He's been such for 17 years, so evidently he's smart enough
When Benson took over, there was no Mountain West Conference.
 2. Good for Woodard. He is now starting to show leadership. If he keeps his foot on their necks, LU will be fine.
 3. UTSA could regret this move. Benson is not a very smart Conference leader.
 4.
Lets compare apples to apples.  Lamar at GSU two first year programs against each other.  Total offense from that game was LAMAR 357 GSU 322.  Penalties LAMAR 5 - 45 GSU 8 - 65.  3rd down conversions LAMAR 6 - 14  42%  GSU 7 - 15 46% . TURNOVERS were even at 1.  LAMAR loses the game by 6. NOTHING in those stats say that LAMAR coaches are in over there heads.
The stats 2 weeks ago had the Dallas Cowboys a top 5 NFL team.
 5. We must give them 2-3 years to score a rushing TD.
 6. Was Bevil this bad while playing JUCO?
 7.
I believe some of you have lost your marbles if you thought LU would dominate in football this year. I agree there is plenty of room for improvement but already questioning the coaching...are you serious??? You can have the best of players but until you play some games....you do not know if you have a team. Give the coach a couple of seasons before you start your conspiracy theories.
Can you post proof of anyone saying LU would dominate in football this year?
 8.
To think that the coaches are in over their heads is kind of crazy. A winning program doesn't come over night, everyone on here knows that and I think is just frustrated because they want to win games. Lamar surprised me a bit this season with their early play and the impressive come from behind win at Southeastern, but the physical nature of football is going to take a toll on teams. Established teams have the "backbone" in place that helps sustain the team when injuries hit. A first year program is going to find it much tougher sledding when injuries happen because there is nothing to fall back on as far as depth in recruiting. Lamar signed a small class in Woodard's first year and then a full class last year. I think this staff has found talent and signed some talent, but not every player you identify is going to sign with you and not every player is going to continue to develop into a better player once they get on campus. Give this staff more than one season on the field before you give up and think they are in over their heads.
Ga st showed different looks, mixed up the pl?ays, and kept LU off balance. LU did none of those things. Did it take Ga st 2-3 years?  You do know Ga st is a first year program too?
 9. I doubt anyone will get fired, however I do want to see fire at Woodards feet.
 10. Yes, way over their heads. I am now thinking Woodard was a mistake. He is showing no leadership, no team discipline, and no creativity. I didn't expect Lamar to win much this year, but I did expect steady improvement with something to look forward too next year. This team is not showing improvement, no heart, NOTHING to get excited about for next year. Lamar has a talent defense but ran with simple jr high schemes. LU offense runs 5 plays, 4 passes and 1 run. The most simple offense in all college football.
 11. Prewitt looks like he can be a good DI QB, However the LU coaching staff is lost. Woodard may have been a mistake.
 12.
and based on what Coach Tubbs said in his interview at the SHSU game I believe we might be really looking close at the Sunbelt. Its interesting that we are winning Southland conference titles lately - womens BB, Mens Baseball, now mens cross country,..maybe the mens BB will be at least co-champs again. I think its time to really place ourselves in a better conference. The Southland wont be the same in a few years and we need to move on.
We may have no choice. The WAC adding Seattle, Denver, UTSA, and Texas st is still a very unstable situation. LA tech still wants out even with the addition of UTSA and Texas st. Benson is an idiot. PERIOD. Terror, ULM will need to make huge cuts. The school is half the size of SHSU, yet it plays FBS. Do the math.
 13.
Another rumor is TCU leaving for the Big East, then the MWC would grab another WAC team.  I think the MWC will eventually be filled with mostly old WAC schools while the WAC gets filled up with ex-SLC schools.  I think the Sun Belt needs to do something because football-wise they seem to be stagnant.
Nah, I think the MWC had enough Wac-ing. I think they will look to CUSA to replace TCU and maybe Air Force. Maybe Houston and SMU.  Or UNT.
 14.
Speaking of UNLV's thoughts on SBC expansion...
Waters said that if Denver does indeed leave, the league will put no pressure on itself to immediately add a member. If Denver does in fact leave, the league will feature 11 teams rather than 12 for men’s and women’s basketball. “I think you’ll hear a lot of speculation about what we should do, but the reality is that 11 is a number that works,” he said. “The Big Ten was 11 for a long time, the ACC was nine for a long time. We’ll go very slow and because of the things we did in 2000, 2004 and that time period – we will be able to go slow and look for somebody who does bring incredible value to the league.”
[Hidden Content]
Bull. The Sunbelt might lose UALR and ULM in the next 18 months. The Sunbelt will not stay 11 or 9. They just won't admit to looking for new members.
 15.
Word must travel slow to Las Vegas... you dealing at the craps table UNLV? Lots of changes coming in the 'west'. The WAC news actually came after the big news regarding the Summit League, Big Sky and Great West... you excited about the changes for Southern Utah, UND and USD?
I didn't mention those changes because I didn't think anyone here cared. duh... Southern Utah, UND, and USD going Big swky are good moves for those schools. Does anyone on this forum care? The WAC not building a division around tech is a boneheaded move by Benson. The Sunbelt becomes a more attractive conference than the WAC for Lamar.
 16. The word is Denver is joining the WAC along with Texas st and UTSA. This will leave the Sunbelt at 11 teams. Should Tidwell be on the phone with the Sunbelt? I'm sure Georgia st will.
 17. It was a mistake to drop football and drop down to the SLC....FACT. It would be a mistake not to return football and move up out of the SLC. Just correcting 2 mistakes. What is wrong with that?
 18.

Look i'm not down on the staff but, we have played 7 games now and do not seem to make any corrections. Its the same week after week. Playing kids in positions that are not helping the team, 4-2-5 defense where we generate NO PRESSURE on ANY QB and leave the middle open for the run, and offense well line can't run block, every play there is someone unblocked pass or run, Bevil needs to be COACHED a lot more on decision making or let someone else try all they can do is throw a couple picks per game and funble 2 ...... Where is the COACHING ?  Lets try and change something this week we are off, please.......
Really? ITS THEIR FIRST YEAR Einstein................
But they are not showing any improvement. There is nothing to get excited about for next year.

I've looked at their board..havent seen anything like that
I'm curious, did you mean Pootie Tang?

We had an obnoxious SFA fan, but aren't they all?
Not today. It was a while back when I first mentioned the WAC. It turned out the katfan was a black guy who ripped him a new one. Now he was on the USA forum doing the same.
