  1. Hey everyone, what is the average age of your coaching staff? Just curious to see if some of the successful programs in this area have older staffs than those that aren't.
  2. Lets stick to the topic of this thread!
  3. Lady Cards sweep past Lady Cats Gabriel Pruett The Orange Leader ORANGEFIELD — Fortunately for the Orangefield Lady Bobcats it is still early in District 21-3A play. Unfortunately for the Lady Bobcats they ran into a red-hot Bridge City Lady Cardinals team still undefeated in the district standings. Bridge City (13-11, 6-0) were relentless at Bobcat Gym and won the match 25-10, 25-12 and 25-18. With the loss Orangefield drops to 10-13 overall and 3-3 in the district loop. The Lady Bobcats were hanging around in Game 3 and had pulled momentum their way when Allie Beach came up with a block on Bridge City Audrey Myers to make the score 24-18. Unfortunately again for Orangefield, Bridge City’s Emily Kosh set Myers up the next play and Myers’ shot found the court for her 13th save of the night, which led all hitters. The road was tough sledding for Orangefield in the first two games as Bridge City continued its stellar first-half district play. Kayla Fullerton, who had six kills for the Lady Cardinals, took serve with Bridge City up 5-2 and left with the Lady Cardinals up 10-2. The run included two aces from Fullerton. In all Bridge City had 16 aces. While Bridge City’s offense was rolling, its defense was also on point as senior Jenna Angelle had 16 digs. “This feels great,†Jenna Angelle said. “It is undescribable to come in to Orangefield and win in three games.†Lauren Angelle pumped in six kills for the Lady Cardinals while Myers added nine assists and six aces. Sophomore Emily Kosh had a match-high 17 assists. Orangefield as led by Jessica Maass who finished with four kills and Aimee Scales and Laura Riddick who each had three. Senior Kaylin “KK†Little had a team-high five assists. “We had so many mental errors tonight,†Orangefield Coach Linda Riddick said. “Tonight we played unlike we have played all year. I knew we would have some growing pains but I did not expect all of them to show up tonight.†Bridge City was able to take advantage of 11 Orangefield errors in the first game to win 25-10. Kosh got the Lady Cardinals going in the second game with the game tied at one. Kosh went on a tear with 10 straight service points which included two aces. The Lady Cardinals put the second game on ice as Fullerton hit for four straight service points to end it as the last three Lady Bobcat shots found the net. Bridge City won the second game 25-12. Orangefield did hang around in the third and could never grab a lead. Lauren Angelle got the Lady Cardinals off to a good start with three straight service points. With Bridge City up 8-6, Myers came to serve and gave the Lady Cardinals a little breathing room with five straight service points, including three consecutive aces making it 13-6. Kosh later on all but put the match with five straight points making it 23-13 before Orangefield made a run. The margin was too large even after Beach’s block. “I know Orangefield is a lot better than they played tonight,†Bridge City Coach Becca Mathews said. “I wanted to see the same intensity all night and we kind of let up in the third. I am still very, very proud of them. We only have one more to go to stay undefeated in the first half of district.†Jenna Angelle knows the Lady Cardinals are ready for the next challenge. “I am very happy about this team,†Angelle said. “We work so hard in practice. All we have to do is keep working hard and carrying it over to the matches.†The Lady Bobcats return to action Friday when they travel to Silsbee. Bridge City will hit the road to face Hardin-Jefferson on Friday.
  4. Good News, this is an email from Gary's dad. "Up date! BJ got released yesterady! Goes back for check ups and treatment!! Gary is doing better and moving to a step down room.. He drinking juice and eatiing pudding! He looks real good and he keeps getting better!"
  5. Gary is off the ventilator and so far so good. BJ is up and walking. Both still have a very long way to go. Keep them in your prayers. Fundraisers are in the works, I'll let everyone know when I find out for sure.
  6. There may be a fundraiser soon to help out the families. I'll let everyone know when one is planned.
  7. Here is an link to an article on this subject. Both seem to be somewhat improving. Updates are being posted on the Orangefield messageboard. [Hidden Content]
  8. lol, thats funny, made me chuckle!! Did Kelly have some move ins or something?
  9. Those are good picks. Orangefield is a question mark. We only return two starters and only have a few girls with any varsity experience, not to mention a new coach. They may struggle early, but should be ok once district starts.
  10. Congrats Bobcat55 to your Courgars. They really put it on us last night. This is one of the best Buna teams I have seen in a long time. Good Luck to you the rest of the season. I'll be pulling for you guys.
  11. I'm telling you with Tidwell and Ancelot this team will be very good. They will compete for the conference championship every year.
  12. The game tonight features one of the best running backs in the country from Cy-Fair and one of the best QB's in the country from Stratford.
  13. She'll be fun to watch this year. Good luck to her!
  14. This will be a close game. Orangefield had to eliminate the turnovers. We had a problem with that in our last scrimmage. Not making excuses, but our starting QB was injuired early on in the scrimmage Friday night and did not play the rest of the scrimmage. I think he is ok, but he will not be 100%. Our other QB did step in nicely though. I think this game will come down to turnovers and mistakes, whoever has fewer will win the game.
  15. Ofcourse, we'll be tailgating on the OF side behind the home bleachers.
  16. They very well could, we'll see!
  17. Nice tribute to Coach Peveto. He had a huge impact at Orangefield also. He gratuated from Orangefield in the 50's and coached in the 80's. There is currently a scholarship in is name given each year to a male and female athlete in Orangefield. It is put on mostly by his former players and his sons. Ask anyone of his former players and they will tell you that they would have run through a brick wall for that guy. Great motivator. His son Bradley is coaching at LSU and Orangefield just recently hired his grandson to coach.
  18. I thought the girls looked good for it being the first game. I think they might surprise some teams in this district. They hustle to every ball and played tonight as a team. Congrats to Coach Riddick and her staff. Good Job!! Good seeing you tonight Gabe. I've got that Spurs shirts ready!! ;D
  19. Good luck to the Cougars as well!!
  20. Here are the times for the Orangefield/Coldspring scrimmage. Freshman 9 JV 10 Varsity 11
  21. Orangefield has a good group of Seniors this season, but does have some question marks in some areas. Hopefully those will be worked out during the scrimmages. We'll have some young guys that need to step up quickly. Our coaching staff will have them ready to play come week zero. I'm glad to see these two teams playing each other again. Hopefully we can continue this for along time to come. Buna was always our biggest rival when I was in school, so it's always good to get a win against them! ;D This will be a close game this year. Good Luck to both!!
  22. That was Orangefield that beat Kountze 99-0!
  23. Congrats Katie! I look forward to watching you play this season.
  24. Well considering we may throw the ball five times all season, I think Helton is a great fit for the option. He's not as big as Ramsey, but is faster. He'll do fine.
