By the way I am "Old School" pretty much tells you the post that makes me want to puke. Some of these post sounds like they were wrote by woman or Liberals. ;D ;D
:o 8)
 2.
I'll offer my perspective from the various "hats" I have worn in life... As a parent, I have let my children be individuals, not carbon copies of me (thank God!  Iwas 125 lbs., soaking wet, in high school as a senior...combined with Coke bottle glasses and buck teeth, that made for an interesting picture.)  My oldest, now an accountant, played high school football from 8th grade to 10th grade.  HE decided that he could make a greater contribution to the team by being off of it and letting someone with more ability, but a lower grade classification, take the spot he was occupying.  My contribution while he played was to be the loudest supporter for the "D" line, to the point where I gave his coaches a chuckle on game films. My middle son lettered in baseball his junior and senior year.  Every season began with the same question..."you still wanna play?"  My daughter is not interested in sports.  As a coach (volunteer Pop Warner and Little League) I have had the opportunity to coach great little guys that became fine young men.  A couple of the ones I coached are in D-1 schools, one is at Lamar University, and one is in the NFL.  None of them are there because I coached them.  They are there because you had a wonderful combination of parents who worked in conjunction with the coaches, from little kid to high school.  Parents that KNEW the coaches job was to coach, and their job was to parent.  Parents who led by example.  Coaches are there to win the games (and occasionally, teach history).  They can have the most knowledgeable history students, but the school faithful demand wins.  They do scream...they don't have the luxury of a Britney Spears flesh toned microphone that can make them heard over the LOUDNESS of a typical game.  They have to yell instructions to kids who are thinking about the date after the game with that hot cheerleader (or a reasonable approximation thereof).  No wins?  Coaches get fired...No wins and lousy ADs?  Coaches get fired faster...Coaches are handed a bunch of kids, and each skills group is handled by an assistant.  With a large group of kids, there is no time to be "individual"..a coaching style will be a coaching style.  As a parent you have to accept the loudness and the brusqueness of a coach...physical assault?  Okay, no, but being loud and obnoxious?  In my third hat, as a clergyman who works with youth, I get to see the kids.  Not all of them are angels, but by and large, they are good kids.  I can tell though, when kids have "freinds" instead of parents.  These kids have no limits.  I can also tell when kids feel they are being used to relive "dad's glory days".  The package is sold as a "benefit" for the kid, but they realize they are being used.  The hardest part of this is when the kid graduates, because their worth is no longer evident to glory day parents. Pretty much, parents can't rely on coaches to be their kid's "buddy".  They are there to coach a team, not build lasting freindships into the future.  And parents, if you want to see the face of "ugly parenting"...turn on ESPN anytime Craig James is on...
GREAT GREAT POST!!!!!

Why dont you come over and play you in a game of scramble. Darts, pool or horeshoes? 8)
8) How about some washers or maybe foosball. Will play you in any of the above.  Good post. ;D ;D
No we are talking........let's get a foosball tourney going......... 8) 8) 8)
 4.
True story from long ago---- Little Johnny was a lineman that didn't want to be a lineman. Realized he couldn't be quarterback, running back, or wide reciever so decided to become a kicker. Little Johnny worked hard to become a good kicker. He even went to a summer long kicking school coached by his daddy. Johnny thought he was a great kicker. Daddy thought he was a great kicker. Mommy thought he was a great kicker. Coach disagreed and let another kid kick. Mommy and Daddy and their buddies in town decided to get coach fired because he was a bad coach and didn't understand kids. The school board was stupid and granted mommy and daddy and their buddies wish. It was a long time before this once proud and always competitive team was any good again. Mommy and Daddy not only punished a good coach for his "mistreatment" of their baby boy. They ruined a generation of football. There are certainly bad coaches (and bad coaches should be replaced-- most DO NOT have long term contracts), but there are a lot more parents that don't know as much about[u]"pick your sport"[u] as they think they do and are vicariously reliving their glory days (if they had them) or living their glory days (if they didn't have them) through their kids who have been taught that the world revolves around them and everything bad that happens to them is someone elses fault.
Thats the first little Johnny story I have heard that did not have curse words and a punch line  ;D
 5.
Wow, there is no way to win on threads like these.  Every time I see one come up I go  ::).  Look people,  we should not put any coach that high on a horse because there are some terrible ones out there.  Just like in any profession,  you have some that now what they are doing and some that dont have a clue.  If you dont like the coach that much either try and talk to him (and not put it up in a forum) or just dont have your kid play.  On the other side there are some good parents and some terrible ones.  Just watch the news.  Lots of parents I hear in the stands that are complaining dont know what they are complaining about and some do.   Either way there is no way to win in this kind of arguement.
Your correct.........as a parent you must have an open mind and have at least an ounce of communication skills. I hear a lot of parents complain, but when asked what they have done, the answer is usually nothing!
 6.

Goodness I sure would hate to teach or coach a kid magnus had. It takes alot more to be a coach then most people realize and your payed poorly to do it. Then u listen to people who have no clue about whats going on tell you what your doing wrong. If your kid cant handle someone getting after them when they mess up then they dont have to play and coaches dont want you around. Ive been at a successful, well run program and there are plenty of buttchewings to go around and parents opinions were not welcome. Parents dont watch film so they dont get to coach
I WATCH ALL THE FILMS BECAUSE I FILM EVERY GAME.. AND I'M ON THE SIDELINE EVERY GAME AND AT PRATICE EVERY PRATICE!!!! SO I THINK I KNOW FIRST HAND THE DIFFERNT TYPES OF COACHES THERE ARE AND WHAT TYPES WORK WITH DIFFERENT KIDS. I HAVE SEEN WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOES NOT WORK.. Some schools have some awesome players but refuse to play due to the coaches..
Do you ignore the rules in football to? ;) ;) 6) NO SHOUTING!!- (Use of "Caps Lock") The standard practice on most message boards, forums, emails, web pages, etc. is that the use of all caps is regarded as SHOUTING!!
 7.
Seriously do you really have to be that bright to a football coach? If coaches dont like what they do get out and come into the real world. Try to raise your voice or threating adult like you do a kid. Just like many coaches here were defending the coaches that went astray last year from Morton Ranch and Cleveland. Really?
Did you really post that? Let's see.....John Madden, Don Shula, Tom Landry, Vince Lombardi, etc........ I sure would not mind being in that list of dummies ::)

 11.

I think it's one thing for a kid to move because the coach has "recruited" him and another thing if he moves for more playing time at a different school.  If he can't cut it at one school and moves to another, more power to him.  A lot of coaches would use that as a good reason for the kids that stayed to "get after" the other school when they play each other.  That being said, why would a coach want to keep a kid that he knows doesn't want to play for him?
Being recruited or moving just to get more playing time are both terrible reasons for a kid to change schools. If the kid isn't getting enough playing time I see only 4 reasons for that. First of all, it could be (and this would be the most likely IMO) that the kid just isn't that good a player. Secondly, if he's not getting playing time and he's actually good, he probably has a major attitude problem that the coach feels warrants keeping his butt on the sidelines. Third, maybe the kid just can't cut it with the schools curriculum, which means he ought to ask the counselor for some help getting a tutor because moving to a school with easier curriculum is the lazy way out. Finally, and this would be the only reason I could see as justifiable to move, there could be an outside chance that he and the coach just can't figure a way to get along. Unfortunately in life there are rare instances when two personalities just can't resolve their differences but a move would only be justifiable AFTER an attempt to resolve the problem through the schools' administration.
What if he is good, a nice kid but is behind a real good group of players?  What if he can change schools and the talent pool at the new school puts him on top? Now he's first string and playing under the lights......  just a what if!

 13.
A fight song cannot even be considered for being the best when a majority of the people have never heard it.  When you have to put a youtube link up so everyone can get to hear it for the first time cannot equate to being the best fight song.  With that being said, whether you love it or you hate, Cherokee is the most recognizable fight song and is known throughout this area.  And everyone's disdain for Cherokee is what makes it so great.  It creates a passion for those that love it and those that hate it.
I guess because I'm for TJ, I keep hearing this to the tune of Cherokee: Poor little Indian boys Jackets gonna sting them Indian boys ;D  ;D  ;D  :o
 14.
Nothing beats Cherokee. How many other school districts can you go into first grade classrooms and the majority of kids know the high school fight song. I remember learning Cherokee before the National Anthem.
Well, it is pretty simple; Always be faithful...To purple and white...Cheer on with spirit...And our team will fight... Here come the Indians...Down the trails of victory...Winning our conquests for PN-G! (YELL) I-N-D-I-A-N-S scalp 'em Indians scalp 'em!
 15. Lumberton PeeWee last year had a couple scrimages with Kountze and had no issues. The coaches last year were stand up guys.  Best of luck to both of you!

 20.
Dub, I appologize if calling off the dogs hurt your feelings. I am very aware of the rules as they pertain to substitutions. I guess you are the guru of special teams coaches.  Why did LCM onside kick their only kickoff?  It might be because the kids are 7-8 and don't quite have the leg strength to kick it deep.  4 years of mediocrity must be a soul crushing endeavor.    Sorry, spelling isn’t our strong suit in Lumberton, winning football games is. Keep making fun of the LTrain as we will just keep on counting our W's.  Deal with it.
because it wins games ;D
