Tulsa wants out bad. CUSA will be ranked below the Sunbelt for years. Marshall? UTEP? ECU? I think So. Miss. stays.
-
If the BCS goes ahead with dropping AQ, does these conference moves still makes sense? San diego and Boise st in the Big East? or Houston?
-
Very very very very near dead. Schrodinger's cat dead. Many CUSA fans are not happy with the poor athletic state of the schools being invited. La Tech football is ok, but remaining sports stink. La Tech is last in the WAC commissioners cup. UNT has one of the worse football programs. FIU, like Tech, ok in football but sucks in other major sports. UTSA, enough said. Not to say those schools can't improve however I don't believe they will because CUSA becomes another Sunbelt, except in academics. The point I'm making is not to down those schools because I would love to see Lamar in conference with La Tech and UNT again. A few schools like UTEP, Marshall, ECU, Tulsa, and maybe Rice might leave this watered down CUSA. Tulsa and Rice can afford to leave. Tulsa wants in on MWC. Marshall is wondering why play in a crappy conference with lots of travel when you can play in a crappy FBS nearby, MAC. ECU wants no part of this new CUSA. UTEP wants in on MWC. UTEP, Tulsa, Utah st, SJSU gives MWC 12 and championship game.
WAC wasn't a good option for Lamar. There was plenty of noise about the conference falling apart. With Sun Belt teams leaving for CUSA it could open the door for Lamar. Not saying it will but it might.
Tx st will get the call over Lamar for the Sunbelt. Lamar FBS chances is over. Losing the WAC is losing a minimum of 8 FBS slots.
-
Lamar FBS chances are infinitely close to zero. Once again Lamar boneheaded it's way to nowhere. Houston Baptist and Nichols st for a minimum next 15 years.
-
LALA Land Cola 1. Lamar made the most passive unsure of itself attempt at the WAC. 2. Independence at FBS would not kill the program if the WAC stopped football. There would leave at least 8 FBS independent FBS nation wide and plenty of FCS to have 11 games. FCS is what killed Lamar football. 3. Lamar and Eastern WAC schools has an opportunity to take control of the WAC FBS yet Lamar does nothing. Lamar and eastern schools could then shape the WAC to fit Lamar and eastern school needs. Sitting back and waiting is stupid on Lamar's part. Letting the WAC FBS ticket die is more stupid.
-
With Lamar's mentality, we could only dream about playing with the big boys like UL-Monroe, ULL, La Tech, Troy or a Texas st. Little Lamar can only dream.
-
And I am saying it is a fail formula. Atlanta won't care about Georgia st while they have the Falcons. The same for UTA, Seattle, etc etc. These realignments happening now won't work and we will see some major realignments in a few years among FBS. FCS will not be invited. If Lamar joins the WAC, Lamar will be FBS for next round of realignments. The WAC won't dissolve as a conference. It might end football however an Independent FBS Lamar is better than a FCS Lamar i the SLC. Lamar would only be Independent in football for 2-3 years at most. Finding games won't be as hard now then in the past. And we can keep the rivalry with Mcneese.
-
Cola stop buying into what you read on other forums. Lamar needs to go FBS now because the current realignment will fall apart in a few years. The new conferences won't have any interest in FCS schools.
-
Waiting until the FBS door close. The WAC needs just 1 football school. The WAC owns a FBS ticket. The WAC dies, that ticket dies. Lamar and Texas schools can take control of the WAC and that FBS ticket. Then rebuild it as a FBS regional conference.

What a slap in the face to Lamar. -
I wonder what Roc is thinking.

A very disappointing season with an unacceptable loss to end the season. If the 8th seed can get up for a game, so could our ladies. They didn't. NEXT....

Incarnate Word @ Lamar Game Thread/LAMAR WINS 45-35!
UNLV replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You guys are letting Woodard and his awful staff off the hook. It was not the talent that caused Lamar to struggle, but the coaching. 95% of the plays in the 4th were runs up the middle with little to no gains. It was like Lamar was trying not to score. On defense, the same SFA and USA plays were used on Lamar. The easy crossing route over the middle. Awful coaching. I have no confident this team will win any SLC games. -

Lamar at South Alabama Updates
USA is FBS school with FBS players. They haven't lost a game since starting the program. Big difference in talent level at some spots.
Lamar didn't get whipped based on talent. The offense lacked situation plays. For example, Lamar was confused in the play calling when USA rushed. No counter the rush plays. -

Lamar was out coached. Lamar is too slow to make adjustments if any. USA used the same plays SFA used lasted year. Get a clue Woodard. Your staff is too slow and confused. Bevil wasn't bad in turnovers or scewups, but a better QB would have did a lot better in those situations. Bevil is just not a DI QB. -
As long as Lamar ends up in a FBS conference I don't really care where the Aggies end up.
Lets just hope the B12 rebuild vs dissolving.

SLC Coaches and SIDs don't think too highly of LU Football
UNLV replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You guys don't realize how much talent lost there were to the SLC and SBC as a result of UTSA and Lamar adding football and Texas st moving to FCS. The SLC will be weaker this year compare to last year. Lamar's talent level is high enough to win the SLC. Whether Lamar win or not will be determined by the coaching. -
If the WAC invites Lamar after the football season, that would be a 4 to 1 advantage over the SBC in Texas. Even if the WAC passes on Lamar, there still will be a 3 to 1 huge advantage over the SBC in Texas. The SBC needs to counter the WAC in Texas. At least get it to 3 to 2.
