As much as it pains me to say it ...... Newton is prolly the best AA school in the area followed by EC.

I wonder how many teams in SE Texas still observe the true 2 a day workout of 2-3 hour practice in the AM and a 2-3 hour practice late afternoon / early evening?

Seems like many schools are using 2 practice sessions in the AM with a short break between the 2 practice sessions.

Tramain Thomas    QB  Sr.  - No explanation needed

Vance McDonald    TE  Sr.  - Missed most of last season due to shoulder injury. Solid contributor when he was healthy last year.

Paul Trammell        LB    Sr.  - Finished the year with 119 Tackles. Missed one and a half games due to pulled hamstring and deep thigh bruise.

Donte Raymond      TB  Jr.  - Has big shoes to fill with loss of Gene LeDay.

Yea, he wasnt the greatest shot thrower but im willing to bet anything there is not one player in 24 AA that can tackle him one on one!

Sounds impressive. EC has a couple kids that would be willing to give it a shot.

Well said Swami.  Home town is not always best. They already have one hometown boy coaching at the junior high level- BUT, you can't get rid of him.

Hiring former students to coach at their alma maters SELDOM works out. It leads to "inbreeding" of the organization and it's hard to get rid of a hometown dud when you've been friends with his/her mama & daddy for the last 25 years. This is especially true in the smaller school districts.

ok yes that was a long game but hardin has some outstanding athletes coming up a few nice size bodies so expect alot more from the hornets i think maybe a third place finish

That's what makes HS football so great. Every team is a playoff contender before the season starts.

Like I said, best of luck to the Hornets. I know the sun don't shine on the same dog's arse every day but I'm thinking the Hornets will be under a cloud for another season.

Kountze may be improved but I can't see them keepiing EC,Deweyville, Warren or Buna out of the playoffs.

The talent may be there and it's easy to display confidence on a message board but it takes that deep down belief you're gonna win to be a champion. I don't think the Lions have it.

Last year's underclassmen are bigger,faster & stronger than they were last year and these kids are the same ones that hung 52 points on Hardin by halftime of last season's contest. Thank God the weather intervened and the game ended at halftime. I was embarrassed for Hardin that night.

Not trying to be mean and I wish Hardin the best except when they play EC BUT ..... unless you have some great incoming freshmen players or your coach wasn't putting the best players on the field last season, the 2007 season doesn't look that much brighter for you guys. IMO.

I understand the concept of new coach = new attitude, young players getting stronger, etc. but those apply to several, if not all teams in 24AA.

EC has a new DC and we expect good things with his addition to the coaching staff. To win district yall would have to beat Buna and Dville, and if that were to happen then you would beat East Chambers. I know that wont happen, so what I'm saying is yall would probably end up 4th in this district.

What color of kool-aid are the people in Buna drinking these days? Until Buna beats EC, the Cougs have no place putting themselves in the same league as EC, Deweyville or West Hardin.

You boys might have a pretty good season this year, only time will tell, but to quote Barry Switzer "son, you aint peed a drop".

I suggest using one of the recruiting agencies. For about 2 grand, they'll help you put a recruiting video together and get it in front of hundreds of college recruiters.

We did this for our daughter and she has received several offers to play BB from schools throughout the midwest.

How many seniors is Ec going to have?

Not sure the exact number but here's a list of some of the more prominent members of that class.

Thomas, Trammell, McDonald, White, Trevino, Devillier, Barrow, Penny, Bertrand & Joseph.

Your right steeler..any team is capable of an upset deweyvilles o-line will be awesome this year we only lost 1 last year.

Any team is capable of pulling of an upset on any given night. What stands out about EC, and I recognize I am biased, is the talent and focus of the Senior class. These guys are busting their tails getting ready for the season by participating in a strength & conditioning program. IMO we lacked this type of leadership from last year's Sr. class.

East Chambers has the talent and more importantly, the expectation of winning.

You're need to seek reassurance from anonymous posters on a message board regarding your team's chance of success betrays your own lack of confidence. Teams that really believe they will make the playoffs don't need someone else telling them they can.

Like my 'ol Daddy used to say ..... poop in one hand and wish in the other & see which one fills up first. 

Kountze needs to give up on the grid iron glory dreams and stick to hoops.

EC is clearly the front runner going into the season. Anyone close to the EC program knows the Junior class were the leaders of last season's District championship team. Thomas, Trammell, McDonald, White, Trevino, Barrow, Devillier, Penny are all Seniors and they are busting their tails off during summer strength & conditioning. Juniors Renner & Raymond are expected to be huge contributors as well. These boys are going to be ready to play when the season starts. Barring significant injury, EC should repeat as District Champ.

For H-I's sake, I hate that Rusty left. (although I certainly welcome him here at EC).

From what I've heard, he's going to be a great addition to the EC coaching staff.

Vance McDonald - EC

He was hampered last season as a Jr. with a separated shoulder. Did very well as a TE during the games he was able to play in.

I'll get one simply because there's nothing else.

As crazy as SE Texans are about their HS football, I'm surprised there's not an annual magazine devoted to SE Texas HS football teams similar to the "Top of Texas" magazine that provides a pre-season view of all Region I teams.

Deweyville was the ONLY 24AA team to actually compete with EC last season. Buna played a good game for the 1st quarter against EC then folded like a cheap rag doll for the other 3 quarters. This was on Buna's home field no less.
