I have enjoyed it also, it is High School Football!! Good luck , no one gets hurt and your team wins, oh well 2 outta three aint bad.

FW offense scored 7 points. That seems like a pretty optimistic post for an offense that didn't do a whole lot. Couldn't have been many "pancake blocks". Just saying.... Did you read the entire post? We moved the ball a ton and did not put it in the end zone!! Mental mistakes and unforced turnovers, do you know what that means? You can have over 250 yards offense, which we did, and only score 7 points with the offense. Capice? Wanna watch the film and count the pancakes, at least 10! Sorry that you doubted my credibility - but I was there and you were not. I watched the film and you did not. Next comment?

FW 14-6. FW won much easier than the score. Several drives came up with no points inside the 20 due to mental errors and unforced turnovers. FW offense outgained Dayton by 100 yards. Lots of pancake blocks and decleat blocks by FW, much more physical team tonite. On a FW punt return for a TD, FW kid destroyed a Dayton kid on the sideline, big big big hit, surprised the kid was not hurt, but thank goodness he was not. Good clean game by both teams and fans had fun. See you tomorrow nite in Dayton!

Dayton 50 yard line - Visitors side!! Go Mustangs

Player Saves 22 Kids On Bus...Must Read!

I am proud of him and his family as an American! I think we all hope that our kids would behave the same. Great role model. I wish the bleedorange poster from the post on Thursday practices would read about his fine young man and do some deep thinking about his values! [Hidden Content] -
Great news, he is a special talent!

What ever, feel better? Have a good week. Any reccomendations on where to eat prior to the game?? I am practicing the fetal position so gotta go!

Hmm - I think folks who make statements like that need to look in the mirror. I have no idea what the outcome will be Friday and neither do you. I do know that we were written off before the last two Dayton games and we showed up and played the game, and we were fortunate enough to be on the winning side both times. May not happen this time, but I can guarantee you that I will not be making excuses and the classy Dayton fans that I know did not make excuses the last two years. I made one for them - if I was the coach of Dayton - Dugat would have touched the ball 40 times and not 10 or 15! He was unstoppable! Glad to see he is getting closer to playing for the Cougars - my son attends UH and is a member of the athletic department staff - they are excited about him!

Kirby Bellow.....Will be Back For Baseball!!

Good luck on your recovery from Friendswood. Kirby was very effective in our playoff series vs Nederland - hope to see him again this spring! -
Quote from: txcanes on Today at 08:52:24 AM That is a good one. Sulphur Springs better than Lake Travis. But please, both teams had great runs last year in different divisions. The national and state perception is that Lake Travis and Garrett Gilbert were one of the best teams and players in the nation. I share that perception after watching him dismantle my Friendswood team. I can tell you that Lake Travis was playing at a different level last year. Meanwhile - Friendswoodfan got a little over the edge last year and has started again - if you will remember, myself and another Friendswood rep intervened. Hope it stays calmer this year. We will enjoy the trip up to Dayton and the competition against a great team, do not spoil it on either side with ill thought out comments. Good luck - we will be ready! Go Stangs! Where did your kids go from last years team? Know the qb is at Tech but where did the rest of the kids go? Gautreaux is at Rice - Fitzpatrick is at North Texas, Bergeson is playing Baseball at Galveston Junior College, Thornton is playing College Baseball and our big lineman is not doing anything as of now.

Friendswood also scrimmaged Clear Brook, picked to either finish first or near the top in a tough district, and took care of them handily. Who knows how good either team is, will be fun.

Not sure I understand all of your conclusions! First - FW will have its hands full in 24-4a - Lots of good fast teams! Agree with that! Then you say you look for how JV teams of 08 did and circumstances that have changed with players and coaching? Well - FW JV was 8-0 outscoring teams 344 - 30! Most of those kids are starting this year! New coach - Mustangs got an awesome catch with a new DC - Mullins. Just saying - we could be better than you think! liltex said "FRiendswood #6?They'll have plenty of trouble in district.Upstart teams like Dawson(11/11 O/D)Manvel(10/7 O/D)gave the Mustangs plenty of trouble in 08.Angleton will win it but perrenial powers LaMarque/TX City will make some noise over there. This race will be like the 20-4A race with 4-5 teams contending week by week.As for Crosby(overrated)lost WR-playmaker Xavier Franks(transferred to Dayton)The Coogs return 4 defensive starters that gave up lots of big plays in 08.I could posts some others but what for-Just a prediction-But I have mine too and it is quite differant as I look to see how the JV teams of 08 did.Next circumstances that have changed w/players and coaching."

Just like we do not hear from you much during the regular season. We will be ready to talk basketball whenever you are! Oh - that is right Dayton and BC do not have very good bball teams. But guess what FW does - boys and girls. See we do it all. Sorry for the tone - but the attitude from some of your fans towards other schools, like FW, gets a little old. We will continue to drop in to see how you folks are doing! But from the looks of it, you do not have peace and serenity!!
-
I agree wih the sentiments about school being the priority. You would not believe the number of folks who hold their kids back for athletic reasons. I was 17 when I graduated from High school, turned 18 the summer before college. My kids will have just turned 18 when they graduate. There are many kids who are driving halfway thru their freshmen year and will be 19 and a half when they graduate from high school. They were already older kids for their age group, ie September - December birthdays and got held back. How can I hold a kid back who is emotionally mature and ahead of his group from a reading and math skills standpoint, for high school sports, no way. Yeah he may have had a bigger senior year, but my oldest is now a 19 year old Junior in standing in college, vs a 19 year old senior in high school! Give me a break!
-
It is already the rule. You can turn 19 your senior year but it has to be after December I believe. Geez.

No instant replay is not justified for high school sports. Besides 9/10 refs blow the whistle and call the play dead for the play all are debating in the FW vs BC game, hence no review. In the Waco Midway Longview game - note the classy way the Midway coach handled questions about the call - well done coach - teach the kids accountability! [Hidden Content]
-
Call was made no fumble on the field right away, whistle was blown, Beaumont player ran it back for a TD after the play was over. BC fans are convinced the refs blew the call. BC fans felt the refs called the game slighted towards FW - 5 flags 55 yards, BC 8 flags 75 yards. Lots of noise about this for the past 3 days! Just the background for this guy.
-
Tried to tell you that, but some folks are so convinced of what others tell them without seeing it themselves. this is what I saw when I advanced it frame by frame in slo mo! sorry - but that is not what lost the game for ya. Good luck next year, go Region 3.

Lake Travis vs. Friendswood/UPDATES/LT ROLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
txcanes replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There is no doubt he is a very very good football player. But it takes 22 to tango and while the odds are high - we are going to play the game hard. Both of our teams would have a tough road to hoe vs LT, but both teams , FW and BC, are worthy of the chance - FW won this time and we will give it a go. Thanks for all the support for Region 3! Good luck next year BC. -
Lake Travis vs. Friendswood/UPDATES/LT ROLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
txcanes replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Go Mustangs - lets go get Goliath! Big underdogs - but bigger upsets have ocurred! I thought FW was in the same Region as BC, must be mistaken - I always root for 24-4a teams and Region 3 teams! Good luck next year BC - lots of returning talent and passion! -
Great attitude NDNwarrior - class act - tough game and the kids man up and learn what life is like!! The beauty of the sport. FW 5 penalties for 55 yards, BC 8 for 75. The call on the fumble was correct - he had control of the ball when he was down, ball came out when he was down. Great season BC - remember - folks could come on here and see some of these comments and put several of you in the same category as Friendswoodfan - Like the comments about rich kids buying a game, wow - that was as bad as anything FWfan said. Peace - be proud of your kids - remember is is High School football!!
