  1. I should have been more clear with the poll. Everyone agree, including myself, start at I-AA. The poll was meant as a final goal.
  2. BTW, UL-Monroe lost to Kanas by 2 points. I don't call that being hammered.
  3. Did not LU also play in the Pecan Bowl. Had the money been available 4 years ago, LU would be playing football with former Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer as HC. So don't tell me Dodge won't come here. Roc was rated as one of the nations top assistants for a coaching job yet he chose LU. Dodge may get the call from UT or may not. If not, then LU could grab him. Not everyone look down their nose at LU and SETX. Dodge could take pride in his hometown area just as ROC and Tubbs. I put my money on Dodge coming here. I'm sure Tubbs too see him as the obvious choice and will make it happen.
  4. Should LU play I-A or I-AA football?
  5. I agree. But you can't be too local to where LU can't win. We have talent but not enough. A local coach or a coach from this area like Todd Dodge?
  6. Instead of being the preaching section, lol, why not see if the sports dept at KFDM do a poll on whether the public would support a LU play I-A(Bowl level) or I-AA(Championship level) or no football is needed at LU.
  7. No large number of fans in SETX will support I-AA football. Nobody was interested in SFA or any other SLC football. LU should bring back football at I-AA level with the promise of I-A in 2-3 years. You can't just say fans must support. You saying saying fan must support is just as out there as the doom stadium. What fans? LU no longer has football fans. LU must earn/win it fans. Getting those fans by playing SFA will not happen. I do agree LU must have a minimum of 1/3 the players being from SETX.
  8. No name change for LU.
  9. Shreveport got the Dallas/New Orleans pre-season game. With the mini-dome, Beaumont could get a Texans pre-season. Am I wrong?
  10. How about this. Lamar "Big Bad Birds" Cardinals
  11. Great stadium for I-AA, bad stadium for I-A.
  12. Post a few winning seasons, bring in some mid-major names, I-A. The community would embrace LU football.
  13. If LU wants ppl to know who they are then LU needs to do something impressive.
  14. I guess we just have to disagree. I don't see a benefit. BTW, Shane Battier knew the location of LU when LU played Duke.
  15. They also said if LU beats Mcneese in the final game, Football stays. Final score LU won. Crooks ran LU at the time. Lets imagine what could have happened if LU kept football. LU and LA-tech was like buddy buddy rival. They left the SLC conference together just like ole pals. LU dropped football, Tech went I-A. Had LU not had crooked regents, LU would have gone I-A. LU would be in the WAC right now. Fresno St in Beaumont anyone? Hawaii?
  16. South this and northwest that is generic names, why would they consider lowering LU to that level.
  17. TSU-Beaumont. This a bad idea. Lamar has a name distinct from anyone in the country. Southeast Texas st, now we are linked to Southeast LA. Good grief you dont see Deke changing its distinct name for a direction. Going from TSU-Beaumont to LU is a step up, vice-versa is a generic name step down.
  18. Excellent. I-AA should be the beginning goal. I-A should be the final goal.
  19. I dont see how the name benefits the school. Everyone in this area knows where LU is located. And I doubt putting the location in the school name will attract students. Southwest Texas state, USL, Southwest LA moved away from those directional names, LU shouldn't go backwards. Dr Simmons is doing great things at LU, research center as an example, I hope he doesn't follow it with a stupid move. Keep it Lamar University.
  20. Look at this website. Look how unstable the CUSA, WAC, and Sunbelt. [Hidden Content] If LU wants to move up, it needs to bring back football within next 2 years.
  21. If a name change happens, the new school can no longer claim a sweet 16 or AP top 20 or any past accomplishments.
  22. They must think about former graduates. Those ppl want to support the LU, not Southeast Texas ST. I could accept Lamar Beaumont University or Lamar Southeast Texas...nahhh, too cumbersome. Leave the name alone. We could have success without a dumb name change, hence McNeese, Gonzaga, Creighton, Rice, etc etc.
