I was so sadden by this news. I went to high school with Shane and new his family very well. Shane had brain aneurysms and had surgery about a year ago. Due to this surgery he had to pretty much learn to walk, eat, talk all over again. Makes you wonder what was going through Shane's mind the last few days of his life. I pray for his wife, kids, and family. So sad!!! :'( :'( :'(

Unfortunately I have to agree that Buna has the better team. Buna has always been tough! I am looking forward to seeing Kville and Buna play even though I know the outcome, I still think it will be a good game. Anyone can beat on any given day! Hey, who knows...Kville might surprise you, wouldnt be the first time! And as for as the other 2A schools..sorry were leaving you out! Not intentional I can assure you.

Very strong statement calling out Vidor. How do you know Kirbyville is a better district? Have you been involved with both or are you just speculating because of things you have heard. If you are going to make statements referring to another school district you need to have backup. What are their TAKS scores in comparison to each other or are you talking football because Kirbyville did so well this year in football. Just curious why you think that? I actually went to Vidor for several years, and Yes I think Kirbyville is a better district. Sorry. But I have experienced both schools personally. I'm not sure of Vidors TAKS Scores, but Kirbyville is a "Recognized Campus" and has been for several years!

Im just curious, did the buses run for the baseball and tennis teams as well? or just football, basketball and track?

I for one do know Dr. Burns. Our kids play sports together, and I'm sorry, but I'm sad to see him go. He's a good man who strives for the best. Kirbyville has done very good academically since Burns has been at the helm. I'm honestly in shock right now. I cant believe he would leave. I dont understand why he would want to leave, but who knows. I'm glad for him if he feels his calling is in Vidor. Personally, Kirbyville is a much better school district than Vidor, jmo, I just hope he made the right decision. I also think Hazelwood would make a great Sup. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

I think Aaron Walters and Barry Burley should have been on this list. Both key atheletes to Kirbyville's program and both were awesome this year. JMO!!

Whats funny is that most of you may not know this..but Kirbyville lost a ton of players last year. All of the Seniors quit along with some other KEY players, so this was a VERY young team that got beat last year. I expect more from them this year. They may not beat Buna, but they will definetely not be a push over!

Go Kirbyville...Kville will dominate tennis as usual!!!! The only school in the entire area that has dominated its district for 17 years straight!

well there may be more to 1a-2a than just kirbyville, but there were only 4 teams that went to that title game in 2a and as for as I'm concerned, Kirbyville deserved more love..sorry..jmo! And kids from caluga...where the heck is caluga anyway? Did they even make it to the playoffs? I think its disrespectful to these kids who play their hearts out, make it to the title game and this is how easttexassports.com repays them for it? 2nd and 3rd string..oh yea and honorable mention. You know I dont know about you Newton fans but frankly I'm sick of dfield fans. They are so egotistical! Franknbeans you say your boys "LET" Newton back in the 2nd half..how about this...NEWTON DOMINATED YOUR TEAM IN THE 2ND HALF!!! A team that you and your fans said wouldnt be able to do anything against your tigers. Yea the bottom line is Newton lost, but you know it wasnt by 60 nor 40 nor 20 it was by 3, 3 points that could have gone either way. So you tiger nation freaks need to have a little more respect for those newton kids. They played their hearts out and almost sent you home! WAY TO GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!

My fondest memory would have to be EVERY SINGLE GAME played by the Kirbyville Wildcats! They had an amazing season and one that I will that I WILL NEVER FORGET!!! Thanks for the memories boys! ALWAYS YOUR #1 FAN....GO WILDCATS!!!!

Ok..I really dont get why WOS has to have buses to bring kids home after athletic practice. I have never heard of this. I'm not sure how many other schools do it, but I think its rediculous! My parents struggled when I was growing up and I even went through a period where it was just me and my mother, and I still managed to make it to all my practices and make it home! If these kids really want to play then they will find a way..but paying for buses to run after they have already dropped kids off after school and then turn around and come pick up athletes and drop them off too...is just retarded imo! We have disadvantaged kids here and everywhere for that matter and they dont have this privilige but they still seem to make it home! And if WOS does take it away and these so called kids you all are talking about DO drop out..that will be just an excuse. As for as I'm concerned..those are the kids that have NO HEART, NO DETERMINATION AND NO AMBITION!!! JMO!!!
