples posting when they are really struggling to answer a point well made. No reflection on you or Kirbyville, and really it means nothing. ;D
If you look up the definition of "rain and cold weather" in Websters Dictionary it says: how you play football in Southeast Texas! No worries, this is just normal, especially for this season! p.s. Hey Snooks, Websters Dictionary is a large book that explains the meanings of words and phrases! just trying to help! LOL!
And nowadays most computers not only spell check, but grammer check.

WHO HAS THE BEST SHOT AT STATE...KIRBYVILLE or NEWTON
ChampionEagles replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Both will face tough opponents with the possibility of rematches. Muleshoe is undefeated so far and Daingerfield's only loss came at the hands of the number 1 ranked 3a Gilmer. Maybe this time around both teams will fair better against these foes if they get the chance. -
I reread and see your not taking credit for the people named. My mistake. The rest of the analogy stands. How many coaches are no longer in the coaching field either because of age, monetary needs or other factors? I believe Coach Harper from Burkeville left the profession a few years back to take care of an ailing family member. He is now back coaching. If your not currently employed as a coach does that mean you know nothing of coaching?
-
OK taking your analogy a little further, that would mean as a high school coach he can not be considered a coach because he don't coach at a college level, therefore he is no coach, if he were he would be coaching on Saturday on the sidelines. And college coaches are not coaches because they are not on the sidelines coaching on Sunday? And your taking total credit for those people you named because they were never "coached" at a high school level?

2A Moving to Split-Conference Alignment
ChampionEagles replied to cowboys's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I feel for Deweyvilles travel woes, but also Newton's. Kirbyville and Buna are the only teams in the proposed district with less than an hour travel time. Anahuac is 2 hours, Winnie and Hardin are 1.5 hours, and Kountze is 1+ hours. This directly translates into fewer fans for road games which gives "home field advantage" a new meaning. Is this what they meant by "more of a chance to win"? -

ChampionEagles replied to cowboys's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
These can't be based on the snapshot numbers just taken. The districts could change based on if some of these teams go up or down, right. If not why wait until february to release the cutoff numbers for each classification. But the UIL knows all. -
Maybe I was wrong about this being the last year to play each other. After attempting to read the UIL proposal about split conferences, I'm not sure if both Newton and Kirbyville may be playing in a six-man league in West Texas somewhere next year. And after seeing the post about the districts maybe we should go to six-man. :D
People will not care about the cost. They just want a chance to win. School with 210 cant compete with school of 430. Same in 3a with schools of 440 competing with schools of 900. It will pass.
I agree that they don't care about the cost, but the part about can't compete is a copout. If you want to win you have to build a program. To build a program go get a good quality coach and give him time and support to build from within. Upgrade facilities to have something to build with. Community support through thick and thin plays a big part in winning programs. Wanting a chance to win and doing something about a chance to win are two different things.
