  1. Someone with the shock value to get community support. The key to Lamar football succeeding is winning and community support. I wanted a bigger stadium over VIP , I still prefer both. A bigger stadium means more fans in the stands. If Lamar football had never stopped, the Woodard choice would be ok. However this is a restart of a failed program. A chance to make a new impression on SETX. A chance to forget the last 30 years. There must be a big bang to get the program going. Foot to the floor spinning your wheels, a full can of lighter fluid on your charcoal, a nuke, something big to start the program. Afterward, then you start throttling down to something more realistic and at Lamar's level. Woodard can takeover after the big bang. He will then have the experience at this level and acceptance by the community the way Roc was accepted. We need the big bang start, something that will have all of SETX talking. Woodard will only have people saying Who and Why. :'( The dreamer. First of all, you can't have a big stadium if you don't have the money to build it. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Second, you say you want a big name coach that will give us a " big bang start ". But what big name coach has applied or has asked for the job? Simple, no one. At least, not the big name guys you are looking for. You go ahead and stay in lala land, UNLV. The rest of us will wallow in reality. I have a good feeling that the Lamar higher ups know what they are doing and what they have to work with to get it done. 2. Mffl, you don't understand. It's not his coaching skills that bother me. We have a small window to grab SETX attention and hearts. If the area reacts Who? Why? Is this the best we can do? Same old Lamar. Its over. SETX fans want instant success and wow now. Think of that show "Showtime at the Apollo", once you hear that first boo...Its over.

  4. Stump would be better in getting community support. I have nothing against Woodard. I would support him being assistant then taking over in year 3. I didn't like any of the 11 names on the list, however I think there were better choices on that list. I want to support Woodard, I want to get pumped, I want to get in Terror's head and stomp, I waited for this day since 1989, but I am scared for Lamar. The community will not rally around Woodard. There will be endless questions about is qualifications and charges of Lamar doing the program any kind of way. Once we get pass the Who is Woodard, then the Why Woodard? If Woodard doesn't accomplish anything short of super amazing, Lamar football will flop. No FBS, No huge crowds, No real revenue for Lamar. I loved the Gilbert hire, I loved the Tidwell hire, I loved the Roc hire, I am scared for Lamar on this hire...
  5. The choice dont make sense to me.
  6. What the heck? Lamar went from 9th to 22....+32
  7. tubbs has said that this area will only support fbs over the long haul.it will support fcs for a while but moving up would be the goal of lu football.he also said we would start fcs and the succes and fan support would determine the move. Then no FBS at Lamar because we will not average enough fans with FCS and the coach selection will make it worse. fans wont be a problem for the several years. Depends, a cupcake schedule with a 8-3 record the first year, then fans will stick around for another year. Unknown coach not from the area, no FBS plan, 2-9 record...Then the same old Lamar song from fans. Football fail again.

  9. Barry or RC...or Jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmy. We won't make more than a side note on ESPN with Ray or Craig.
  10. I'm not doubting you, I was just curious when he said those things and under what context. And I believe he's building up the athletic department so those things can be possible for Lamar in 5 or 10 years. He said it when he was coaching the basketball team. Things change, the WAC is out of the question. However SETX will still not support I-AA/FCS.
  11. No I'm not getting a link. You either take my word or not. There is no million dollars for me to lie. Billy Tubbs said those things. Barry Switzer, I-A, and the WAC, ofcourse things can change but he did say it.
  12. Oh yes he did. He said Barry agreed to do it if the perks were right. He also said SETX would not support I-AA. And Lamar joining the WAC.
  13. This guy might be the best football mind every. However he won't fill the stadium. Lamar needs a full stadium first.
  14. He is laughing at us. I liked it better when I laughed at SHSU.
  15. Lamar is starting a football program after killing it 20 years ago. Lamar chooses a high school coach to restart the program. Lamar choose a JUCO coach to restart the program. It doesn't sound right.
  16. I don't. A "who?" coach will be a flop.
  17. Lamar will not average more than 10,000 if Lamar doesn't bring in a big name. Only 1 time to get community excited and on board. Its like a freight train. 2 small U-18 engines will not get 150 cars up to 60 mph. You need the big Dash 9's. If the train was already going 60 mph, then the U-18's could maintain that speed. Lamar needs a big engine to get the program up to speed first, then bring in a Stump or Woodard.
  18. Us hard core fans will support who ever is picked. However our population is not big enough to fill Buna's high school stadium. We need a name that will grab the attention of all +400,000 people of this metro.
  19. I hate the waiting too. But let them choose the right person.
  20. I doubt its money keeping JJ away, more like ego. I'm too big for Lamar. He will regret when he retires from Fox. UNLV, I can't determine if you are serious about this JJ thing or not? No, I don't think JJ is coming.
