  1. Although, I agree with what your saying about commitment, I don't think this had anything to do with VB coach. Her no comment actually translates to "I cannot speak about this because I'm really pissed and will lose my job for telling my real opinion". ;D ;D You never know who it had to do with. You know something we don't ??? ???

  3. So how do you choose? The football team can have 3 cheerleaders, and the drill team can have 7 less dancers, but the VB team cannot play with 3 people. And to someone elses point, they could play at 4 and be there by 1/2 time if they planned it.
  4. Where's Skipper when you need him. I bet you he knows someone who is a cousin with one of the buss drivers that talked to the sister of the VB coach ;D ;D
  5. AMEN!!! The rest can stand along the football sidelines the rest of the season. Any reporters out there gonna try to get an interview with the VB coach or Hooks......maybe ask some of these common sense questions??
  6. Your correct but how is HOOKS gonna handle this support his VB coach or tell the VB coach to put the girls back on the team. Hooks should have already handled it before it made news. It's pretty simple, you play volleyball this Friday or you don't cheer, drill whatever the rest of the season. I go back to the VB coach...........how can she coach a team she cannot manage??
  7. Ok, you know the volleyball coach is not happy....if she is happy, she needs another job. So, how is she going to coach that team in the future when those girls walked away from a game. Coaches put in lots of time and take lots of crap. If the coach don't take this well above Hooks' head, I would be surprised..... I would be pissssssed!!
  8. Agreed. The 3 that are not on the drill team or cheerleading squad, gets shoved aside for the good of the football team. Oh, we can't have a non-district football game way over in little Brookshire without some of the cheerleaders and drill team members attending. That would be a travesty. : im not saying this situation is right or wrong but how does this benefit the football team? there is a conflict in schedules, which i dont understand how it happened, and the girls who are involved in more than one activity made a choice with their parents backing. i agree they should get the boot, but i dont understand how anyone has made this a football issue. I think it became a football issue when those girls made the choice to attend the football game. To me, a football team can play without cheerleaders and drill team.........BUT, a volleyball team CANNOT play without the players. To me, irresponsible decision and bad parenting by the parents!!
  9. At one of the games this week, the scoreboard and the officials clock was WAYYYY different in the first half. Luckily, the REF's let us know. Thats an issue, but I doubt the league is gonna pay the $$ for a ref to work the clock.
  10. I AGREE. SHE HAD AN ISSUE ABOUT HER KID'S PLAYIN TIME, AND THAT SHOULDA BEEN HANDLED "IN HOUSE". NOT IN FRONT OF ALL THOSE VISITING COACHES AND PARENTS AND KIDS (WHO WERE STILL WAITING TO GO SHAKE HANDS WITH EACH OTHER). BUT IT'S BEHIND US. AS FOR THE FORFEIT, WELL, IT IS WHAT IT IS. WE BROKE A RULE, WE'LL PAY THA PRICE. BUT I'M SURE I SPEAK FOR ALL MY COACHES AND PARENTS WHEN I TELL U 92 THAT WE APPRECIATE THA SUPPORT. NOT JUST FROM OTHER COACHES IN OUR ORGANIZATION, BUT FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE. AND FROM OUR PARENTS...BCUZ THEY APPRECIATE WHAT WE AS VOLUNTEERS ARE DOING WITH THEIR KIDS. THIS PAST SATURDAY WAS JUST A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD...WE'LL BRUSH OUR SHOULDERS OFF AND CONTINUE TO DO WHAT WE DO EVERY SATURDAY: PLAY HARD, PLAY TOGETHER, PLAY WITH CLASS, AND LET THA SILVER HELMETS DO THA TALKIN!! Previs, way to man up, accept responsibility and move on. That's how a coach is supposed to act!! Good luck in your future games...........you have some excellent coaches and players
  11. Parents, are almost something we should train for ;D ;D
  12. And got out played the other 24 Vidor 42 Train 28 I still think Vidor brought in a new team for the second half, those guys played like they hadn't even been on the field yet, I can't remember ever seeing a team come out in the second half like Vidor did against us. I really wouldn't count on it happening twice though, you can bet Coach C AND the guys who were on last years teams, be it in the game or on the sidelines, will be ready for another attempted assault. My thoughts exactly........Vidor was GAME ON in the second half......hopefully we learned something from that!
  13. I thought it was a gentlemans agreement at the beginning of the game. If you keep your own MPR sheet, you could "produce" anything you wanted. If I recall, the few times it was an issue, the opposite team kept the MPR on the other team. Am I wrong here? Unless it has changed since last year, both coaches meet prior to the game, they give an MPR sheet of there players to the opposing team. The coach has an option to sign it waiving his right then returns it to the coach. Thats what you maybe thinking about. But, it is manadatory that the coachi keeps his own even though the opposing team may waive their right. At the end of the game, the coaches meet again and sign each other MPR. If a coach does not have on to sign, it is a forfiet. yup....your right.....I'm an assistant coach and we do have a person that keeps up with it. I'm never involved in the meeting prior.

  15. Just a question here, but how do you make a team "ease up" or better yet, how do you define that? Do you kneel the ball on every offensive play? Do you tell your RB's or QB that, if they see open field, fall down? Being someone who has coached a little, I'm just wondering because there are times that you sub out kids who have never even carried the ball in a game and they even score. Sometimes, it can't be helped. I think it's a bit ridiculous to automatically throw out the "running up the score" card. Sometimes, you just have so much more talent or speed that you either score or risk further embarassment for your opponent by kneeling the ball on first, second or third downs. This happens a lot in the youth leagues where that can be a huge difference in a teams abilities. I'm not trying to stir the pot either, and I also don't have a child in this league, but I do read these pages all of the time and I think some folks are way to quick to throw out that a team "ran up the score". There are rules for a lopsided score Gas, that's the best way to keep it respectable. Noboby expects anybody to kneel, that's a ridiculous comment and you know that. If you want to discuss more, PM me. I will start this by saying that I'm glad everyone has said their piece now and have come to an understanding. After reading everything, it appears some things were taken out of context and some jokes between people were misunderstood. TD and WOS 92 are very good friends of mine and I do get offended when I see accusations made about their team. They have a ton of talent and sometimes you just can't help but score. Now Penny, for you in particular. I realize the kneeling statement was ridiculous, it was intended to be. But, it is no more ridiculous than the incessant accusations of running up the score and even more directly, your insinuation that it is something that the WOS team does on a regular basis. The team we speak of is loaded with talent and speed. They have kids who rarely touch the ball that would start for most teams. Sometimes, it's just going to happen, that doesn't mean the coaches have some sort of malice or are breaking the rules. I assure you that those coaches know, because of the ability of their team and the potential for games to get out of hand, that they are under a microscope and go above and beyond to make sure that all I's are dotted and T's are crossed. That being said Good points Gasilla. The WOS football program is a good one and we need to move on.
  16. this has really blown up. I made the first post about the extra 17 points......speaking very specifically about this one comment. I thought it was a great win, just thought the rubbing in of the extra 17 points was unneccessary. Every time I have played WOS, they have been nothing but professional and showed good sportsmanship.......even when they kicked our butt. My comments were to one person, NOT to the entire program. I also know from reading these post for a couple years, that TD is a standup guy.......TD, no offense to you! I appreciate that. I get defensive and feel the need to defend our coaches when people start talking about running up the score. I understand your thoughts about the 17 points but that was a joke between two guys and maybe should have been made in a PM. We have 2 main coaches and several other guys that contribute alot. Those guys allow me to "coach" with them. I'm a baseball guy, not football. If I could choose my boys coaches I would keep them with these guys through Jr high. They are good coaches and better motivators. Not only that there isn't a day goes by that the boys aren't talked to and taught about more than football. Therefore, you can see why I put my guard up and tend to defend these guys. The people that don't know them tend to misunderstand them. We have 3 QB's and 3 sets of running backs and every one of them knows the plays and they all play hard. It's hard not to score when the kids are coached as ours are. How do you tell a 3rd string backfield to lay down and not get his work in? We never know when we may need them. I'm going to try to be done with this. No promises though. ;D Good post TD.......your right, my only issue was with the 17 point thing......but it's over. Now looks like your only concern will be Lumberton White in the SuperBowl ;D ;D ;D No one is gauranteed a superbowl berth. There is still alot of football left to be played this season before the playoffs. Upsets happen at all levels in sports. Do not forget about Nederland White. They seem to have a good thing going on over there too. This week we have PNG Purple. That is all we are thinking about. So Tragichippy, no one expected Lumberton White to make the Superbowl last year. It happened by hitting our stride at the right time. Do we all have another surprise in store for us this year? PNG White was talking about the Superbowl last year and didn't make it out of the first round. Lets slow our roll a little bit on Superbowl talk and take it one week at a time. It's ANYONES game.....yor right. Was just "joking" with TD. I have been very impressed with Jr. Lumb. White, the coaching and the talent is good. Again, I wish everyone "good Luck" , was just joking around with TD.

  19. Can anyone explain this game and what MPR violations? if I'm not mistaken, every player must get a minimum of 10 plays per game.

Just for that i'm make sure i put 40 on u today sportsnut72. The "running up the score" card was played by WOS98 before the game started. He then mentioned the 57 - 0 victory claiming he was off by 17 points. You may have missed that in these post. My only comment was he should have let the score speak for itself. Did he really need to call it out?? But, like I said earlier, it's a free country and people can act like they want. I just posted the score. If u call that running up the score then thats u. If a team beats us by 40 or more me and my coach's gone wonder what we wrong with our game plan. If u had a chance to put 40 on Wos Jr. White u will. Like i said, we put kids in that never score a td in little league. So that tells u something (we work hard at what we do and take PROUD in it). Your missing the whole point(and you didnt just post the score, you talked smack), but I have no issue in you beating a team by 100 points if you follow the rules. It's obvious you don't get it. I guess I'm not explaining myself clearly enough, but don't know how else to say it. So, for the sake of "GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP"..........GOOD GAME WOS!

  22. I know this probably sounds strange coming from a female but why is there a lady announcer? I do not think I have ever heard a female announcer for a football team. Only females I hear in the press box is announcing the cheer squad or band. Does anyone else think a female announcer is a little weird? yea......kinda strange
  23. Just for that I'm make sure i put 40 on u today sportsnut72. WOS JR WHITE 57 NED JR GOLD 0 Sportsnut72 i was 17 points over the 40 i was suppose to put on u. Take nothing away from Ned. Jr. Gold they were a good team but sportsnut72 need to take the blame for this one for predicting Ned Jr. Gold to beat Wos Jr. White 21-0. ??? :-X :-\ great job WOS........but I would respect a team more that lets the score speak versus handling it like this. We let kids score TD's that never scored in little league what more can we do. So give respect when respect is do. ;D ;D ;D ;D. Matter of fact we don;t respect nobody when we get in between the lines. :D Now after we get from in between the lines we might give u respect. :-X :-X :-X When u beat a team 57 - 0 , I don't think you need to smack talk........ but thats what makes this country great, your free to act however you want. Respect in a game goes a lot further than a score Like I said earlier, great job on the win..
  24. Man........talk about needing a drink during that game. Very close!! Thanks for the support. I have nothing but respect for the blue team......those kids played with heart! Very improved team from the beginning of the season. Looks like they have a great coaching staff!!
