WOS Best Bet To Represent 3A In State
Depends. Taylor is the largest school in 18-3A. If they make the playoffs then Navasota will go D2.
My understanding this is a very likely scenario. Most expect Taylor to make playoffs therefore sending Navasota to DII.
I would think that Taylor makes the playoffs as well. -

20-14 Newton at half. OF fumbles on Newon 10 with under a minute before the half. OF really needed a score right there. -

Orangefield at Silsbee Game Thread/Orangefield wins 3-1!
Cat22 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good win ladies! Keep it up! -
I was proud of the Bobcats for not giving up. They showed alot of heart in the 2nd half. Proud of the guys that stepped up in the absence of Orangefields starting RB. Couple of early turnovers really hurt the Bobcats. Kiddos to EC for capitalizing on those turnovers. EC has a really good team and Roberts is the real deal. Best of luck to the Bucs the rest of the season.

ORANGE COUNTY FOOTBALL FANS REJOICE!
For away games that KOGT does such as playoffs you can stop by station and for 8 or 10 bucks you can get a transmitter to hear games on if your in the stadium. I like to listen to Gary rather than the stadium announcer during playoffs.
I have one of those and always use it when I'm at a game KOGT is broadcasting. Also if you have a smart phone, download the tune-in app and you can pickup KOGT and alot of stations in the area. -

ORANGE COUNTY FOOTBALL FANS REJOICE!

The whole point of my comment is not who is the best football team in Orange County. The point is that the Mexican radio broadcast from Orange doesn't include Vidor as part of Orange County. Vidor is the largest school in the OC yet here we go being dissed again by the local media. I equate them with the Beaumont Rag as far as their ability to report anything sports related. Considering our fans loyalty, I believe they would get more listeners from Vidor than the other schools COMBINED. I'll stick to the Vidorian and PA News.....
Well, there are a couple of definite reasons that KOGT does not broadcast Vidor games and another possible reason. First, no entity, not KOGT, not SETXsports, not Legacy Sports Network, not any other broadcast entity will be allowed to broadcst Vidor ballgames because it is my understanding that Vidor ISD is in the second year of an exclusive contract with some UHF station that operates out of Vidor that broadcasts the game tape delay or sells CD's of the game. Second, as has been previously noted, KOGT's signal does not reach Vidor at night. Heck it barely makes it to McLewis at night. Why in the world would Gary conduct a broadcast for a high school that if someone turned the radio on at the high school they couldn't get the game!? That makes no sense. And finally, I can tell you frrom first hand experience that sponsorship from Vidor for Vidor broadcasts has been a problem. In fact, the last year that SETXsports broadcasted Vidor in the regular season, we were able to get one person to sponsor Vidor broadcasts (and that was with a very high placed member of the Vidor ISD school board assisting us). Further, when we were able to gain the rights to the Vidor playoff broadcasts (after first being told "no" by the Vidor ISD superintendent), we attempted on this board and in other internet places to gain sponsorship on Vidor broadcasts. Despite the fact that I KNOW that there are Vidor business owners or Vidor residents who own businesses in Vidor, THERE WAS NOT ONE ENTITY OR PERSON WHO STEPPED UP TO SPONSOR THE BROADCASTS. Now, as you know, we did them anyway, and for one of those games had to fight pretty doggone with the venue to be able to do it. But we enjoyed doing the playoff games and we were willing to eat the costs involved. However, KOGT is not Gary Stelly's hobby like it is for many here....it is how he feeds his family and how he pays his bills, which include paying at least 12 folks who work at KOGT to support their families. When he undertakes something like this, sponsorship is a must and if he has encountered the same reception we have in that regard, I know why he doesn't do Vidor broadcasts. It is not like he disses Vidor. He had article after article about last year's Pirates, from the untimely passing of Matt Thomas to the run through the playoffs. In fact, one of the biggest articles he has published on KOGT.com during this preseason was about Coach Mathews. Someone owes this man an apology.
Thanks for this WOSgrad! Gary Stelly does more for Orange County than 99% of the residence who live in the county. -

Perhaps we should start our own republic.
Based on the "score" of that little scrimmage? OK...whatever you say. 8) Grad, nice work on adding KOGT.
The orange leader and KOGT a JOKE!!! WOS and vidor are the only teams in orange county that have even been relavent in the past 10 years but vidor still gets no revognition. Based off the "score" of the scrimmages from the past 3 years I would say vidor is better than WOS
How many playoff appearances does Vidor have over the past 10 years? -
Best Multi Sport Star from your High School
Not sure about PNG, but I have one I played against in HS that is a no doubter from his school: Jeff Granger - Orangefield class of '90. QB on FB team and at A&M...400 Meter State finalist...All State Baseball and played baseball at A&M and on team USA and for the Pitsburgh Pirates. Also a guy from SFA right before me that was a great two sport star was Allen Griggie. 1000+ yard RB on some great teams and could hit a baseball a mile! Graylon Johnson was also a beast on the gridiron and on the basketball court at SFA.
More on Jeff Granger: Football: In his senior season at OF (1989 football season) he was all state QB and ranked as the 2nd overall QB in Texas. Was the starting QB for the South in the annual all star game and threw a TD on the South's first play from scrimmage. At A&M he came off the bench in 91 when Bucky Richardson got hurt and threw 4 td passed against Tulsa. In 92 led the team to a 4-0 start and top 5 ranking. He recieved a concussion later that season and decided to give up football knowing that baseball was his meal ticket. Baseball: Was an all-american his senior season (1990) and led OF to the state tournament. Most people remember him as a pitcher but he also holds the state record for consecutive games with a hit at 42 and at that time was one game short of tying the national record. At A&M had 251 career strikeouts in 220 innings breaking Roger Clemens SWC career strikeout record. Drafted 5th overall by the Royals in 1993. Played mostly in the minors with a small stint in the big leagues. His professional career never really panned out due mostly to nagging injuries. Also in his senior year at OF placed 3rd at the state track meet in the 400M. He may not be the best baseball or football player or track athlete to come from this area, but as an overall athlete, he is definitely one of the best to come from Southeast Texas. -
Pretty much rule out Jefferson and Harris. Too many teams. Chambers: BH, Anahuac, EC Liberty: Liberty, Dayton, Cleveland, Hardin, Hull Daisetta Hardin: Lumberton, Silsbee, Kountze, H-J Orange: BC, WOS, Vidor, LCM Jasper: Buna, Kirbyville, Jasper, Evadale Newton: Newton, Deveyville, Burkeville Tyler: Warren, Woodville, Colmesneil So thats the mental Mapquest in my head. Could very well have omissions and/or errors. Please correct! Apologies for whatever I missed.
Orangefield is in Orange county as well. In the early 2000s I know that OF, BC, WOS and LCM all made the playoffs in the same season, just don't remember the exact year. Don't know if there has ever been a year when all 5 OC schools made the playoffs.

Big win for Coach Adams and the Lady Bobcats! -
Story of this scrimmage was Vidor's defensive front 7 dominated. Overall Vidor was as good or better than advertised. Should be another special season for the Pirates. Liberty looked ok. They have some good size and speed. They will compete for a playoff spot. Orangefield has some work to do but they will be ok. I think two years ago we scrimmaged Vidor and did not get a first down but ended up 7-3 on the season. I look forward to seeing improvement next week. Good luck to the Pirates this season. I'll be pulling for you guys every week. See ya next week Liberty.
