Those should be the 2 new sports. LU already has the swimming facilities and should rent the Butch for hosting.
Is there any facilities in Beaumont that are good enough to host a D1 Softball program? It's not irregular to have an off-campus athletic facility. SFA has their ball programs fields well off campus in a city park.. Both facilities are plenty nice.
Ford is good enough, but Lamar can built it's own field. Lamar has a nice swimming facilities for training, but I would be embarrassed if Lamar tried to host a meet there. Rent the Butch for meets.
UNLV, are you suggesting that Lamar stay in the SLC until they can dominate that league, then make the move?
Are you seriously asking me if Lamar should stay in the SLC? Do a search of the WAC and my post to see how man years I have been saying LU to the WAC.

 5. We need the invite because that football schedule sucks big time. We will lose support on that schedule. Hopefully not too much.
 6.
Wow, never saw that coming. Lamar SHUT DOWN Bose. Great, he's arrogant.
LU played possum the last 5 games. That was the plan.

I heard a rumor the TSUS will deny SHSU move to FBS.
Between posting rumors and your obsession with all things SHSU, one wonders why LU fans post in other forums that no one pays attention to you . . .
All that matters is having you to read my post.
 8. TSUS board would need to approval a move for LU to go FBS. I heard a rumor the TSUS will deny SHSU move to FBS.
 9. The SLC is not a sinking ship. The SLC is more stable than the WAC. If LU leaves, ACU will jump in. That makes for a 10/12 conference. Why does SHSU fear this conference.
 10.
There is already talks with other schools about joining the SLC. I can't remember them right now but it is 3 or 4 schools and I believe they are DII, not sure. I see your point as I wouldn't want Lamar left in the SLC if another school leaves. That would leave only 7 football member schools so they would probably look at a DII school to move up.
Abilene Christian is ready to move to the SLC. According to Terror, LA budgets won't be as bad as we thought. We will not let Txst and Lamar go FBS and us stay FCS. Why would we? In our capital campaign we raised over 61 million dollars in four years in a down economy so money isn't as big of a deal as some may think. If there is a reason to get behind something our alums will pony up the cash. (By the way the goal was 50 miilion in five years) I think our two schools are joined at the hip. Unfortunately, I think Lamar is driving this whole thing. You guys want to jump a lot more than we do. If Lamar wants to go bad enough the Lamar University "big wigs" will make it happen. Yall will jump and (by default) so will we.
According to katfans, Lamar will be jumping off a cliff if we go FBS. Are you saying SHSU will jump off a cliff if LU jumps?: Sounds brainless to me a school not being able to think for itself. SHSU, Lamar's shadow. I mean think about, SHSU can't move on issues until Lamar decides. LOL, losers.

Wow! You missed it! Let me simplify it for you UNLV: For everyone else: We (SHSU) would prefer to stay but may have to adjust our plans contingent upon potential movements in the FBS (Lamar included).
If you prefer to stay FCS, STAY FCS. Do what is best for SHSU. You don't see Lamar letting SHSU lead it around. Why Lamar?   Why not say 'if TX st goes FBS, then SHSU will go. Why link yourself to Lamar. You have more in common with TX st. Lamar played football at the highest level, Tx st has not. Lamar use to be in the Sunbelt, Tx st did not. Lamar is just moving back to a level it was before, Tx st is in new territory. Why not SHSU go attach itself to TX st jock. Get off ours, creepy.

1) Um... You are aware that Texas State is already going to the WAC right? 2) We are doing what is best for SHSU. Being in a diluted SLC while our peers are in a higher (but yet equally weak) conference isn't a good look for our school. 3) Why Lamar? Duh, because Lamar is still in the FCS with us. Don't get me wrong Lamar did play in the SBC (not exactly what you call the "highest" level) but where are you now? 4) SHSU isn’t on anyone’s “jock”. This is Sam Houston State, a school named after Texas’s greatest hero.
So UTSA and Texas st leaving does not dilute the SLC so SHSU does not move up. But if Lamar moves up, then the SLC is diluted. Sounds to me like the SLC is nothing without Lamar.

 15.

This is all pending whether or not we get an invite.  With all the smoke that is out there right now, I don't think anyone knows what to believe.  I think the only thing that we can say with about 95% confidence is that we will go FBS in the next 5 years for sure.
LU can only go FBS if they are invited by a FBS conference.  LU does not control that.  They cannot set a timetable and then execute it because Dr. Simmons/B Tubbs/L Tidwell do not control if and when they will get an invite.  With all the flux going on, I can't see if being a bad deal to take the WAC offer now.  If an opening in another conference that would be better for LU came up, they could move then and it would be better because they would already be FBS qualified instead of moving up from FCS at that time.  My opinion!
I expect to see a lot of work start going on around W.U.S very soon, especially if they think this mood will be made. If their first season in the WAC is 2012, they were have to of already had the stadium expanded by that point.
No, Lamar does not NEED the stadium expanded by 2012 if LU goes FBS in 2012. It would be for the better if Lamar expanded for 2012, but not NEEDED. Idaho uses a 16,000 dome for FBS.
 16.
UNLV...if the WAC "NEEDED" an 8th football school, and Lamar was the ONLY option they had, then this would all be a moot point.  It's not that simple, and you're ignoring obvious hurdles that have prevented this move from happening so far.
It is that simple. The WAC needs Lamar as much as Lamar needs the WAC. The only thing that will stop Lamar from joining the WAC would be a better offer from a FBS conference.
 17. The WAC "NEEDS" an 8th football school. Lamar is the only football school in the "join the WAC" line.
 18.
Fox 4 said  that "Lamar has talked to the WAC officials and it does not look like they are going to join this year."
Fox maybe playing with words. Ofcourse LU won't join the WAC this year, LU would join in 2012.
 19.
I do think we have a leg up on SHSU because we already do have a lot of facilities in place that SHSU does not have.  That is not to say that we don't still need to upgrade.  It is looking more and more like we either have not gotten an invite, joined but with strings attached, or not joined and inquired about joining later.  I am not sure how this scenario is playing out currently, as it does look like we have actually talked to the WAC.  From what it looks like we are not committing this year for sure. Thoughts?
First, LU can not just join the WAC like joining a pick up game of basketball. LU would need a few approvals like the TSU. Second, why is LU allowing these rumors to spread. Kill it if LU is not joining the WAC. LU is not killing it. I wanted the announcement yesterday, however a delay is not a reason to think LU is not joining. We got Feb. and all of March.
 20.
I'm beginning to get worn down by all these rumors and "inside" sources.  One day it's a "definite yes" that Lamar will join the WAC, the next it's "no way!".  Then it's rumored the invite will be in April, no, next week, no wait, in 30 to 60 days.  I'm ready for Dr. Simmons to say yes or no already.
Relax, you will soon see Larry B. Scott photo on every sports web page soon.
 21.
I actually believe Lamar is ready to make the move.  Especially with the money backers and community support that LU is getting.  I am not as sure about SHSU.  Even if they are able to get the money together for the facility upgrades and extra sports they will have to support (which I think is very possible they can get the money), I am not sure they can meet the 15K attendance requirement. But, then again maybe they can with the texas rivals coming to town. Thoughts anyone?
Sammie is not going FBS. The second team is Seattle or ULL or UNT. I say the WAC needs to invite LU only, then take a wait and see what happens to the BIG 12. LU makes 8 FBS teams, unless another football team wants to join. Just hold off on the basketball schools.
 22. I LU needs to get the system approval. We also need SHSU to approve a move to FBS.
 23.
[Hidden Content] What is La. Tech so high and mighty about.  We have a bigger endowment, more students, and similar athletic budget.  I don't get what makes them think they are so good.
In a post a few weeks ago they call us tiny Lamar.
