that is when you make an "educated" guess;)

I was not a "good student" by any means of the term. I would of much rather been doing anything but homework. My parents however, didn't accept bad grades......so I had to do homework on my own or because they made me. I did the absolute minimum I had to in order to stay unpunished. I, like you, always managed to pass.

I'm not so sure what is wrong with STAAR. My Son (who I am very proud of), HATES reading......Hates it....I have to stay on him to get his AR points.....but he has never had a problem with the STAAR test. He scores about average. Could it be I stay on him during the school year and make sure he has good grades? I only accept A's & B's at my house. I do not "make" him study if he brings home A's and B's, and he better get A's in anything non-academic. If he makes a C, it's 1 hour mandatory study time every night, and no week day extracurricular's. This formula seems to work for me. I wonder how many parents don't make their kids study throughout the year, then complain when they cannot pass the STAAR?

16 yr old Burgalry suspect killed in Hamshire
thetragichippy replied to PhatMack19's topic in The Locker Room
Makes you wonder what was going through his head. Why did he pick that house? They claimed he lived in the area, did he not know the guy was armed? What was he after? As a parent you hope you raise them right so things like this do not happen. Crazy! -

Good post TVC.......I will add those that think it would be easy to kill anyone would be sadly mistaken. To me it would be even harder if they were 16...... -

I agree.....was shocked -
My only issue is we have become a society that expects to have all information as soon as it happens. I don't see how you can gather hours if not days of information, process it, double check it, compare statements to physical evidence in a few hours. The we have SOME people who will believe whatever the media reports. It has been proven time and time again that the media will report and word things just to get ratings. So, we will have better information once the investigation is complete.

Black man killed by police in New York
thetragichippy replied to BS Wildcats's topic in The Locker Room
He pleaded guilty to weapon possession charges in connection with a 1995 murder and subsequently to two assaults while in custody — once slashing an inmate on a bus between court and the Rikers Island jail complex and another time slashing an inmate so badly he required 60 stiches. He should of never been released in the public. After those two incidents, he should of served his full term of his initial conviction PLUS added time for each of those. -

It's usually a bad idea to give the impression you are using your vehicle as a weapon.

I have NEVER did anything other than what the cops ask me to do. So, no, I didn't deserve to be shot or killed.
-
Including the police.... The common denominator in all these unnecessary killings is they were breaking a law.

The singer in my band lost her Son in a work related accident about 7 weeks ago. It really made me think about how lucky I am that I have my son. As a father, I can't imagine loosing my Son. I'm not sure I could continue..... With that said, this article about this young man touched me. From the article: “Relieved wouldn’t be the word,” Adrian Taylor told The Washington Post in a telephone interview. “We are all human and make mistakes and there isn’t a winner in this. You know what I mean? We are both losers.” “We were hoping of finding out some more information because that [person in the video] was not my son.” This Father makes a lot of sense, and as of yet, does not appear to trying to get his 15 minutes of fame. It is worth the read if you want to get a perspective of the Fathers side. [Hidden Content]

Should probation officers be armed?
thetragichippy replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in The Locker Room
I have no problem with it if they are trained. -
I bet he did not wake up this morning knowing he would have to pee sitting down for the rest of his life.....

It was a good post......I just wish Bandkid (sorry, I will always remember you as that) would be a little more specific and precise with his post. They are always so vague......

How is that a win? Is not the point of a hoodie for the hood? Educate me Buddy......I must have missed something

Arlington officer's attorney: Decision to fire Miller “insulting” We are about to hear the other side [Hidden Content]

JUST IN......Hoodies allowed at West Brook, you just won't be allowed to wear the hood on your head...... So, might as well wear a sweat shirt..... Politics at work

That was pretty funny

Do you think there should be no SAFE distance? Should I be able to take a selfie with the officer while he is doing his job?
-
He was jumping up and down and appeared to be tearing things off of cars. That would fit my definition of acting a fool

Miller confronted Taylor and ordered him to get down on the ground, Johnson said. Taylor did not comply. Instead, he began "actively advancing toward Officer Miller," Johnson said. Miller's field training officer, who had followed Miller into the showroom, drew his own Taser. The training officer heard a single pop of what he thought was Miller's Taser, but Miller actually had drawn his service weapon and fired it at Taylor, who is believed to have been 7 to 10 feet away from the officer, Johnson said. After Taylor continued to approach, Miller fired his gun three more times. So here is my thing......If one shot from a service revolver will not stop him from approaching, what would the taser have done? Letting someone get 7-10 ft from you while there charging is pretty generous in my mind......but again, I'm too old to fist fight a 20 year old on drugs.....
