  1. Like everyone else, I have heard that Fran took a look. Have not heard that R. C. has any interest in the Lamar job. I think R.C. took a look too. Wasn't he in Beaumont playing golf with Tubbs several weeks ago?
  2. If RC Slocum or Fran is happy that neither will ever coach college football again, then West is right. However if either one of those guys every wants to coach again, they better take the Lamar job if offered.
  3. Today? You again show how much you do not know. All future members of the SBC must play FBS football. Lamar does not. Simple as that. Five years from now, Lamar still will not have FBS. South Alabama will not be FBS til 2013. That's five years from now. Lamar starts their playing a year after South Alabama. The earliest for Lamar would be 2014, six years from now. The earliest Lamar could be accepted into the SBC was 2014 unless because Lamar is committed to FBS football (again, we won't know much there based on the moratorium), that they would accept them. I'm afraid Billy Tubbs does not run the NCAA... Okay UNLV, your turn again to put some more bad information out there... First, you don't know where will be in 5 years. We might go FBS in year 3 of football, while SHSU remain FCS. Second, I could careless if you think the Sunbelt is not willing to take Lamar back because the Sunbelt is probably not Lamar's target conference.
  4. Terror, the Sunbelt would welcome Lamar back today or in 5 years or whenever. I like Stump too. He has the football brain, hungry, and he is young. However he don't have the name. I like to see a big name start the program with Stump as OC, then pass Stump the Head Coach job for the 2014 season. I want to see a repeat of the Tubbs/Roc in football. In 2 years Roc has LU Co-champs.
  5. I would do it for Lamar. Arkansas is not his home. He needs to give back. He can have the OC and DC do all the work. He only needs to show up for the games. THATS IT. JIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY, C'MON JIMMY... Do it for your home. 5 years Jimmy, then you can go. Just give us 5 Jimmy, 5, 60 months, don't regret it when your 80 years old. Do it for the challenge, for the fun of seeing if you can make a winner in Lamar. You will make your home extra proud of you. And make Terror head explode, wouldn't that be fun to watch. Jimmy we need you.
  6. Jimmy Johnson needs to stop playing, that ain't funny. He need to take the job and hire an assistant to do the work.
  7. Must be a blue-moon, I agree with Terror. Not a list that makes me go wow, unless I was being sarcastic.
  8. Yeah, I doubt the horseshoe too but that doesn't mean its not best. The first year of football will have a very high demand. 17,500 seat will not be enough. Fans wanting to go but can't will get ticked off and give up. Too attract fans, you must give them something to say wow. The stadium must give a big time football feel. Painting the stadium, re-building the fieldhouse, turf, and maybe some suites for the rich only crowd at a 1962 stadium is not enough.
  9. I would pass on him. Kennan has a much better football mind. I still prefer Switzer if we can't get hell to freeze over for Jimmy.
  10. Lamar needs to horseshoe the stadium. Anything less will chap-my-hide.
  11. When Tubbs speak, SLC obey. Wednesday/Thursday, have you forgot.
  12. Lamar should make extra money with a higher attendance.
  13. Terror, Lamar will play a full slc schedule the first year. Hopefully SHSU comes to Beaumont first.
  14. You're never to old to be a figure head. Same with Jimmy Johnson, I'll take him as a part time coach. It's not like he will have to do game plans for 2 years. He doesn't have to go out to recruit, his assistants can sit back and watch the recruits come to them. Then come 2010, he still could allow assistants to do all the game plans. So yes, I'll take JJ part time to start up the program.
  15. No, I'm not confronting you on this. I think its a weak excuse in this case. Someone like Barry could get the program on the right track so a young OC can take over. Just like Tubbs and Roc. Why can't Jimmy do it for us. He can keep his TV job. Just for 5 years, not forever.
  16. Lamar would not win the SLC their first year...they'd be lucky to get two wins in the conference if they played a full schedule. The week in and week out of the SLC is brutal, I do not think a young team would be able to deal with it on a week to week basis. This is not pee-wee football. The only thing the SLC is brutal in is being a lower tier conference. Lamar goes .500 or better in the slc the first year. You heard it here first.
  17. 70 is not too old. How old was Reagan? We are talking a 5 year job at the most.
  18. What if Lamar wins the SLC the first year. I could see Terror exploding...lol.
  19. SHSU is above and beyond many Div I schools at the FCS level -- Lamar is truly not going to have a better facility than 100% of HS stadiums in the state of Texas by any stretch of the imagination. SHSU has continued to upgrade the facility. What will Lamar do when they show their hand? They may upgrade to one of the best in the conference (doubt they will be #1), but even then, it will be behind someone somewhere in Texas... All speculation. We will see when the plans are released. Do you like your Crow fried or steamed...
  20. Larry Kennan and OC Craig Stumps would be beyond super. Kennan seem to have the best football mind of the mentioned canidates, however he don't have the name recognition that would get the best recruits possible AND steal the better recruits away from SHSU, SFA, & McNeese.
  21. UNLV, give us a breakdown of SLC stadiums since you like talking Southland stadiums...where does SHSU stand as far as conference stadiums? What do you think of Strawberry Stadium? Turpin? "The Hole"? Also, what do you think of other FCS stadiums around the nation? Have you seen New Hampshire's in comparison to Kidd Brewer Stadium at Appalachian State? Or what about Wash-Griz Stadium in Montana with the old New York Times Square video board in comparison to Texas Southern? There's a wide, wide range...but you wouldn't know about that... SHSU stadium is less than a high school stadium and you have no problem with it. Thats find with me. I care about LU plans, not other FCS or SLC stadiums. I was at SHSU's stadium back in November for a HS playoff game and it's not a bad stadium. It seats about 14,000 and has a nice turf and video scoreboard. I know you like to give Texas Terror a hard time UNLV but their stadium is better than 99.9% of the HS stadiums out there. The Berry Center might be nicer but I haven't been there. The new Round Rock ISD stadium is also a nice stadium with a big video scoreboard and field turf. It's a DI college, it should be better than 100% of high school. SHSU needs to keep up with other DI schools.

  23. I'm surprised PHP is used for HS football games...still have not confirmed it out of that page you provided. SHSU continues to upgrade their facility as it's much more cost efficient for our institution and is not needed (like our new baseball/softball complex was) to be build a new one. In the last few years, we've added a video/scoreboard, some suites and constant upgrades to the track and field facility, which unlike Lamar, allows it to be suitable for conference track championships. A new sound system is on way as is a press box elevator and they will continue to spruce up the stadium. I think they could easily expand it if need be (we do not need it yet) and can continue to add amenities (like suites on the opposite side of the press box or increase the size of the pressbox while putting a second desk on the visitor side)... Still SHSU fall short to high school. I'm not surprised.
  24. Correct -- it's an SSS. Soccer specific stadium. For all you Univ of Houston fans on this board, it's known as Robertson North since the Dynamo dominate FC Dallas there! UNLV, if you are going to attempt to compare apples to apples, check out Berry Center in Houston. It says 4 high schools use the stadium for home football. Besides, are you not ashame that the Berry Center, high school, is better than SHSU....You should be...
