aki1994...you seem close to the program...what do you think of the 2021 team? Will the soph or frosh QB fight for the starting spot? I hear that both can sling the ball around. Do we have some talent at the RB and WR spots? And, the $1M dollar question, how will the defense stack up next season. I keep hearing that the frosh and soph groups have some talent on both sides of the ball. Can you confirm? Out of town alumni say thanks for the update. Go Indians. Peace.

Play the best 11 kids on offense, defense, and special teams. Going both ways will not hurt the kids or their performance. They are 15-18 year old kids, in good shape, and resilient. They will not drop dead from fatigue due to a HS football game. Play the best kids in all three phases of the game. If parents complain, tell them and their kids to get better in practice and earn their spot on Friday night. I will never understand the mantra, I will not play kids both ways. Go Indians. Peace.

I'd say, great season Crosby. Hold your head high. You played hard, and I hope that you had fun and enjoyed the ride. To Aledo, give your recruiting coordinator a raise. He or she has brought in some great talent year after year. The Bearcat OL was big, strong, and mobile. The RB and WR were top notch. The transfer QB from San Diego, CA was a smooth game manager and distributor of the football. Not every HS program has an abundance of OL kids 6'4" - 6'6" and 250 lbs. - 295 lbs. Keep that recruiting pipeline wide open. Go Indians. Peace.

What do the posters here think about President Trump skipping the inauguration of President-elect Biden? Sore loser? Do not care? The election was stolen and President Trump should never recognize the Biden Presidency and Administration? President Trump should man-up and attend? Show some leadership and make a gesture to heal America? The last time a President did not attend a successor’s inauguration was 1974 when President Nixon left the White House under the cloud of Watergate. President Nixon did not attend the swearing-in of President Ford. Before that, unless you count those that died in office, e.g., Presidents Kennedy, Roosevelt, Harding, McKinley, and Garfield, you have to go back to President Andrew Johnson skipping the inauguration of President Ulysses S. Grant in 1869. Out of respect for the office and to uphold an example of decency, President Trump should attend. Just my 0.02 cents. After President Carter lost and he carried the burden of Americans held hostage in Iran along with the burden of a terrible economy that had divided our country, he attended the inauguration of President Reagan. When President George H.W. Bush lost, he attended the inauguration of President Clinton. Even after Bush v. Gore and hanging chads, President Clinton attended the inauguration of President George W. Bush. President George W. Bush attended the swearing-in of President Obama and President Obama attended the inauguration of President Trump. Even with many differences, those men did the decent thing and showed the world that Americans overcame divisions and peacefully transitioned power. That we were still united through thick and thin. Again, out of respect for the office, I think President Trump should reconsider. What do you think? In two different books, I read where Presidents Bush #41 and #43 left letters in the Oval Office welcoming Presidents Clinton and Obama and giving them words of encouragement and healing. Those types of gestures to heal the divisions within the United States now seem long gone. I hope we can return to the days where our days of unity outnumber our days of division. I'm guessing a few responses will be: (1) the election was stolen, no need to attend; (2) attendance is not required under the Constitution; and, (3) Too little, too late...Pelosi started this mess...where were the olive branches of peace and unity when President Trump held the keys to the White House? Perhaps not...maybe I'll be surprised. Let's hear it. Thanks. Peace.

Austin Westlake 24 Galena Park North Shore 21/FINAL

Todd Dodge is an excellent HS football coach. Nice to have a talented JR QB in Klubnik, a stingy defense, and two big turnovers by NS. Signed, Captain Obvious. -
Tip of the cap to the Crosby defense. Branch, Dunn, and the Crosby offense get a lot of credit, and deservedly so, but the Cougar defense is playing outstanding football. Active DL that plays in the backfield, fast LBs, and some ball hawks in the DBs. A very good tackling squad. I like their chances to win it all. This PN-G Indian is pulling for you. Go Indians...Go Cougars! Peace.

Legendary PN-G Coach Doug Ethridge Passes Away
1989NDN replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
The greatest Chief to ever lead the PN-G Indians. The Ethridge family is one of the strongest pillars upholding the core values of PN-GISD - Honor, Pride, and Tradition. Prayers to the Ethridge family and to all of the PN-G Indians mourning Coach Ethridge. Go Indians! Peace. -
The weather will not matter. Give the ball to #10, run to the right side, and get out of the way. If you are worried about a fumbled exchange, just snap the ball directly to #10. Run the ball and play good defense. Move on to the next round. Go Indians. Peace.

IMO Texas will be blue by 2028, if not 2024. Harris, Bexar, Travis, El Paso, Dallas, and Tarrant counties are blue. All of them are solid blue with the exception of Tarrant County. The RGV is blue. The Coastal Bend is blue. It is a matter of when, not if Texas turns blue.

Fort Bend Hightower 41 Port Arthur Memorial 34/FINAL

Good season PAM. All of the people hammering the Titan D and coaches, take a break. It is a game played by 15-18 year old kids. Go Indians. Peace. -
The early seventies were hard times for Vidor, but during the mid- and late-seventies and continuing into the mid-eighties, Vidor had strong teams. The problem was only one team went to the playoffs and Vidor was in a district with PN-G, Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson, Beaumont French, and Beaumont West Brook. All of those teams won a state championship or made the state finals during 1975-1985. SE TX had its fair share of champions back then. Vidor made a run in 1978 under HC Philip Brown. They won the DC and played a good Aldine team in the Astrodome that was probably twice their size in enrollment. People in Vidor must have forgotten the strong Pirate teams coached by Ronnie Thompson (1975 and 1977) and Philip Brown (1978-1983). Under Ronnie Thompson, the Pirates threw the ball all over the yard when most teams were running 3-yards and a cloud of dust. And, he had a bag of trick plays for every game. Add to that some strong defenses, and the Pirates won some games. Under Philip Brown, the Pirates loaded up on the line of scrimmage and hit people in the mouth. They had big OL kids and usually a big RB to pound people into submission. That's what they did in 1978. All of that to say, Coach Matthews would be third in my pecking order. He's had some good teams. He uses his personnel and finds a way to max out wins. He runs a clean program and high school coaches from Orange to El Paso love the guy. If he ever left Vidor, he could have another job within hours. Several HC would hire the guy just to have him on their staff. He is a known commodity and a well-liked man. Go Indians. Peace.

Can we borrow the RB #10 and perhaps two or three from the defense? Promise to give them back. Go Indians. Peace.

I'll take that bet. Blind squirrels do find nuts. The Indians will fall ass backwards into at least two or three first downs. They may get one or two first downs due to penalties. The Purple Pride band will fire-up Cherokee for that. The defense does not make many stops, but FBM will fumble, throw an INT, or the ball will bounce our way at least once during the game. That's another Cherokee moment. The band kids may need to stretch in the 3rd and 4th Q. Well, if you have to stand and stretch, that's a Cherokee moment. Someone in the student section or a giddy band parent will yell out that PN-G beat Nederland this season. Well, that's another Cherokee moment. The band director will sit through the game thinking about his pay check and then, poof, he will suddenly remember that he gets paid to play Cherokee. So, there's another opportunity to fire up the song. Pho Rizzle, you should change your prediction. The score may be 70-24 in favor of the Buffs, but PN-G will fire-up Cherokee at least 20-25 times. It's in the DNA. Honor, Pride and Tradition...long live Cherokee. Go Indians. Peace.
-
Nice win Nederland. Offense puts butts in the seats and defense wins championship. The bulldogs are hitting their stride at the right time. Regroup Crosby and get back on track. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs. Go Indians. Peace.
-
I agree...control the ball, burn the clock, and slow the game to a crawl. The Indians will need a lot of breaks, some luck, and an error-free game. If not, FBM may score 70 in the first half alone. Bad match-up for the Indians. Here's to PN-G pulling off a shocker. Go Indians. Peace.

I tried to post a portion of Judge Brann's Memorandum Opinion. Apparently, I was not successful. Sorry about that snafu. The Memorandum Opinion and appellate opinion from the Third Circuit are not hard to find. I bet the savvy regular posters on this message board can find them. I'm not savvy enough to post the document. I'll have to get my kids to help me. They're iPad gurus and computer experts. Ol' Dad is still reading hardcover/paperback books and using paper and pencil to write. Peace.

I did not read through the six pages of posts on this topic, but did anyone ready the Memorandum Opinion written by U.S. District Court Judge Matthew Brann? It was upheld by a three judge panel on the Third Circuit. Did anyone read the appellate opinion? The Trump legal team made allegations, but had no evidence in support of those allegations. Judge Brann wrote: I am guessing that the Trump supporters will argue that Judge Brann is an Obama appointee and, therefore, he should not be trusted. Yet, Judge Brann was recommended by both a Democrat and Republican senator in PA and his confirmation from the full Senate was unanimous. I have not read that he has a history of being an activist judge or creating law and policy from the bench. If the links that Reagan posts on this message board have evidence of fraud and violations of equal protection, then send those links to the Trump legal team. They need them. They keep going to court without evidence. If a Biden administration goes too far left, there will be an election in 2024 and the American public will have an opportunity to make changes in the House and Senate, and at the White House. With mid-term elections coming fast in 2022, changes could be made sooner in the House and Senate. Changing the Rs and Ds in Congress will do more than worrying about which party has the keys to the White House. Change happens, but for approx. 244 years, America has not drifted too far right or too far left. The extremists, yes. The majority, no. Things will settle somewhere near the middle. Peace.

No disagreement from this PN-G alum. I vote for the all purple home uniforms with a white helmet and the all white stormtrooper uniforms for road games. Zig-zags on the sleeves of both jerseys and on the road pants. I like the current helmet decal, but it is PN-G, not PNG. No gray pants or helmets for me. If you want an alternative look, go with the white jersey/purple pants or the purple jersey/white pants. Skip the gray. Outsiders laugh, call us a cult, and mock PN-G for its Honor, Pride, and Tradition, but those core values meant something for the past 100 years and they still mean something to this alum today. In my opinion, ECBucFan is correct: There is a tradition of purple and white and it matters (at least to me it does). Go Indians. Peace.

BH Blue v. PN-G is that the freshmen "A" teams and the BH White v. PN-G is that what we called the "B" teams 30 and 40 years ago? Thanks. Go Indians. Peace.

Ned #10 is an outstanding RB. Vision, tough runner, quickness, and speed. He is not going down on first contact or with arm tackles. When Ned loaded up and ran on the right side, good things happened. Ned has some meat on the OL and they can move the line of scrimmage. When #10 cuts it back, he can take it to the house in a hurry. PN-G got a TO and had a shot at the end for the W. As usual, the last team with the ball wins. Great HS football game. It could have gone either way. Not sure why anyone would be down on PN-G or Ned. We both have issues, but who doesn't? The PN-G defense is not the best, but our kids are coachable and playing hard. I'll take it. Ned can correct some things and move on to the next game. I feel like other teams need to worry about PN-G and Ned. The Indians and Dogs will have opportunities to grab a W in each and every game, Barbers Hill and Crosby included. In each game, if things break right, if some variables go our way, then PN-G will have its shot to get a W...same for Ned. No reason for either team to hang its head or throw in the towel. Lots of football left in district. 15 - 18 year old kids make mistakes. It happens. Get up and go play. Go Indians. Peace.
-
Great HS football game by both teams. As usual, it came down to a handful of plays. Can't say enough great things about Blake Bost slinging the ball around the yard and leading his team to overcome a 14-0 deficit. PN-G outscoring Ned 22-7 is not because of the referees. The PN-G TE made the catch of a lifetime. Good job. Congrats to all of the kids for playing your ass off and giving the fans a great game. Tip of the cap to Ned, nice field and terrific RB #10. Glad PN-G grabbed a TO and made some plays to get a W. Now, fist bump to the Ned fans, back to social distancing, and see you next year. Go Indians. Peace.

Tip of the cap...good parenting is the foundation for children having an opportunity in life, e.g., having a shot at a college education. Regardless of color or economics, our society needs more of that...good parenting. Your parents and you made that effort and provided the foundation. Well done. Go Indians! Peace.

Louis Farrakhan ring a bell? That clown preaches hate and racism. He preaches black superiority over whites and everyone else. 99.99% of African-Americans do not agree with Farrakhan. He is an extremist. Educated people of all races and ethnicities can see through the extremists regardless of color. Racism exists from all sides...white, black, and brown. As a society, we have made some progress, but we have a long ways to go. Everyone do your own small part for fairness and equality and we will get there. Help one another and stop tearing each other down. Go Indians. Peace.

Joseph and Mary did not seek asylum in Bethlehem. They went to Bethlehem per a decree of Caesar Augustus. They had to travel to Bethlehem and register for a census. Perhaps your question is why did Joseph, Mary, and Jesus flee to Egypt after the birth of Jesus? According to the Bible, an angel appeared to Joseph and told him to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to escape orders from Herod to kill all of the male infants in Judea. I have no idea if Joseph, Mary, and Jesus entered Egypt legally, illegally, or if it mattered. I do not know if Egypt had border protections or policies to secure its borders. I do know that Joseph, Mary, and Jesus left Egypt and returned to Judea (Nazareth) after Herod died. Will all of the undocumented visitors to the USA be leaving anytime soon? Just asking for a friend. Regarding the immigration issues facing the USA, I lean toward finding a path to citizenship for those that are here and enforcing border policies going forward. We cannot be a society with open borders. Too many variables regarding national security, economic stability, and sustaining the many different cultures that are vibrant in the USA. I am not an advocate for dividing families or putting mothers and babies in jail. Let's find a common sense way for creating a path to citizenship for those that are here, and then enforcing our borders in a sensible, lawful, and peaceable manner. Taking out the Iranian commando terrorist was a good thing. Iran understands one thing - force. Peace.
