1. The SLC stupidly decided not to expand. The same foolish mistake the WAC is making. ACU is ready, willing, and able to join.

The NCAA has practically guaranteed the WAC will survive because they can always invite more FCS schools to fill any holes.  I think right now the WAC has a little bit of breathing room so the western schools are stalling to see if they can get some Montana and/or Cali schools to join.  I just think it'll be a lot easier for Lamar to jump conferences once they get into a FBS conference.  If Lamar joins the WAC it's probably going to be a 12 or 14 team conference with divisions so travel won't be that bad.
The Sunbelt has 11 members with 10 playing football. The goal is 12 playing football with national tv championship game. The WAC won't find enough western schools to form a 12 or 14 school conference. The WAC is more likely to fold or become a regional conference with another name. Maybe something like this La Tech UNT ULL Ark st Lamar Texas st UTSA NMST Call it the Big 8 Every school would get 3 money games per year.
I could see something like that happening.  I think La Tech, UTSA, Texas State and NMST would stick together and join up with the western Sun Belt teams if the Sun Belt split in half.  I doubt they would stop at 8 but get 12 football schools although I have no idea where the other 4 would come from.
Start off at 8. As members are added change the name to the Big 8 plus. Future members could be; Missouri st, Wichita st, and maybe eww yuck SHSU...lol.

 4.
The WAC isn't going to crash.  If no western schools join then that leaves room for Lamar, SHSU, and others.  It's just a matter of time before the WAC morphs into a southwest conference.  If Lamar wants to go FBS then they join the WAC, unless there's a major shakeup among the conferences then there's more opportunity for Lamar. A few months ago Tidwell said he thinks there's going to be some major changes coming to the CUSA, Sun Belt and other conferences.  I think there's a good chance that will happen.  Either way, Lamar has a another year or two to prepare for a move to a FBS conference.  It could be the WAC, the Sun Belt, who knows, but it's probably going to happen.
It wasn't long ago I was trying to convince you the WAC wasn't going to crash. I also was the one a year ago screaming the loudest for the WAC. My opinion has did a 180. I'm not sure Lamar should join the WAC. I'm not fully against it, but not for it either. The WAC may be in trouble. Right now the WAC is in panic mode as a result of not adding that stabilizing 8th school. The panic mode scenarios coming out of the WAC are unrealistic and just plain ugly. Things like SAC st only in  football, adding a Dakota school. This would not be a stable situation for Lamar. Maybe it is just panic talk. Maybe they might panic enough to add Lamar this year...lol. Another biggie is the possible break-up of the BCS or BCS leaving the NCAA or dropping the FCS/FBS classification or paying student athletes. Would Lamar need to leave the SLC if any of thess happen? ULM is facing huge budget cuts while with the lowest FBS budget. NCAA is cutting 7 scholarships from ULM football. ULM will never recover from that. They may not have enough to remain FBS. Well that is a door to the SBC.
 5. The Roosters are on there way home to roost in the WAC. Davis and Poly just join the Big West in football. Why would they join the WAC to play La Tech, Tex st, UTSA when they could play regional schools in the Big west. Sac st just joined the big west in soccer. The WAC sponsors soccer. This suggest no Sac st to the WAC. Sac st could day a boat load of money by striking deal like Poly and Davis. That leaves the Montana's and Portland st. Portland st options are the Big West or WAC or remain Big sky. Montana's said a solid no to the WAC. These schools have 2 years to say yes or the WAC crashes. Lamar should stay far away from the WAC.

Many think next years vote by UTSA and Texas st makes Lamar a lock for the WAC, I don't. But lets say it does, then what sense does it make to block Lamar this year and get the conference out of default. Either the WAC is very stupid or there is something big coming to the WAC that does not involve Lamar.
Comes down to timeline... the WAC can not have all these FCS schools playing full league schedules at once. If you bring in Lamar now, you will have LU and UTSA both on the same timeline making a mess of '12 scheduling, since neither could have full WAC schedules... 2012 - TXST counts as FBS, UTSA counts as FCS (Lamar counts as FCS) 2013 - TXST & UTSA count as FBS (Lamar does too) Best bet is Lamar in all sports including football in '13.
If Lamar gets a WAC invite before July 1st for 2013, then Lamar would not need to pay the exit fee to the SLC. If Lamar gets an invite from the WAC after July 1st, then Lamar pays. Hopefully neither happens and the SBC calls up Lamar. Let SHSU go to the WAC.

 11.
UNLV, you have LU in this "new" SLC.  Are you expecting LU to stay FCS for a while?
I don't know cola. Right now, it is not looking good. I don't believe Lamar should sit in the corner waiting on the WAC. 1 year ago today, Lamar had 0 doors to FBS. The last 12 months open a door and Lamar nearly got in. The next 12 months could shut that door. Lamar needs to seek new opportunities. If the WAC comes calling, ok. And if nothing comes up, we need to build up the SLC. Things I will be watching in the coming months that could open a FBS door for Lamar. 1. If the status of the WAC does not change, Lamar may have a shot. 2. ULM 3. BE expansion 4. Big 12 expansion...long shot 5. MWC expansion 6. Sunbelt expansion. All possible in the coming months.

Their football stadium is right on par for SLC standards, playing at Shotwell Stadium. Their baseball stadium is above the level of most SLC stadiums, very similar to the Beck minus the turf. I don't know much about their basketball program. UCO's basketball program has been outstanding of late, LU knows that very well as they were close to hiring their basketball HC.
uco lost to Incarnate Word in football..along with most everyone else they played...
UCO accepted an invite to another DII conference for 2012. I don't know why, they would be perfect fit for the SLC.

 14. Are the SLC schools meeting to discuss expansion. 8 football schools is odd, we need 9 so each football can have 4 home and 4 away. ACU said they are ready, what is the hold up to common sense. West SHSU SFA Lamar UTA AMCC ACU East Mcneese SELA UCA NSU NWST ULM ....maybe...
 15. Before we start ripping each others head off, the WAC won't take us and will use the next 12 months to look for any alternative. Lamar future is in the Southland. The Sunbelt might give us a look.
 16. Wow, congratulations...   cough cough media...
 17. I have several reason for wanting to move up. One of them is old rivalries. I was going to Lamar football games in the late 70's to the end in 1989. And as much as Terror tries to push the Lamar/Sam Houston old buddies crap, SHSU, SFA, Nicholls st were not the schools I saw. So I don't get excited to see SHSU. The only SLC that excite me is Mcneese, an old rival. Idaho or SJSU don't excite me either, but they do at the very least get Lamar name exposed out west, especially if we win. FBS also brings exposure, exposure brings money and growth. Is it worth it? I think so.
far more?
than UL-L
Yes, Nevada was a top 25 team. We can get national exposure playing them. None for playing ULL.

Your opinions are so completely asinine, it is unbelievable. As mentioned on  BRI - you are giving Lamar a very bad name on the message boards with many of your viewpoints posted under the 'Craps' name elsewhere.
Wow, my Idea got Terror skurd Lamar might leave his beloved SLC. Heresy, isn't that right Terror? Stop with the ideas. I think you gave Lamar a bad name by trying to package Lamar and Sam Houston together on every forum. I admit you did get a lot of simple minds to bite, especially a few Lamar fans. But overall it didn't work. I will point out every micro-crack of opportunity for Lamar to leave the SLC. Try to keep up.

Only sports that are not sponsored by the SLC (women's bowling for example) are allowed to be under another conference.
Yeah I know that rule. Rules can be changed or Lamar joins the Summit. So, no, they probably wouldn't bend the rules for Lamar.
The SLC LA schools will lose a lot of money. The SLC maybe desperate to keep Lamar.
