  2. You know you don't meet many men in this old world. I grew up with my daddy telling me it takes a real man to admit when you've been wrong. I try to do it, not always successfully, and I recognize when someone else makes that effort. I have been wrong many times and today was no exception. I accept your apology and offer mine to you. Your a man in my eyes and yes here is your karma. :)
  3. Newton had a stadium face lift this summer and everything is real nice, except I don't have a cup holder on my arm rest in my reserve seat and when I get to foaming at the mouth, sometimes my drink slips through my hand from all that foam and seems to always land on this real nice blue haired lady that sits in front of me. Come to think of it though, she really wasn't that nice the last two times that happened.

One point here, if I may. WT wasn't defensive coordinator in '98 when Newton won the title over Daingerfield. Johnny "Squat Low" Westbrook was and had been for many years. When he retired WT became DC. I like WT and he is a fine coach. I think his tutelage by Lidney Thompson probably helped some, but I'm not too sure he would come back to Newton if given a chance. Hopefully he will. He has a way of motivating kids to play for him.

Well the shoe fit, I was wrong! Can't blame me for being a little trigger happy! Sorry. I'll try to do better, but no promises. Why does either coach have to be "better" than the other. It's an argument that can never be settled. They both are good at what they do.

If you look up the definition of "rain and cold weather" in Websters Dictionary it says: how you play football in Southeast Texas! No worries, this is just normal, especially for this season!

p.s. Hey Snooks, Websters Dictionary is a large book that explains the meanings of words and phrases! just trying to help! LOL!

And nowadays most computers not only spell check, but grammer check.

  9. I reread and see your not taking credit for the people named. My mistake. The rest of the analogy stands. How many coaches are no longer in the coaching field either because of age, monetary needs or other factors? I believe Coach Harper from Burkeville left the profession a few years back to take care of an ailing family member. He is now back coaching. If your not currently employed as a coach does that mean you know nothing of coaching?
  10. OK taking your analogy a little further, that would mean as a high school coach he can not be considered a coach because he don't coach at a college level, therefore he is no coach, if he were he would be coaching on Saturday on the sidelines. And college coaches are not coaches because they are not on the sidelines coaching on Sunday? And your taking total credit for those people you named because they were never "coached" at a high school level?
  11. I feel for Deweyvilles travel woes, but also Newton's. Kirbyville and Buna are the only teams in the proposed district with less than an hour travel time. Anahuac is 2 hours, Winnie and Hardin are 1.5 hours, and Kountze is 1+ hours.  This directly translates into fewer fans for road games which gives "home field advantage" a new meaning. Is this what they meant by "more of a chance to win"?
  12. Maybe I was wrong about this being the last year to play each other. After attempting to read the UIL proposal about split conferences, I'm not sure if both Newton and Kirbyville may be playing in a six-man league in West Texas somewhere next year. And after seeing the post about the districts maybe we should go to six-man.  :D
