  1. I still see a link between Lamar playing IA and a huge drop in attendance after LU joined IAA. Fans here see IAA-FCS as jv ball.
  2. Forget Bob West. He was part of the problem back then. BTW, I saw Nicholls st bus going up Calder today. Anyone knows why?
  3. I keep telling myself LU has a very good reason to be so secretive...This is frustrating.
  4. LU could do something like UH plans. Instead of classrooms, this could be the back of the new fieldhouse with added seating to horseshoe and suites on top.
  5. I just heard on the news that the new Amelia elementary schools will cost $19 million. After fieldhouse cost, LU will spend that much on the stadium. A whole school vs cosmetics to the stadium for the same amount.
  6. Former NBA star Isiah Thomas will go from coaching the New York Knicks to Florida International University. [Hidden Content]
  7. LU has been doing this and similar situations all season.
  8. Can't we get an explanation why we can't get any updates. I believe they are scaling back on the original plans.
  9. Ease up did you see the pitches, that was Rice's true closer not exactly a push over and they brought him in the 8th. Lamar attempted a bunt with 0 outs and a runner at 2nd but couldn't get it down. That closer has 32 K's in 29 innings. Choke come on give me a break LU rallied from a 7 run deficit against the 3rd ranked team in the nation the same team that strummed Sam last night and has wins over UCLA, A&M, UT, Baylor and they're on a 8 game win streak right now. Time to regroup. I just talked to G and I can tell you this one hurts he really wanted this one but this weekend's series is more important. But when it came down to hitting the ball 1 time, even if it was ground out, LU choked. Unacceptable unless LU goal is to end the season in the SLC and leave the post season to the teams that could.
  10. LU CHOKES AGAIN... 1 man on second, 0 outs, bottom 9th... next 3 LU batters strike out. No bunt, no hits, nothing, strike strike strike 3 times...
  11. Did those excuses stop Houston from growing? NO. Houston is only 3 years older than Beaumont. The mindset is different. Any Entrepreneur goes to Houston or lets use a city in similar size, Amarillo, is met with open arms and a tax base willing to partner up to create jobs and opportunity. Try that in SETX and you are met with the "why are you trying to change our way of life NOWAY do it somewhere's else" mentality. Lamar's main campus population plateaued at 10,000 in 1970. It hasn't grown much since then as it is currently 10,500. Why? poor leadership at Lamar and in an area with an inferior mentality. That's the truth, take it or leave it. The good news is Dr Simmons doesn't think that way and a few SETX cities elected officials are no longer thinking that way. You can look around and see the difference at Lamar and in Beaumont from 10, 20, 30, and 40 years ago.
  12. It's a pipedream that I'll ever be richer than Bill Gates, but that does not mean I need to go get a Section 8 apt and be happy with that. Neither should Lamar. This area's(SETX) mentallity has been this way for 50 years, which would explain the 0 population growth for 50 years and Lamar's 0 population growth for 40 years. Dr Simmons has broken the cycle with school growth and improvements. He must continue by not falling into the pipe dream mentallity so embraced by SETX.
  13. Lamar needs to stop playing around and put up big bucks if Roc leaves. And I wouldn't lose respect for Roc if he did. Especially if he could help LU even as an assistant coach at Kentucky. He could push players not at Kentucky's level and above SLC level to Lamar. BTW, lets not forget Billy Gillispie is out of a job. Memphis or UTEP could pick him up before Marlin or even Roc. Lamar needs to figure out a way to raise money to make an offer to Billy Gillispie if Roc leaves. Don't laugh, money talks. Billy Gillispie name could bring in recruits several levels higher than the SLC making him SLC champs in the first or second year. Then if he could win a few games in the dance, this would put him back on top for a big name job. 4 years at best at LU, Billy Gillispie benefit, LU benefit, it works out for all.
  14. Of course, that last victory was preceded by a few SHSU wins over LU - including wins when the Kats were a lower classification than the Cards. UNLV - whatcha going to do if LU loses to Langston? Or one of those other sub-Div I teams, something that was a bit of tradition during their last tenure in SETX? LU might lose a few games the first year, maybe as many as 4, but I know none of the 4 loses will be to SHSU.
  15. Nah, this is not a UNLV team that has more entertainment in the stands (especially when Hawaii visits or vice-versa) than on the field. Of course, you must have some great vision to see what kind of talent each will have in 2010... It's SHSU, this team is beaten by everyone. LU last football beat SHSU 48-0.
  16. SHSU should be an easy win for LU. Woodard should play all ther back-ups.
  17. Oh I'm dying, I again agree with Terror. These schools are losing pennies compared to what they will gain.
  18. UNLV, if you've been reading for awhile, LU's old standard would not have allowed him in nor LUPA's. Oh dang.
