1. From what I understand, one of the players that participated in this event was dismissed from the baseball team.
 2. The Woodlands vs. Lufkin at Abe Martin.
 3. Sounds like he was passed over for a job because the other candidate was willing (or able) to accept coaching duties.  Let's see...he's a former teacher that is currently working on his master's degree in secondary education.  It does not sound like he is leaving the profession. You'd be surprised how many teachers hate coaches just because they are coaches.  I have heard comments that they are not full time teachers.  The last time I checked, coaches work more hours than teachers.  At the secondary level, coaches help to ensure that classroom management for ALL teachers is paramount to ensure the most conducive teaching environment.  Mr. Dickerson probably fits the mold of anti-coach until he has a problem with an athlete in which case he is the first one to send an e-mail to a coach to solve HIS problem.

I , for one , will support coach Murr completly even though I wanted someone that was home grown, worked his butt off for 7 years (IN ANAHUAC) to prepare for the job, who holds a masters degree, and PLANNED to be a part of the community for his entire career.  And I think the community will rally behind coach Murr as eventually, its just not what we wanted and only time will tell if he stays long term, and builds a good program.  Here's hoping ..........................
Boy!  With that sound endorsement, how could Coach Murr help but not get all tingly inside?! ::) ::) ::)
and im sure that he is all tingly inside knowing someone who obviously spends an enourmous amount of his time "administrating an online forum" has his back. You are attempting to make my comments into something they are not meant to imply. No offense to the people who use this platform to speak thier mind but you got what 28000 + posts on here (get a freakin life), I would think the new coach would rather have the "sound" support of just about anyone other than a gossip guru. Which resembles your comment about him picking someplace other than Anahuac, Tx be beef up his resume.
Speaking from experience....This guy probably won't be heard from for a while.  Anytime you take on the law....the law always wins.  With that being said, I agree with WOSgrad. I find it funny reading all of these comments about the Anahuac Community's interest in this hiring.  Having spent a bunch of time at Anahuac games over the past few years, here is what I can tell you about their support of the football program.  IT STINKS!  You guys have had some good teams and GREAT athletes come through there over the last several years.  I've seen the stands full for a home game until after halftime and then seen them clear out before the third quarter starts.  The explanation I got..."Oh, most people just come to see the award winning band, then they leave."  I was in Winnie two years ago (I think), when Anahuac lost 13-12 on a blocked extra point.  After the game, I watched a man verbally attack someone, who he thought was Coach Barbay's wife, about play calling and how much her husband sucked.  15 or 20 other people were gathered in the stands cheering him on as he wore her out!  Turned out, it was another coaches wife.  The worst part of that story is that no one stepped in to intervene.  NO ONE.  Many just ducked their heads and got out of there as quickly as they could.  Finally myself and a Chambers county sheriff forced the guy to leave.  He was later arrested for continuing to get mouthy with people in the parking lot.  You guys do not have the right to have your voice heard until it is proven that you will support the boys and the coaches day in and day out.  I wish Coach Murr much luck.  He is going to need it in that community.
The athletic program historically has rarely had any support.  I have seen it over the last 20 years.  If the town wants to take a step in the right direction, they need to do away with the superintendent and find one that supports the athletic program as a whole.  It is disappointing as a native of the town to see Anahuac not succeed consistently.  Incognito123 is correct when he said that there is not a lot of community support.  Most people have the youth football coach/armchair quarterback mentality where they believe they can do a better job.  Also, there are many external factors outside the school system as a whole that do not breed success for the youth of Anahuac.  IT IS A DIFFICULT PLACE TO LIVE AND WORK.
 5. Where did he come from?  Haven't been following closely.
 6.
There is always going to be disagreement with new coaches and a superintendent, but unless they are asking you to clean toliets you learn to work through them.  What is bad about this whole situation is that the coaches and their families have been put in jeopardy of having to move with a new hire.  Maybe before a HC ups and resigns he should think of the whole picture and what are some other ways to remedy it.  If it is just because of coaches teaching, grow-up.  Alot of 5A coaches teach, but again in some wealthy districts the OC and DC may not teach, but in these financial times one should think before put others jobs in jeopardy. Not employed in district, just like the sports.
Even the OC and DC at The Woodlands have a full-time class load.
 7. Word is that Wallace transferred to Whitehouse.  He was not at the game at The Woodlands.
H-F always has some big, athletic looking players but always seem to be missing something.  Maybe their new coach has them heading in the right direction.  There is no shame for H-F losing to Anahuac, year in and year out a solid football team.  Buna looked quite impressive in the first half Friday, but OF seemed to shut them down a bit in the second half.  My opinion, too many runs to the outside for the Coogs, not enough smashmouth football up the middle.  QB looked good, but needs better protection from the line to have time to find his receivers.  As they mature the next few games before district, this could be the best Buna team we have seen in a several years.  Gotta go with my Cougars in this one.  Good luck to all.  GO BUNA!!!
That is saying a lot.  The '07 squad was good losing to district champs EC by 1.  Would have went further in the playoffs if it wasn't for drawing Newton in the 1st round (they lost to eventual state finalist Tatum.)
 9.
There was a time when the thought of all classes having their championship all contested at the same venue was a dream...one that the UIL never really cared to share prior to the era of televising the championship games.  However, that was a time when 5 11-man titles were being decided, not 9.   Now, as a fan, it would be cool to OD on championship high school football.  However, I never thought that the 2 coaches contesting the championship ever did a bad job of deciding where the ultimate game should be played.  It was generally a point that was less stressful on travel budgets on both teams alike.  And where appropriate, the coaches were able to secure marquee venues like the Astrodome, the Alamodome, Reliant Stadium and Texas Stadium, along with other grand venues like Kyle Field and Darrel K. Royal Memorial Stadium so it is not like the young men who contested these titles were playing them in 500 seat stadiums.   I guess it kind of irritates me that the UIL does this, as AAW and ECBucFan correctly note, for purposes of further lining their pockets and then tries to feed me the line that it to "allow the young men to play in venues that they never would have played in otherwise."  Bull, as I noted above, they were playing in those venues when they spread out.  Second, I knew a number of those that played for the 4A State Championship in 1986 and 87 and those young men would have played on any 100 x 53 1/3 yard space regardless of whether it was in the grandest of stadiums or in a pasture between Winnie and Anahuac as long as they were competing for that title.  I suspect that many of those who have had the opportunity to do the same would share the same point of view.   But I understand that my thought will not prevail and that all games will be held in one venue.  But IF that is done, why is that not done as it is done in EVERY other sport that the UIL sanctions....that is have the competition in Austin, Texas.  Darrell K. Royal Stadium has the LARGEST regular seating capacity in the State of Texas.  It is mystifying why the home base of the UIL is more than sufficient to host the finals for all sports, except one...and interestingly enough that one is a sport that, with due respect to all of the others, kind of defines Texas high school sports!  It even makes economic sense as FOX Sports would still pay the UIL a king's ransom to broadcast these games and the UIL's parent, gets the gate and concessions.  Please spare me the weather arguments, this is Texas, not Alaska, we are talking about. But I am one voice in an unincorporated part of Harris County.
Two years ago that argument would have been null and void as Royal Memorial Stadium was a grass surface.  With field turf, it can host as many games a time allows.
 10. Congratulations.  I hope you do well in a greyhound uniform.  Portales is a nice small town.  Good place to be if you're from Anahuac.
 11.
Mamma Jacks in Kountze?
I second that choice.
 12. Philip Davis was a good one in the late 90s.
 13. ET will win this game handily.  I was personally pulling for RRSP, but they did not get the job done.  It will be close in the first half, and ET will win running away in the 2nd half.
