2.
isn't this the case pretty much every year?  "great" recruiting classes that either don't materialize, or the players come and underperform.  I'm with Lumber... i'll believe it when i see it.
No, lets not pretend LU was SLC co-champs under Roc. Injuries hurt his teams mostly. Roc coaching has improved.
 3. Terror and katfans are steaming over this class. hehe. Any bets SHSU come in last place this season?
 4. Not with the class that is coming in. Too bad Kentucky.
Where would they go? Where would Tech go? Tech at one time was the number 1 for CUSA. Not any more. UNT, MTSU, and UTSA is in front of them. Maybe TSU and LU. Tech has big money problems.
And I'll give you two guesses where their money problems came from?  No, not the State of Louisiana's cut backs.  Although no Tech fan will ever admit it, travel costs to those far flung areas of the West have probably taken their toll.  Think about the non-revenue sports like baseball, softball, soccer and probably basketball.  It's a long way to Fresno, Boise State, San Jose, and Hawaii.
Yep, now add the huge budget cuts.
I can see both La Tech and New Mexico State looking for a conference closer to Texas.  The Sun Belt is far flung and some of those teams may just leave, especially the 2 Florida schools.  I think we'll see a big shakeup of the WAC, Sun Belt and CUSA with a lot of teams like LU, UTSA, Texas State, etc. moving up.
Tech is hardcore about never joining the Sunbelt. I guess we will see if they blink next month.

 9.
great read wow Barry Switzer was offered the job?? Crazy!!
Yep, Rita delayed starting football so we missed out on Barry because of Rita.
 10. Word is Boise st/MWC is a done deal. The WAC will not have enough football members for a championship game. The WAC needs a temporary school member to play in BSU spot in 2 years. Who will it be?  LU should make a special deal for temporary membership. This would help LU get in a better conference when the great realignment comes.
 11.
yea LAMAR shouldn't be to picky plus the WAC is alot better then the SunBelt
Today the WAC is better, maybe not so in the future after the MWC raid the WAC of it's best members.
 12. In a recent interview, WAC commissioner Karl Benson discussed the topic of conference realignment and possible WAC expansion. Some highlights: * Boise St. has been open with the WAC about it's desire to join the MWC * The WAC and Louisiana Tech have an understanding: LA Tech would prefer to be in CUSA or an eastern conference, the WAC would be fine if they left. The problem is that CUSA doesn't want LA Tech right now and  LA Tech is less interested in the Sunbelt. * There are "4-5 schools" that are interested in joining the WAC. Those potential schools could include the various Texas schools that have considered upgrades (Texas St., UTSA, Lamar) as well as Portland St., Cal Poly, UC Davis, Sacramento St. and Montana. 13. Lamar is in a tough position. Lamar can't move to fast and end up joining a sinking ship conference or move too slow to miss the boat. This will be Tubbs most difficult task as LU's AD. Lets hope he hit it out the park.
 14. If the MWC wants Boise State’s performance in the 2008-10 seasons to be included in the formula that determines whether the MWC receives an automatic BCS bid for the next cycle of games — and it sure as heck does — then the Broncos must be a member of the MWC in 2011. And for them to be a member in 2011, they must be invited by July 1, 2010 [Hidden Content] The WAC losing Boise st next month would leave the WAC with 8 schools. California schools are in no position to fill the void. Nothing out west could fill the void. A few years ago I would have screamed for LU to join Tech in the WAC. But now, with the possibility of the MWC taking more WAC members, the WAC may be dead or not worth joining.
 15. Not a chance any of the SLC schools get closed. It would send those communities into an economic train wreck, which would hurt the state more than the savings from closing. Most likely cuts in programs and athletics will likely hit the SLC schools. Maybe DIII for Mcneese. The Black schools and much smaller schools could get closed. And lets not ignore Lamar must cut $14 million from it's budget. A major pain, but LU can afford it.
 16.
Well deserved!!!! Here's to hoping that we can go back-to-back!!!!  :D
We will be better this year.
You have been hanging around Terror too long on katfans. There was talk of Rice dropping football. SMU is in no position to demand anything. La Tech is smaller than LU and is in a much smaller market. Tech sits 30 miles from LA-monroe and 10 miles from Grambling annnnnnnnnnnd is in a struggling state looking to cut money to universities. Do the math mffl. Rice, SMU, and Tech is not UT, OU, and LSU. I think you are too young to remember when it LU and Tech....
SMU just won a bowl game, they got some money from that.
True, but when the MWC, Big 12, and/or Big east raid CUSA, SMU won't be a school that gets the call.
But you're right I am too young to remember the glory days of Karl Malone vs. the Cards.
Karl Malone vs James Gulley Any new Conference LU joins should be with Tech. Because neither LU or La Tech has not been able to find that magical rivalry with other schools then the two schools found with each other.

 20. I just checked out katfans. Terror and his naive katfans continue to tie Lamar FBS to SHSU and now SFA. That is if LU moves up, so will 2,000 at a home game SHSU and SFA. But if they don't, LU can not. SFA is a good FCS and a nice FCS market, SFA is not moving up. 2,000 at a home game, SHSU is certainly not moving up. I think CUSA will break up after big east and mwc raid them. Remaining members will join Sunbelt eastern teams to form a east coast conference. Remaining Sunbelt teams will form a conference with LU. LA tech ULL Texas st UNT Ark st LU SMU Tulane  UTSA Rice  UTA -non football UALR-non football Non football members allow for fewer conference football games and more pay off games.
 21. No reason why the upper deck couldn't hang over the feeder road. It is an upper deck. And enough room on the east side for an upper deck. I would put a few consessions at the top of the upper deck so you dont have to miss the game.
 22.
Very good coach.  I like your your art work.  I also have to give Simmons and Tubbs credit.  They are the most ambitious and forward thinkers that Lamar has had in my 32 years of being a student and fan of LU.  What a breath of fresh air!!!!!!!!!  To heck with all the naysayers that try to hold Lamar back with their negative and small thinking.  Lamar is not going to "win the lottery" and then be able to do big things.  It will only happen with planning, hard work, and an ambitious vision to move to the next level.  Kudos to Simmons and Tubbs for having the Kahuna's to move LU forward.  It can happen here at Lamar and here in Beaumont!
Tubbs and Simmons are so unlike many in this area, especially Jefferson County leaders.
 23. There is only 8 guys on the field for the blue team. I hope LU don't use that style. And why not add suites to the left and right of the suites in the imagine. More suites, more money....
Maybe we are in that parrallel universe whereas it just so happen to turn out that way.
 25. What about that Jamie Canty, 7'1". Yes, no offensive skills but I bet he can slow down the scoring of LU's opponent.
