This is what I find most unusual: Nobody says a word if you put your kid in classes that challenge them academically. But try and put them in an athletic situation (Select-& personally I hate the term "select" ) that challenges them with their peers, and it's a whole new ball game of *strikes and errors* thrown at you  from dissidents. ;)
Dove, as much as I ALWAYS disagree with you in the OTHER forum......that is about as truthful of a comment as they come. I think there is nothing wrong with challenging your kid both mentally and physically........ I honestly don't want my kid to be the best on the team......I always want him challenged and striving to do better.......

 5.

an old shipwreck?
One would think that everybody would know about a shipwreck sitting that close to the surface.
Dunno.....
 6.
All depends on how the league is run and how much community involvement you have.  i can assure you that Bridge City and West End have competitive league games.  The pitchers you see at West End are also pitching at Ford park on the weekends when schedules allow.
Westend, I agree to a point...I know Wend End, BC and Sour Lake are known for their stong LL programs. My city would not make the top 10 I'm sad to say. And my point was not to put down LL, it has it's place, but to comment on what a difference select was as far as coaching and talent......Didn't see anyone playing with the grass in any of the two tourmanents......
 7. an old shipwreck?
 8. When this topic was created, I knew how I felt about the Little League program or Circus (My city), but had not had any experience in select. A couple months ago my son made a select/elite team.  We have played 2 tourneys and I have to say no matter what negatives you hear, it's worth it if you want to teach your son REAL baseball. My son has learned and improved more in these two months, than the 2 years in LL.  If I could do it all over again, he would have been in select from early on. We are still going to play LL this year.....because he wants to play against his friends, not for improving his game. I would recommend this to anyone who wants their kid to learn baseball at a completely different level.  I was amazed at the talent at the two tournaments we have participated in.  Can't wait till February!!

We'll probably meet up that first tourney since we are both signed up for the 2/18. Looking forward to it.
Maybe you guys would like to scrimmage us this month or next month, let me know both our kids can use that to get ready
I ran into a guy from Lumberton in Sulphur that has a select team.  I should see him tonight, I will get his info for you.
 10.
I truly hate that you had such a miserable experience here in Jasper “queenb”.  Yes we did charge $3 gate fee and sell basic concessions, but this was simply to cover the expenses of paying the referees.  The remaining money will all be donated to the Jasper Football Booster club.  The football program was generous enough to let us use their field (which they had to mow and paint for these two games).  I would not have been offended if I were asked to pay a few bucks to come and play at your stadium to cover expenses…if you have ever been involved in coordinating youth sports, you would know, there are WAY more expenses than people realize.  I think it is obvious when you look at our facilities, equipment, and uniforms…we are not running a money making youth football program here in Jasper.  As for the parents, I can assure you that there were unruly parents from BOTH sides.  This, unfortunately, is how some parents act everywhere you go.  I have coached football, baseball, and basketball all over southeast Texas and it is the same everywhere you go…a few loud mouths with filthy language are going to be there and you WILL hear what they have to say, like it or not.  You should know that you cannot observe their behavior as indicative of their town’s character…Heck, my wife had to listen to a small group of WOS parents spew “F” bombs and call the KIDS playing the game a variety of unspeakable things the entire game…but I am smart enough to know that they do not represent all of WOS fans. I cannot speak of the issues you had during the Senior game, but I can tell you as a coach, we had a GREAT time in the Junior game.  The kids really enjoyed playing the WOS Lil’ Mustangs and even though we were very disappointed in losing the game, our kids and the WOS kids shook hands and said “Good Game” afterwards, nothing else.  Just remember…these are KIDS and they just love to PLAY FOOTBALL!  My son even found a few kids he played against in baseball and visited for a while afterwards.  Coach Doobie and his coaches did a great job and I congratulate them on a hard fought victory. I really hope we can continue this game in the future.  It is fun playing another excellent 3A football program and giving all of our kids (Jasper and WOS) the opportunity to compete at a high level.  I hope this can develop into a FUN rivalry over the years …if the parents will just stay out of the way and let the KIDS PLAY FOOTBALL.…these two groups of kids are some GREAT PLAYERS and they will be playing against each other for YEARS to come…
Solid Post Coach!

 19.
the league took the word of the other team. The next day after the game was played and sheet signed off. Evidently the court found evidence they proved their case. This league is being sponsored by a anonymous NFL player. It will not start until summer of 2013. I am just the lawyer on board. Of course you know all that is in detail. I will not speak on this subject again. Good luck to the league. And word of Advise Revise Your bylaws.
;D  Now THATS funny........ You may be, but based on your excuse driven responses.......would never hire you!

I dont have a kid that plays . And second :You expect LoneStar to list everything that will forfeit the game."  Well, why not the STJFL does.  In any sport you have penaltys for not follwing the rule. They are not made up as you go. You jump offside or illegal motion on the offense. Their is a 10yrd penalty. The rule is already set. So yes, they should state. If the rule is broken it will be a forfeit. What the rule states is The head coach will go before the board for discipline NOT the team forfeit a game. So they enforce a rule but not abide by the others.  Get real.  I guess you all like cheating when its beneficial to you.  For some reason i dont think you all are getting the point. The kids were in the game. At the beginnig of the fourth there were a number of kids on both sides that didnt get their plays. Its just amazing all the other teams did. and one needed the whole eight but only 6 plays played in the fourth. Go figure. And its not about the MPRs its following the rules set in place to give discipline to the game. Evidently you all dont know the leagues rules.
HAHAHAHAHA.... so whose rules are you quoting this from?  In every league that I know of, jumping off sides or illegal motion is a five yard penalty.  Too funny. PS Play your kids!!!
Thank you!..... Someone else caught it....... and BTW.........hats off to mwmuck......I would have been done after the FIRST detailed and VERY clear explanation.
 21. Your mad because the league upheld a rule?

It's above my pay grade. Call and ask the league President. We do what our league says to do. I don't really think it matters, but maybe it does to a couple of you. Ya'll making an issue out of nothing. Heck get your kids together and play another community.
