Here is the article in Baytown Sun....... Autographed Saints helmet tops Crosby fundraiser By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published February 19, 2010 Crosby head football coach Kevin Flanigan is heading up a Saturday fundraiser for the family of one his players that is dealing with health and resulting financial hardships. Madison Brown is 11 years old and is suffering from acute myelogenous leukemia. “Her body has hardened from the disease and her brother, who plays for us, gave her a bone transplant,†Flanigan said. “She can’t sit up, walk or even lift her arms. Just last summer, she was in the hospital for 70 consecutive days.†The hardships don’t end there for the family. Flanigan’s football player has Crohn’s disease and the father has cancer and multiple sclerosis. “They’re such a great family,†Flanigan said. “The mother is a kindergarten teacher.†Saturday at 4 p.m. on the fairgrounds in Crosby, Flanigan will help put together a fundraiser for the family. “There will be a big auction, a band, and a lot of food and games,†he said. “We’ll be raffling off a helmet from the (Super Bowl champion) New Orleans Saints and we’ll get it signed by whomever the winner wants from the Saints.†The other major sports-related item is a Pete Rose signed jersey. “If anyone wants to bid on the helmet, they can e-mail me what they want to bid, and I’ll submit the bid. Right now it’s up to $450,†Flanigan said. His e-mail address is kflanigan(at)crsobyisd.org. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baytown Lee's Coaches Discuss Going to 4A
bigdaddyblue replied to bh89-2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Its so funny when people talk about the 6th,7th,8th,and 9th grade teams..Crosby won district and that group of kids may have won a total of 6 games from there 7th-9th grade... -
Typical politician BS..Worried about travel and we are playing Montgomery in football...The volleyball team this year went to Beaumont 2 times for a tournament...Baseball will be going to KILGORE for a tournament, that will be hotel bills.Baseball also going to Huntsville and LCM...For a property poor school district seems like we can travel all around Vidor..I wish the newspaper in Vidor would of brought up all this travel this spring.....

BH Hires Two-time State Champ Coach - Ronnie Gage
Explain that one Lion1. Gage has more experience and football knowledge than anyone on the current staff. Don't forget he has two 5A state championships. I don't see anyone on the current staff with those credentials.
You seem to forget about the number of D-1 kids and athletes he had on those teams....When is the last time BH has had a D-1 kid???? -
Crosby Vs. Montgomery week Zero.....Nice!!!!
Everything begins and ends with the Hogs up front! I have always felt like the best returning teams are usually those that return their OLines and DLines. If you can protect the QB and put pressure on the QB/RB you halve won 755 of the battle!
Hey badndn look forward going back to the Resv this year..Just hope a different outcome.... -
Crosby Vs. Montgomery week Zero.....Nice!!!!
bigdaddyblue replied to mfbarnes52's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
All these players you listed were seniors with the exception of Forrest Tyler..... -
The safety concerns were with the Crosby School board member of playing @Vidor and the name it represents from the past...Crosby backed out..Vidor was willing to come to Crosby.......
-
Do we have to go threw metal detectors at Dawson???If we do, the school board will feel at home.....

Coogs only return 2-OL,1-receiver,and QB on offense...Rebuilding year on offense... -
Crosby did not have Dawson scheduled, they were a backup not knowing what district we were to be put in and if we needed to have 4 non district games they were to be that team...If i can remember several years back after another Dayton arss whipping in Dayton..The school board members son was caught doing some damage to the locker room and was pointed out by some Dayton middle school coaches..Well he called momma on the bus ride back and she was there waiting and it turned into a racial thing and it was swept under the rug....

Post Non-District Opponents Here!!!!

Crosby Montgomery PNG (will play @PNG again) Pearland Dawson in place of Vidor.... That has got to be the toughest 4A Non-District schedule in area...... -
Well all that we have been hearing is all true..Can not blame coaches..Got to blame people like hitman009 who lives where the #1 place in Harris County for unsolved murders and the #1 area in Harris County for money laundering businesses from drugs, all within Crosby ISD borders...If i was Vidor i would be scared to come to Crosby and i forgot about the shooting at the High School 20 years ago..Whats really amazing is how quiet there trying to keep a lid on this..Players did not have any idea about the game cancellation with Vidor or any of the parents..Whats really amazing is the majority of school board members went along with this because they were afraid to be called a racist..Sure wish somehow the Supt. could explain his reason in public...I really hope somehow we end up playing Vidor in the playoffs next year..
-
Talked to 2 board members and got the no comment answer...Seems like the whole school board would of had to vote on this and if they did i sure want to find out how the vote went..I told them i bet you don't have to walk thru metal detectors at Vidors's stadium, but we have to when you play over at North Forest..So which place would seem safer???Need to get the Baytown Sun going on this to try and get some answers....

The majority of students white and black live in the Newport subdivision only a small percentage live in Barrett, but they have 2 school board members that still think its the 60's and then all the other board members have no guts because they are worried about the race card..Last year tried to get a bond pass for new school and to update facilities it did not pass due to the school would of had been to be built across 90 to satisfy the few in Barrett..So this does not surprise me at all...Crosby ISD is still under some Federal BS because of what happened in the past..Thats why the few in Barrett control everything in CISD..The school board was going to try and get out of the Federal BS because we have bent over backwards for the last 30 years to meet all the standards for race equality in the schools..They held a rally at school board meeting stating that Crosby would go back to the way it was in the 60's and 70's..So the no guts school board members did nothing......

Y'all just mad cuz he had sense enough to move into a winning program and now unlike when he was in Gooberville is getting all kinda offers to play college ball. He was the best player in Crosby and y'all lost him to a real program. So shut your mouths about my boy
He moves to Dayton and makes only 2nd team all district..His junior year in Crosby he is first team all-district...Must be the coaching!!!!!!!!! -
Who Will Be The Next Barbers Hill HC?
bigdaddyblue replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well don't be surprised but i would be willing to bet your next HC has some deep BH/Cove/Old River roots, that go back many years ago and he has a pretty good program over at Giddings...Money may be the reason or the love to get back to the Hill...To bad someone from Crosby had to know this first......My money is on Fitzhenry...... -
TCU may be a good fit but with all of their success lately I bet they can recruit alot better QB then Merka. Houston is a passing team and would not be a good fit either. Maybe Kansas or Baylor would be better fits. LSU would be the place that I would be focusing on if I were Merka but I doubt that he will get an offer and they have a bunch of talent over there that he would have to beat out. If he gets an offer to A&M he better jump on it.
From what i hear TCU wants him bigtime...Prolly be the first to offer....
-
If he is not a QB he would be going to SFA..I don't see SFA on list below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! December 16, 2009 Jeremiah Glenn PurpleMenace.com Staff Writer Talk about it in Hell's Half Acre At 6'4" and 205 pounds, Dominic Merka out of Crosby, TX sure looks the part. Possessing a big arm and the skill set of a top flight quarterback, Merka is poised to make a lot of noise during his senior year. PurpleMenace.Com caught up with the young signal caller to get his thoughts on the early stages of the recruiting process. Merka is drawing interest from TCU and others "It's going pretty well right now" said Merka. "I'm hearing from mostly Big 12 schools and then TCU and Houston are sending me letters and stuff like that." With letters pouring in from schools throughout the Southwest, the Crosby, TX native looks like he'll be in high demand. Although he has yet to receive an offer, the talented Texan is hearing from some of the top teams in the region. Baylor, Texas A&M, Kansas, TCU, LSU, Houston and others are working hard to get their foot in the door but Merka seems to be in no hurry to immerse himself in the waters of the recruiting game just yet. "I don't have any offers yet so it's kind of hard to say what I'm looking for in a school" explained Merka. "Once I start getting offers I'll know more what I'm looking for. I really don't know what I'm going to study or anything like that so I don't know which schools I'm going to focus on." One school that may have caught his eye is TCU. Merka was on campus at TCU for a camp this past summer but he didn't get to see much of the Horned Frog campus. After displaying his talents on the TCU practice fields for everyone in attendance, merka took a minute to browse around just a bit. "I walked around a little after the camp" he said. "I walked over and looked at the stadium and looked around the campus a little but the coaches weren't with me so I didn't see that much." While it's still early in the process for Merka, he saw enough at TCU to interest him. So does he plan on visiting TCU again in the future? Only time will tell but he's definitely one to keep an eye on. Stay logged on to PurpleMenace.Com to follow Merka's recruitment and for the most up to date recruiting information available in the country.

Hey buckin bronco 09,from what i remember in your game against the Merka kid or you prolly don't want to remember he ran right over you several times...Oh that could be the reason your going to SFA and Merka is going D1...
-
Come on guys its not all coaching thats led to Dayton's success..On one other post there was a list of kids that Dayton has put in the college ranks..Thats a lot of talent that has come through Dayton HS...I can only think of maybe 2 kids from Crosby in the last 5 years with D-1 or D-1AA talent,Baylor & UTEP....It has more to do with talent...

First time this year all within one hour i have agreed with Bronc1 and Dayton ...Must be the Christmas time!!!!!!!!!

I think King will go with the Humble schools since there next to the new SummerCreek School..I hope it would be GP and go with a 6 team district....
I agree.... I was thinking BH, GCM, Lee, Crosby, Dayton would all be in there together.
Hey Dayton we agree on something!!!!!!Just add another schoool and we have a 6 team district.........
