1. I would only consider Kirbyville and Newton tough.  As far as the district as a whole is concerned, it is very weak.  Hemphill has to return to their late 90s and early 2000s form, and Woodville needs to become more consistent for this to be the toughest district in the state.
 2.
EXACTLY..that was totally uncalled for!!!
How is a legal block "totally uncalled for?"  The only time it gets illegal is when you cut somebody on special teams or when a defensive lineman is "high/lowed."  If he is in the box, his knees are fair game.  Believe it or not, Kirbyville has been guilty of illegal cut blocks.  In 2001, an Anahuac player had his season ended prematurely when he was cut on a kick-off.  It happens.  The play being referenced from last year was a play from scrimmage, not a kick-off.
 3. They are in the same district as the Plano schools.  I believe they have the fourth largest enrollment in the state but the top two made the playoffs (Plano.)
 4.
I have been quiet for some time now but will have to wey in on this one.  I dont appreciate the 50-6 comment.  Especially the "not even close".Maybe they wont win. But it will be closer than 50-6. I know I am bias (my son plays for HD)the same son who blocked #6 from Burkeville into the ground when he tried to make that tackle on the first play of the HD vs Burkeville game and probably injured his shoulder a little before Gilmore ran him over in the second quarter and he stopped all that dancing he was doing prior to the opening kickoff. The Bobcats will do better against the Lions than the Mustangs did against the Bobcats.  No one will score 50 points against the Bobcats.
This has to be the worst post in the history of public forums.  If I were your son, I would put my foot in your ass for throwing me under the bus.  People do watch film, and your statement could potentially put a bullseye on him.  Also, it sounds to me that you are vicariously living your life through your son's.  I feel sorry for your child(ren.)
 5. I would like to see the game played at Lumberton or Babe Zaharias.  Silsbee is also a good choice, but it is too close to Kirbyville.  It could get real interesting by playing at PAM.
 6.
more than likely lufkin or nacogdoches
Do you know where Anahuac is?  More than likely it will be a Beaumont area school like LCM (last year's site.)
 7.

Traylon Shead is hands down the best running back in Texas. This kid is the first 1A skilled player to ever get a full ride scholarship offer to the University of Texas. He stands 6'3 215 lbs and runs a 4.3 forty. Traylon scored 52 TD's last year. Traylon Shead is #2 in career rushing yards for the State of Texas, with 8,988 yards so far. Traylon is behind the great Kenny Hall from Sugarland who rushed for 11,232 yards from 1950-1953. There is talk of him starting for the Longhorns as a freshman next year. He is bad to the bone, and remember he is playing on a 1A team Cayuga. Check out this link, it will blow your mind. He destroys power house teams like Alto and many others all through the video !!! [Hidden Content]
Well, you got two things right.  He's going to Texas and he's second all time in yards.  There is absolutely zero talk about him starting at Texas as a freshmen by anybody with a brain.  He runs a 4.5 at best.  Only 4 players ran a sub 4.4 at last years NFL combine, and none of them were running backs.  Just to give you a little perspective Jamaal Charles ran a 4.38 at the combine in 08.  All that being said I'm a huge Horns fan and hope he does great at UT.  And for the record, the best RB in texas is between Herschel Sims, Malcolm Brown, or Aaron Green.
Don't forget Daniel Lasco of The Woodlands and Nlemchi of Cinco Ranch.
 8. How much time is left in the game?
 9.
I guess he means that they read on a 1st grade level when they graduate high school.
 10.
To many if's, and's, and but's....pretty sure they won't be convicted by a Liberty County Grand Jury.  Sounds like some typical Cleveland bs.
They have to be indicted by the Grand jury before it even goes to trial, and they face the possibility of conviction.
 11. For each district's all-district selections to be released, all teams from the said district have to be finished their seasons.  The picks will already be made but cannot be released.  Just to clarify Bobby Light's reply.
 12.
It's mind bottling and allsome all at once.  ;D
Whoa!  I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe.  It is mind boggling and awesome.
 13. If they are playing Klein there should be no problems.  They are small and only two guys on the team have any speed.
 14.
okay, i'm from New Caney and saw every game but one this year. (Was on my honeymoon or would have been there). I believe the head coach to be a good man but let his coordinators control too much of the game. Especially the offensive coordinator who happened to be his son. The offensive coordinator was slow all year to get plays in. Did not seem like he ever thought ahead for the next play. I can't tell you how many times they took stupid timeouts because of this. He was too young and just not ready to be in the position he was in, especially at the 5A level. I do not have the stats to support this but would bet they only averaged 3to 5 passes a game. Defences pack it in tight. Do not believe we ran a single reverse all season. Granted it was hard for NC to compete with only 28 kids suited out last night. Two of them were transported to the hospital with injuries. Next year New Caney will be 4A as well as Porter. Believe NC turned in 1537 at snapshot and Porter had 1407. The previous superintendent was very well liked in the community. He did have a problem with some of the board members. Politics that was not necessarily in the best interest of the student body. One of the board members who was up for re-election was defeated soundly by a record vote. The other two will probably not make it through the next election, they were not up for re-election last time. Personally, I like all of them. They are good people, just let some emotions get the best of them. I believe our AD will do a good job in getting the next coach. Only problem is we are a two high school district and the head football coach will be just that. Most of them are used to being the AD as well.
A lot of it has to do with the talent level that the district they are in.  New Caney could have the best coaches in the district and still not make the playoffs.  The only team they may possibly beat is College Park.  Also, being able to run the reverse will not score touchdowns if you cannot do it any other way.
 15. I realize the school is not happy about the direction the program is going in (mostly because of District 14-5A.)  But, I do not think firing the HC the morning after their last game is the message I would want to send as an administrator to the community.  What does everybody else think?
 16. BUMP for all of those folks in Kirbyville and Newton.
 17. This game has a lot of ramifications for the state playoffs: If Jefferson wins, they will make the playoffs as the D1 representative, sending Daingerfield to D2. If Jefferson loses, they will not make the playoffs and Daingerfield goes D1. There will be a lot of eyes on this game...NOBODY wants to play Daingerfield.
 18. As hyped as this game is I am going to say Kirbyville has much more to lose than Newton (regardless of the outcome.)  Once playoffs start, Corrigan-Camden will have something to say about Kirbyville advancing any further.  Many people on this forum have dismissed CC's chances of winning and have already played the game to be Anahuac vs. Kirbyville in the 2nd round.  As much as I would like to see that, I still think CC will win (consider this my sleeper pick.)  I'll take Newton in a 10 point victory, 24-14.
 19. I'm going to take Anahuac in this game.  They will win it easily although it will not be too lopsided (100-0) because the two coaching staffs have respect for one another and will not let any players become embarrassed as a result of being outmatched (as far as talent is concerned.)
 20. Not only does it complicate Texas high school football, but it makes a mockery of it.  The same good teams are still going to make it to the playoffs because they are good teams.  I would actually like to see who makes it to the playoffs (regardless of size) and compare their records to the now-antiquated three-team format.  The next complaint we will hear is only TWO teams from each district will be put into the playoffs.  There is no other word to describe this than STUPID!
 21.

WOW!! Look at the district that Deweyville got stuck in. Talk about your travel expenses!! District 12 Deweyville Garrison Groveton New Waverly San Augustine Shelbyville
Unbelievable, the amount of travel time associated with this District is crazy.
There is no way Deweyville will ever be successful with this format (if this is the district they are in.)  People have to remember that coaches do not get paid very well and are humans.  It is very difficult to keep people in Deweyville.  This would make it even more difficult to keep coaches there.  It does not end with football.  Some schools are going to experience success in this format and propose something similar to this for other sports.  It too will be passed, creating "hellacious" Tuesdays and Fridays.  With some of the pressure these coaches experience on the teaching side, I would not be surprised that many get out of coaching because many would view the position as undesirable.  It is very sad considering how revered these positions are in society.
 22. Ideally, it looks good on paper.  The big schools play the big schools, etc. Logistically, it will be a nightmare across the state.  Travel times for many 2A schools are already pretty lengthy.  Sub-varsity teams will be affected the most.  The question that will be posed is:  Are the games going to start at the same times and students get out of class earlier, or are games going to be scheduled later in the evening and get home even later.  We'll see when next year's football season rolls around how it going to work out.  Looks like we'll have plenty of mad mothers to come on this site and bash the coaches for what they do.
