Cat22 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The ladies played a good overall TEAM game. Can't say enough about Brittney Williams. She impresses me each time I see her play. She's gonna have fun Saturday when her twin comes to town. Get out there Saturday and support these ladies. Crowds seem to get bigger each game. Lets continue that trend!! -

Lady Bobcats pressure wilts Kirbyville Van Wade The Orange Leader ORANGEFIELD — It was business as usual for the Orangefield Lady Bobcats in District 21-3A action Tuesday night at Bobcat Gym. They made sure of it, utilizing a suffocating press to force the Kirbyville Lady Wildcats into 37 turnovers as the 13th-ranked Lady Bobcats stayed perfect in 21-3A play by waltzing to a 73-31 victory. Senior Kaylin Little celebrated her birthday in style with another torrid shooting night, scoring 23 points, swiping seven steals and grabbing five rebounds. Little had plenty of help, especially from six-foot post Allie Beach, whose stock continues to go up with her outstanding play of late. Beach, who scored 29 points in the Orangefield (19-9, 10-00 victory over Silsbee last week, torched the Lady Wildcats (8-7, 5-5) for a nice double-double, tallying 23 points and snagging 10 rebounds. “We wanted to come out early and make a statement with our press,†said Orangefield coach Chris Jost. “We thought we could dictate the tempo early on with the press. Even when we backed down from it in the second half, I thought the kids continued to play excellent defense.†After struggling in their half-court offense in the first 2:30 of the game, the Lady Bobcat full-court press began chipping away at the Lady Wildcats. Orangefield went on to force 10 turnovers in the period and grabbed a comfortable 17-6 cushion at the end of the first period. Little and Beach combined for 14 first-quarter points, scoring seven apiece. Things got much worse for Kirbyville in the second period with the Lady Bobcats forcing a whopping 11 turnovers in eight minutes. Little broke loose for eight points in the quarter. Beach popped for six and Olivia Wagner, who had eight points, scored four as they helped spark a 20-6 run in the quarter as the Lady Bobcats cruised into the locker room with a 37-11 advantage. Orangefield went on an 18-8 surge in the third period, forcing nine more Lady Wildcat turnovers in the process. Orangefield went on an 18-12 tear in the final eight minutes as Beach had the hot hand with eight points in the fourth quarter. “Allie has become quite a workhorse for us underneath,†Jost said. “She’s getting such great position down low and has shown a lot of power going up for good shots and getting big rebounds. She just keeps getting better and better each week.†Abril Wright and Tynisha Adams paced the Lady Wildcats with eight points apiece. Elissa Tieman and Keila Brown led Kirbyville with eight rebounds apiece. Orangefield’s Laura Riddick fought off a wrist injury pretty well to score six points and dished off seven assists. Point guard Jessica Weldon contributed six points and six rebounds while Aimee Scales came off the bench to tally six points. The Lady Bobcats finished with a slight 29-28 rebounding edge while Orangefield had just 14 turnovers. The only pitfall for Coach Jost’s crew on this night came from the free-throw line, where they went just 9-of-23. “That’s a little mind-boggling to me, because we shoot over 65 percent from the line,†Jost said. “That’s something we’ll be concentrating on at the next practice.†The Lady Bobcats return to 21-3A action Friday when they welcome Orange County rival Bridge City to Bobcat Gym. -

Once again, great job Gabe. Thanks for everything you do, not only for Orangefield, but all the other schools you cover. We are really blessed to have a local newspaper that cares about girls athletics like you guys do. You guys are like no other. Thanks for the hard work and late nights you guys put in. Now, how about wearing that SPURS shirt to a few more games!!!

Apologies to the Silsbee Coach, Assistants, and Fans
Cat22 replied to Cat22's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Coach K, those of us from Orangefield that do have common sense do have the upmost respect for you, your staff, and your team. I have really enjoyed watching Silsbee since you took over the program. You run a class team and your players are class acts also and are very respectful. I always pull for Silsbee, except ofcourse when they are playing my Lady Bobcats. Last night was a great atmosphere for girls basketball. That's the way it should be, with the exception of the three stooges!! Best of luck to you coach the remainder of the season. It would be great if we were to meet again. I'm pulling for you and the Lady Tigers!! -
Lamar Lady Cardinals vs. SFA This Thursday

I plan on being there!! -
I don't know the details of what happened in the fourth quarter, but apparently some derogatory comments were made to the Silsbee bench. Every village has an idiot and if it's who I think it was, this person is our idiot. This is not the first time this has happened with this person, but I sure hope it's the last. Hopefully our administration will ban this person from future Orangefield sporting events. Please Coach do not lump all of Orangefield in the same category with our idiot. I know this apology means nothing to you and your assistants, but I for one do apologize for what took place. Coach you are a class act and I wish you and your staff nothing but continued success the rest of the season. Coach if there is anything I can do for you, send me a PM on this site and I will give you my contact information. Sorry for what transpired and good luck the rest of the way.
