  1. Lamar new standard might not allow him to go to Lamar.
  2. I think you're being way too optimistic. Lamar's admission standards are still low compared to a lot of universities in the state. I don't know where you are getting that $80 million figure for research because right now it's around $8 million. I think Lamar is currently Tier 4, maybe Tier 3, so it's going to take a long time (if ever) for Lamar to reach Tier 1 status. What? Do you think I just make this stuff up. It was reported in the news 2-3 years ago. Also you can't expect LU to raise its standard to Tier 1 over night. It'll take a few years. I think Lamar is being moved to Tier 1 because Lamar takes its name from the Father of Texas Education. Now I don't have time to do deep research, but like I said it was in the news a few years ago. They didn't say Tier 1, but they did say $80 million per year.
  3. 3 Texas schools are in the works to become Tier 1. Texas Tech and UH are 2. I still think the clues point to Lamar being the 3rd. Lamar raising it's standard and Lamar becoming a $80 million a year research University.
  4. The economy here is feeling a slight pull down, however our economy in SETX is steaming along at a good rate. I have to say Lamar changing face is behind students staying more than the economy. I think along with Lamar's higher entrance standard, a community college is needed for those unable to meet Lamar higher standards.
  5. There was this skit with Obama and Bush. Obama said to Bush, "We got into this mess by you spending money we don't have." Bush said, "How do you fix it." Obama says, "By spending more money we don't have."
  6. Men’s tennis and volleyball bore the brunt of the NCAA penalties. Volleyball lost three scholarships off its allotment of 12 for the next two years and will be barred from the postseason this coming year. Tennis lost a full scholarship for the next three seasons from the 4.5 it is allowed and will be banned from postseason participation next year. A&M-Corpus Christi had requested only half a scholarship loss for men’s tennis. Men’s basketball faced additional recruiting restrictions, stemming from 92 impermissible phone calls placed by assistant coach Kevin Norris to recruits from October 2007 through February 2008 and giving free transportation and housing to prospective player Thijin Moses from Jan. 29, 2008, through Feb. 7, 2008. In addition to recruiting restrictions self-imposed this past fall, the NCAA mandated that the basketball staff not make contact with recruits for one week this fall. [Hidden Content]
  7. Billy Gillispie won't be returning as Kentucky's coach, according to a Louisville station. ESPN has not posted it if true.
  8. Well Appalachian st better stop playing and beating those big name schools before their football gets canceled. Good grief... UT will have better skills players than LU, not indestructable cyborgs. Anyone could get hurt at anytime.
  9. UT players are more likely to get hurt. And no one will get demoralized after 1 game no one expects LU to win. 2012 Texas A&M vs Lamar @ Reliant Stadium 2013 UT vs Lamar @ Reliant Stadium 2014 LSU vs Lamar @ Reliant Stadium 2015 OU vs Lamar @ Reliant Stadium 2016 ND vs Lamar @ Reliant Stadium....ok, this one is too much. lol
  10. These teams also won't be much of a threat to UT.
  11. WHOA...we agree. Must be snowing in hell.
  12. The big name would have to be a weak team. UT will not risk a NC by losing in Houston so a sacrafice is needed....LU.
  13. Nooooo... UT playing Houston Community college would attract a big crowd, so why not LU. Yes UT vs LSU would be a fan preference, but that'll never happen. LU needs to go FBS before it happens.
  14. Texas Tech, Baylor moving games to Dallas area News KBMT Story Created: Mar 25, 2009 at 2:30 PM CDT (Story Updated: Mar 25, 2009 at 2:30 PM CDT ) LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Texas Tech and Baylor are moving their next two football games to the Dallas area, starting this season at the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium. [Hidden Content] Now we know LU could never get a home-n-home with a big 12 school. I doubt we could get an away-away-away-away-home-away-away-away. However I bet LU could get a neutral game site with OU, UT, LSU, or A&M in Houston at Reliant. Those schools could get in personal exposure in Houston, clobber LU for Houston area recruits to enjoy, it can count as an away game. LU can win by making it an annual game with a big name school in Houston Reliant. This could give LU great exposure even if LU's loses. This exposure will give LU an edge on the TSU, SHSU, and Mcneeses in recruiting.
  15. Why didn't coach change pitchers. It was clearly obvious he was getting weaker and figured out. Everyone for 2 innings, except 1 guy, hit his balls. C'mon coach, you use to be smarter than that...
  16. To be FBS today, you need to average 15k. So far the NCAA has not enforced that rule because a lot of FBS would be booted out. Many conferences would be ripped apart; Sunbelt, WAC, CUSA.... BTW, on wiki it is showing on the SLC page UTSA is a football school playing in a 65,000 Alamo Dome while Lamar has no stadium and is a no-football school. Talk about no respect.
  17. No, having someone around who is jeolous of Lamar is like having a pretty girl on your arm that all the men want.
  18. It was not a LU thing - it was a general thing and how wins over BCS squads in any sport (regardless of how good/bad they are) gets much more attention for those sports than conference wins. SLC fans, Big South fans, SWAC fans, OVC fans, they are all the same... Sure it was. You belittle WV to lessen LU's win. It shows you are jeolous of LU.
  19. He just can't let LU be. Just obsessed..
  20. BISD will have a smaller lower deck but a bigger upper deck. BISD stadium is a good average SLC stadium. This is why LU must expand now or LU will establish itself as a fancy high schoolish football program. LU must always be a few steps higher than high school or we will see the 1980's all over again. LU CAN NOT have anyone saying BISD stadium is equal or better than LU stadium. If that happens, LU football becomes a joke in the community.
  21. It's just not adding up. BISD is doing this for $30 million which includes a natatorium and field house. Lamar is not building from the ground up so why is LU plans so much less for only $4 million less. If you use coach's numbers on the BISD plan, assuming the natatorium and field house cost $7.5 million, then BISD only have $6 million to build 2 double deck seating stands. Do you see my point?
