When Lamar passed on recruiting this Central High stand out. [Hidden Content]

Lamar has screwed itself again. It took 20 years for Lamar and fans to figure out dropping football was a screw-up. Stupid people in powerful positions. Words can't describe by disappointment in Lamar, again. The SLC being a bottom conference will never attract the talent to bring back the glory days of Lamar in basketball. Think about the last 15 years in the SLC. Lamar was never able to dominate the slc or win a commissioners cup. The next 20 years will be a repeat of those years. Failure after failure. And when Lamar do break through to win a NCAA trip, it will be using SLC talent level which mean at best a 16 seed...1 and done. Lamar will never grow in the depleted slc. The SBC still would like a school around Houston. The second choice would be SHSU. And SHSU will get their duckies in line and will get a SBC invite. I bet any of you any amount of money SHSU will not say no, we rather stay in a conference with Lamar, Incarnate Word, and Nicholls st. Oral Roberts is already making moves for a MVC move. No, the SBC is no basketball powerhouse however the potential is there. There is no potential in the slc being anything more than a play-in conference in MBB. As for football, I expect another losing year from our HIGHEST paided slc football coach. Yes, we should beat Bacone and Oklahoma panhandle st. Our non-conference home games, wow, exciting. I was a student at Lamar when Lamar dropped football. There was little to no student outrage. No community outrage. Just mindless minions following ever Lamar stupid move. I felt alone then as do I now. This community with all the talent deserve better than a FCS in the SLC. Lamar is a disappointment with no community respect. And everyone is ok with that.

ULM played Baylor in Monroe. This year is a return trip. C'mon, stop playing with facts, like a politician, as to cover up for Lamar's stupidity. Wow, SFA and UCA is on Lamar schedule. ULL, a former Lamar conference mate, played Okie st in Lafayette. GAWD, I can't believe you said UCA and SFA. I'll give you Mcneese. But that is the mentality at Lamar. Lamar can never and should never think it could be equal or above SFA, SHSU, and Mcneese. Tied to the hip. However I bet those schools don't find Lamar attractive on the schedule or willing to stay behind just to be in conference with Lamar. What a shiftless low self-esteem mentality. Let me ask the forum a question. There was a time when Lamar was playing the highest level in football while Texas st...SWT... was playing DII football. Fast forward to today. Texas st is playing at the highest level while Lamar is playing jv. Who is was the wiser?

Nothing hard about this. ULM will play Baylor Lamar will play Bacone ULM will play on ESPN Lamar will play on 560 klvi ULM is FBS Lamar is where you go when you can't get in a FBS.
UNLV, do you have any proof that Lamar passed up a FBS invite? Who in the LU administration told you this? I think the reality is that Lamar was not invited to the Sun Belt, just like they were not invited to the WAC a few years ago.
Cola, do you have any proof that SBC passed up a Lamar FBS invite? Who in the SBC administration told you this? I have been saying for months something is not making sense. Well it turns out it was me refusing to believe Lamar took itself out of consideration. For the pass month I was saying the SBC will choose Lamar or pass. Since Lamar said no, pass was the only option. AND THE SBC PASSED, JUST LIKE I PREDICTED. SBC doesn't have a 12th option except for Liberty and JMU therefore the SBC would love to invite Lamar. I bet Evans and Henderson is behind this. Henderson should have never been hired as any school AD.

Good informative post. However, Lamar can afford the SBC and FBS yet they chose to keep Lamar down. Someone posted here a while ago Lamar should stay in the SLC to be with friends, Mcneese, SFA, and SHSU. IMO, IMO, IMO, no link, IMO I believe this is the reason Lamar past up a FBS invite. In 5 years, SHSU will be ready, I bet SHSU wont pass up any opportunity to better itself to stay in a conference with Lamar..aka stupid. Some SHSU fans are wanting to join the southern conference. A cool ideal IMO. "That drops SoCon down to 7 members from their 12? Maybe it's time they look West and pick up a few schools over here. I know we're out of their footprint, but imagine adding SHSU, SFA, & McNeese (maybe UCA even). It's not the SoCon of old (by any means), but it's better than the scraps of Lamar, IWU, and HBU." quote from www.katfans.com
What should have done was the the Mountain West Conference needs to be more like the WAC almost 15 years ago and be expanded to 14-16 schools! They need to invite Montana and Northern Arizona to the mix as well as add NMSU and Idaho! It'll be best for both schools!
Those schools would do nothing to raise the MWC. Maybe Montana. SFA and SHSU both finished higher than Lamar in the Com. cup, AGAIN. It is no coincident those schools do more with less. ULM is FBS with a $8 million budget, while Lamar can not afford FBS with a $14 million budget.
That's great! Like I said, we need to invest in LU's future in order to meet the highest standards of this university as much as possible! Lamar is the People's University and it should act this way! Does anyone realize how much trouble this university have went through over the years to bring football back to campus? The alumni and entire community invested in its both short and long term future and that is upgrading and expanding the facilities on campus making it one of the best in the conference? It could be a lot of trouble getting Lamar to FBS status. Like said, we need to act now!
Too late... Lamar chances of leaving the slc to go fbs within the next 10 years is nearly 0. What needs to happen. 1. A FBS conference out west needs to start up and invite Idaho and NMSU. or 2. UL-M drops down. Budget cuts. neither is happening in the next 10 years. This crap makes me so mad. All Lamar needs to do is say yes before June. If SHSU was in Lamar shoes, SHSU would have been gone.

Another quick example. Lamar's budget is $14 million UL-Monroe budget is $8 million. this budget will drop to $7 million soon. budget cuts. UL-Monroe can afford to stay FBS by playing Arkansas and Baylor. Lamar will play Texas AM for $350k. If Lamar had gone FBS, Lamar would get at least $900k for the same freaking game. Does Lamar have a math dept. or did it leave with Dr Price retirement.

Insane to think SBC wants to lose a boat load of money by not going 12/CCG. Again, this was a golden opportunity for Lamar. I suppose play Bacone, Mcmury, and Langston home games beats playing Oklahoma st, Baylor, and Texas Tech at home.
The SBC took Idaho and NMSU because they are already FBS so it keeps the conference from having too many transition teams. Having a championship game will not bring in a boatload of money for the SBC. I read they renewed their TV contract which only brings in $40K per school. A championship game would hardly change that amount. Getting teams like Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, etc. in Beaumont wouldn't happen until the stadium was expanded to at least 30K, and that would require tens of millions from private donors...not happening anytime soon. Lamar is still trying to find money for a new video board for the Montagne Center, baseball stadium upgrades, and the softball field. Lamar blew it big time by dropping football then leaving the Sun Belt. They may never recover from those two mistakes.
MONEY, is not the reason Lamar passed on going FBS. Lamar announcing and the money would flow. 2nd, SBC only needed to take either NMSU or Idaho, not necessary to take both for 2014. 3rd each school would get 40k, the 2 CCG teams would get a lot more and a ESPN game. priceless. Lamar would make a boat load more money being a losing FBS than being a winning FCS. So money again is not the issue. Another major screw up by Lamar.

Better yet, copy and paste the post that represents your comment. What you won't accept is that you build up a plan for Lamar in your own mind and then go on pointless rants when LU's leadership doesn't follow your agenda. Unless you can give us non-anecdotal or non-hearsay information into the reasons behind Lamar's decisions, it's clear that the department understands the situation better than you do.
Chillin words to me, 'it's clear that the department understands the situation better than you do. '' I was told the same after a 5-4 vote to drop football. deja vu And deja vu to passive attitudes at Lamar screwing up again. Insane to think SBC wanted Idaho over Lamar. Insane to think SBC wants to lose a boat load of money by not going 12/CCG. Again, this was a golden opportunity for Lamar. I hope you get what you ask for... ;)
Stop lying. You are enjoying every minute as Lamar once again makes a national moron of itself and at stupid fans like me who defended Lamar..... never again.
Why do you say Lamar made a national moron of itself? They were not publicly trying to get into the Sun Belt. You, on the other hand, should be embarrassed for the stuff you've said about Lamar on the different forums you comment on these past few years.
True, very true. If the world does not see you making another moron of yourself, ok. But I saw it. I was quiet on the issue, quiet for me, hoping Henderson was hiding a secret. LAMAR was never in the picture. The evidence says the SBC didn't reject Lamar, Lamar said no to the SBC. Without going over the facts again, Lamar is not so ugly that the frugal SBC would pass on the money and a 12th member. The SBC has no one. NO JMU, NO MO st, NOTHING. A slam-dunk for Lamar. Dropping football, dropping to the slc, and now passing up a FBS chance. You can always count on Lamar. The only thing I am embarrassed about is supporting and making excuses for Lamar. Many posters on this forum sees Lamar as a big joke. Maybe I should have listen to them instead of hitting back.
