  1. Repentance is an ACTION by us....... in Luke 13:3 it is an ACTION COMMANDED by Jesus......in Acts 2:38 in response to the question "what shall we DO"' Peter told them to repent and be baptized.....so God says repentance is an action...... God didn't make an error.....the error comes from the false teachers who say that God doesn't require us to DO WHAT HE SAID TO DO in order to be saved.....because IF you truly believe Him, you will DO WHAT HE SAID TO DO.......if you really believe, not just SAY you believe, then what holds you back from doing what He said to do???
  2. According to JESUS....... Matthew 7:13-14English Standard Version (ESV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few
  3. Following His commandments doesn't "earn" us anything....... Luke 17:10English Standard Version (ESV) 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants;[a] we have only done what was our duty After we hear and BELIEVE His word (an action or work by the way), He tells us to REPENT of our past sins (another action or work)..... John 3:16.....Acts 2:38 He tells us to acknowledge or to CONFESS that He Is The Messiah ( yet another action or work)....... Romans 10:9 He tells us to be baptized for remission of sins (another action on our part)..... Acts 2:38......Acts 22:16......Mark 16:15-16...... He also tells us we must live faithful lives until we die (even more action by us)............Revelation 2:10 as you can see there are several things He REQUIRES us to do if we are to receive His freely offered gift of salvation.......not a one of them earns salvation, we are simply OBEYING our God.........and it's only confusing to those who want to be saved their way, not Gods Way......anyone with faith will DO WHAT GOD TOLD THEM TO DO........ The passage from James was not misused......it is one of those passages that show us how to live a faithful life........ you never answered about where is repentance in Romans 10:9.......
  4. Read Luke from my previous post about earning anything......also, the passage you quoted mentions nothing about repentance......so evidently you can be saved without repenting according to your logic........works are a part of faithful living, and are required as well, not because they earn us anything, but because God COMMANDED it...... James 2:14-26English Standard Version (ESV) Faith Without Works Is Dead 14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[a] is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. And no, the Lords Church is not a denomination by any definition of the word.....
  5. We are trying to teach the lost....if you have not been baptized for the remission of your sins, you are NOT saved.....the Lord's Church is not one of your false, man made denominations, it's founding can be read about in Acts 2......... DOING what God said to do in order to receive His freely offered gift is not earning anything...... Luke 17:10English Standard Version (ESV) 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants;[a] we have only done what was our duty.’ the he scripture mat posted tells us that when we approach God in prayer we should do so humbly..... James 4:10English Standard Version (ESV) 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. when we stand for THE TRUTH, we are to do so boldly...... Ephesians 6:19English Standard Version (ESV) 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, Always being ready to defend THE TRUTH 1 Peter 3:15English Standard Version (ESV) 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
  6. You could have left hours ago.......I said it five times.......lol....... you have a nice day, too.......
  7. Doing what God told us to do is not a work........baptism is a COMMAND from God that saves us when our faith is deep enough to give up our preconceived notions and the false denominational teaching.... For the FIFTH time now, No, you are not saved if you are a member of one of the false, man made denominations.......SCRIPTURE shows that very clearly.......
  8. Ive answered it four times already........read......
  9. Both translations say the same thing.......both say very clearly that it is BAPTISM that saves us......both say very clearly that baptism is more than just getting wet.....both translations say that when we believe what Jeseus said, our conscience will lead us to obey His COMMAND to be baptized.........see the quotes from Colossians and Titus in previous posts.......they complement this passage nicely........
  10. You say baptism doesn't save us......The a Holy Spirit speaking through Peter disagrees...... 1 Peter 3:21English Standard Version (ESV) 21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
  11. Show me which ones change the meaning, please......I read them all in several versions and the meaning was the same.......I don't need some uninspired man to educate me, I have The Word of God.......
  12. He may have been a member of a congregation of the church of Christ, but the Lord knows His own.......he most definitely was not a member of the Lords Church.....you aren't getting the concept.......God adds to His church those who obey.......men congregate together while alive on earth to worship and work together as part of living faithful lives......so he may have been in a congregation on earth, but unless he repented and turned back to God,he won't be there when Christ comes to claim His Bride, the Church......you can fool men, you can't fool God.....
  13. Matthew 5:11-12English Standard Version (ESV) 11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
  14. True, but when you go compare them to the same passages in the King James, you see that they were repetitive for the most part, and removing them didn't change the meaning of what was being taught......ESV footnotes it and puts it there as reference......this does show, though, why its important to use several translations in your studies.......
  15. YOU said that.......there is no scriptural basis for the "gatekeepers into the promised land" shot, so no, I will not be telling anyone that.....
  16. They are not Christians if they are actively engaged in these things which are described as sexual immorality by God......when they REPENT and obey God, they are forgiven.....there are no pedophiles or homosexuals in the Lord's Church......
  17. Your point?????
  18. I am narrow......I'm on that narrow path to the straight gate that leads to salvation.....you feel free to remain with the crowd, I'll do what God said to do..... Matthew 7:13-14English Standard Version (ESV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are
  19. I know what you mean......I've gone to my iPad.....lol.... I never said Grace had to be earned......it is a gift from God, and God has told us what to do to receive His free gift......doing what God commands isn't earning Grace, it's what He expects us to do if we want His freely offered gift...... Luke 17:10English Standard Version (ESV) 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants;[a] we have only done what was our duty.’” And he told us we must HEAR His Word and BELIEVE His Word...... Romans 10:17English Standard Version (ESV) 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. we must CONFESS publicly our belief that He Is The Messiah.... Matthew 10:32English Standard Version (ESV) 32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, and the the passage from Romans you have quoted also shows we must believe and confess.........we must REPENT of our past sins...... Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38........... and we we must be BAPTIZED, immersed in water to have those sins washed away........I have quoted all of the relevant passages several times for this one......this is how we are born again, of water and of The Spirit..... John 3:3-5English Standard Version (ESV) 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[a] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Then we must live faithful lives until we die.......Revelations 2:10....... THAT is the Gospel.......THAT is how we accept Gods freely offered gift of Grace........
  20. If the Holy Spirit didn't want it, it wouldn't be accepted......my example is the fictional version the Jehovahs Witnesses made......if the Holy Spirit didn't want anything 'ripped from the Bible" it would not be...... i dont know know what happened on my previous post to garble it up......I was quoting Titus 3:4-7 Titus 3:4-7English Standard Version (ESV) 4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
  21. How does one receive the free gift of Grace???? You ne must DO WHAT GOD SAID TO DO......Hebrews 11 and James 2 show us several examples of this......Noah was saved by Grace, Noah was saved by works......God told Noah what to do to be saved from the flood, and Noah DID what God told him to do.....Noah would not have been saved if his faith had not led him to obey God......and there are others in those chapters.......we are saved by Grace along with with faith and obedient works......your sins are washed away in the waters of baptism because that is the point your faith has led you to obedience......baptism is where you come into contact with the Blood of Christ and are cleansed...... Mark 16: 15-16....Acts 22:16..... Colossians 2:8-15English Standard Version (ESV) 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities[b] and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. —Amuzgo de Guerrero (AMU)— Amuzgo de Guerrero (AMU) —العربية (AR)— Arabic Bible: Easy-to-Read Version (ERV-AR) Ketab El Hayat (NAV) —अवधी (AWA)— Awadhi Bible: Easy-to-Read Version (ERV-AWA) —Български (BG)— 1940 Bulgarian Bible (BG1940) Bulgarian Bible (BULG) Bulgarian New Testament: Easy-to-Read Version (ERV-BG) Bulgarian Protestant Bible (BPB) —Chinanteco de Comaltepec (CCO)— Chinanteco de Comaltepec (CCO) —Cebuano (CEB)— Ang Pulong Sa Dios (APSD-CEB) —ᏣᎳᎩ ᎦᏬᏂᎯᏍ (CHR)— Cherokee New Testament (CHR) —Cakchiquel Occidental (CKW)— Cakchiquel Occidental (CKW) —Čeština (CS)— Bible 21 (B21) Slovo na cestu (SNC) —Cymraeg (CY)— Beibl William Morgan (BWM) —Dansk (DA)— Bibelen på hverdagsdansk (BPH) Dette er Biblen på dansk (DN1933) —Deutsch (DE)— Hoffnung für Alle (HOF) Luther Bibel 1545 (LUTH1545) Neue Genfer Übersetzung (NGU-DE) Schlachter 1951 (SCH1951) Schlachter 2000 (SCH2000) —English (EN)— 21st Century King James Version (KJ21) American Standard Version (ASV) Amplified Bible (AMP) Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) BRG Bible (BRG) Common English Bible (CEB) Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Contemporary English Version (CEV) Darby Translation (DARBY) Disciples’ Literal New Testament (DLNT) Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA) Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) English Standard Version (ESV) English Standard Version Anglicised (ESVUK) Expanded Bible (EXB) 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV) GOD’S WORD Translation (GW) Good News Translation (GNT) Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) International Children’s Bible (ICB) International Standard Version (ISV) J.B. So for the third time, you must be a member of The Church founded by Christ to be saved......no man made denomination fits that definition......many congregations with church of Christ on the front door don't fit that definition.....so just going to a church of Christ does not save you.....DOING WHAT GOD SAID TO DO is what saves you.......
  22. I will answer you with God's own Words...... Isaiah 55:8-9English Standard Version (ESV) 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
  23. We judge them by their fruits.....what they are studying obviously led some of them to see nothing wrong with homosexual behavior or pedophilia......the problem lies with their lack of understanding of Gods Word.......there is nothing in our modern Bible that the Holy Spirit doesn't want in there......there is nothing left out of the Bible that the Holy Spirit wants included.......I don't care what uninspired men have to say about it......
