Lamar should be just about finished with all of it's facility upgrades and it's athletic budget should be closer to $10M a year than just $5M now. Lamar should be able to make a jump to a better conference at that time. CUSA? You people are dreaming. Lamar needs to be very successful in the Southland Conf first and foremost. Compete for and win a FCS(D1AA) championship. There are too many other options for CUSA to add. Why Lamar when you have all of the SunBelt schools (read established D1A) to choose from. Troy, Arkansas State, North Texas, etc., to name a few. Besides, a $10 million athletic budget is nothing these days. That's probably the very bottom end for an FBS program. Besides, CUSA is not looking to add another football any time soon. Womens swimming, not football. Never happen. And you base that on what?

CUSA would welcome Lamar with open arms. Conference allow one sport members all the time. Check out CUSA mens swimming, they have Hawaii as a one sport member.

Lamar needs to hire a coach, recruit women swimmers, and join CUSA in that sport now.

So if only a 1000 voted, what does this say about the student body & football? Let's see, there are at least 1500 students living on campus. About a 10,000 student enrollment. My greatest fear is that this thing passes and no community or student support for the program, unless there is some major school to come in and play and then the attendance will look good for that particular game. And I don't think local recruiting will bring in your fan base. Many of these kids are good in high school but it doesn't mean they are good at the next level. Young people turn out is low in any election, football or presidential. Means nothing towards attendance.

Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer is helping Tubbs find the right coach.

We would all agree Jimmy Johnson wouold be the best coach. Ofcourse Port Arthur would go shooting free for the rest of the year before that happens. I like Switzer as coach with a young hungry assistant waiting to take over after 3-4 years. RC Slocum would be my second choice. Sam Houston st assistant would be my third.
