Lufkin could have done anything they wanted.  The only entertainment the game brought was a 72-yard punt by the quarterback and betting the over/under how many plays it would take for Lufkin's offense to score.  It was usually less than six. 

Tyler Lee has played a brutal schedule to date: Euless Trinity, Lufkin, John Tyler, & The Woodlands.  Now, they have not won a game, but this squad is full of athletes.  The sophomore running back they have is a stud.  They gave The Woodlands all they wanted.  If they get firing on all cylinders, beware...If West Brook gets on them early, they are likely to lay it down.

[/quote] I'll put it this way...you don't get sarcasm or history.  I believe the Union won the Civil War, but I may have to check my sources. What I do know is that Anahuac has been good the past couple of seasons under Darrell Barbay.  The Newton/Anahuac game will be very interesting.  We are talking about two areas that always have athletes.  Historically, Anahuac has had a hard time with leadership.  For the first time in several decades, the school has a program in place with somebody who has a vested interest in the athletes at Anahuac, not false pretenses, and for the first time in 20 years the football team has the belief that they can do well and maintain it from year to year.  Newton is Newton.  They are always competitive at the highest level in whichever classification they have been in. Nobody else in the district has the athletes that these two schools have and will beat each other up in district.  I believe Woodville will come out on top. Read a book...you might learn something.

I watched them play last week.  With the athletes they have in the backfield, they can beat anybody in 5A.  Deauntre Smiley is the real deal.

It is a little more scandalous than what most people know.  Let's put it this way:  The town was a little unhappy about the decision the administration made, regardless of the contract situation.  To be honest, I think the contract situation was more of an excuse as to why he did not take the position.  From what I understand (and this is hearsay) the people were unhappy about the decision that wasn't made.

I'll be watching The Woodlands vs. Monterrey Tech. out of Mexico.  From what I understand it will be an interesting match-up.

This is a difficult issue.  Who would Chester play?  That is one thing that administration needs to consider.

Anahuac vs. Newton Battle of the Barbays

I figured Jason Broomas would have received the Coach of the Year award.  He took Anahuac from the district cellar to fighting for a district championship.  If anything, Buna underperformed this year.  Coach Pavliska from Hardin would have been a good choice as well.

Also, I would like to applaud the coaching staff at Anahuac.  Coach Broomas, in my opinion, deserves coach of the year for district 23-AA.  Good job getting the guys motivated to play some good baseball.

Way to compete Panthers.  Nobody expected you guys to perform as well as y'all did this year.  Congratulations on a good season and use it as a stepping stone for next year.

I'm assuming that the start time is still 7:00 p.m.; watching the weather now and it looks like a possibility of Woodville receiving some of this rain. 

I'm not the one to favor Hardin in any contest.  However, I would like to see them knock off New Waverly.

When and where will this series occur?

If you look at the UIL website.  24-AA only has two teams listed as eligible baseball schools.  It looks like Hardin will be playing the second-place team out of that district, and Buna and Anahuac will have first round byes.  Correct me if I am wrong, but it is looking like Anahuac will be playing Shelbyville in the Area round.
