The sharks don't get much playing time before district starts, I hope they pick up a few before District starts! I wish the sharks well this season. GO CARDINALS!!!

Tick-Tock.....Tick-Tock..... Can you feel the excitement?

The eight team district should be a lot of fun to watch this season. Everyone knows who the top three teams are. Speculation will be at its finest until September 26. Evadale has a solid team which has improved over the last couple of years but have they developed into the District Champs that some are hoping for? West Hardin & Hull Daisetta have really enjoyed themselves in the 1A ranks with their numbers alone, they could outlast their counterparts in District competition. Both teams have graduated several players, but with Hull returning 9 defensive starters, they should prove to be the distinct front runner. We, as Parents & Fans have high expectations for our respective teams and will cheer with excitement on every snap of the ball with hopes that each players will be the best that they can possibly be at that exact moment in time. Iron Man Football, there are only a few that can do it! The rest have to watch from the side lines!

It is all relative. Of the well over 100,000 student athletes in the state of Texas, the rendomly tested 10% of the athletes in only 400 of the 1300 High Schools in the State & 2 kids or busted the test. Trying to catch a kid that is using steroids, is like trying to win the Lotery. Statisticly, the results show that there is steroid use in High School. 30 to 40 percent of the student athletes will be tested starting in the Fall. Financially, the state will have to take the new information and make a decision on weather or not to continue. Will they choose a different 400 schools to test or will just be another snapshot of the previous testing. Either way, the money will come out of the Tax payers pocket. It looks like 44stack likes a few of his board members, but not all of them.

As with any other group of people, there are those who think they can make their own rules. Please do not lump all School Boards together with specific instances where a Board member has stepped outside his duty and confused a situation. This once again sounds like a communication issue. If someone sees that a board member is stepping over the line, then they have a right to approach the board to inform them of the situation by a board member. Although the Board as a whole does not have to make a comment about what you have told them, all of the board members will at least know that one of them has done something that isn't right. A Team of 8 is a seven member Board and a Superintendent all has eight different personalities and eight different opinions on many issues. As I mentioned in an earlier post, get involved in you Districts meetings. Know what is going on at each campus, do not take someone else’s distorted views or gossip and run with it. The District belongs to the tax payers and the tax payers vote for the School Board. Get involved and make a change or just sit on fence and complain about it, the choice is yours. There are those that do and there are those that complain. Behind Every Successful Student is an Involved Parent. Behind Every Successful District is an Involved Tax Payer.

It sounds like most of you have never even been to a school board meeting. If you truly care about the district you live in then do yourself a favor and get involved in your District. No one will ever understand how the system works until they quit complaining and try to get involved. All meetings are open to the public, by state law and you can request any bit of information from your central office which is also a state law. All I hear are a bunch of parents on here upset about something that has happened to them or something that they have heard through the grapevine. One person or one family can NOT control a school board. They may have influence over the board, but they only have one vote. If you abolish the school board, then who will you have to blame for not getting what you want?

High Island will be represented by TJ Kahla (Sr-C/SS/P), Tiner George (Jr-SS/C/P), Trey Hall (Jr-P/C), Stephen Landrum (Jr-CF).

Will the players get a chance to practice, besides on their on? Will they get any other information from their Coaches?

TJ Kahla is the best Catcher in the District. All the other guys have played well this year, but if you put them through a skills test, kahla would win. tiner George played an excelent game last night catching the first 5 innings. He threw two out at third last night agaisnt HD. good Luck to all in the Play Offs.

I hear you colmesneilfan, except for the Grovton & Lovelady part. It will be good to have the old District back together again. I can't wait till next season gets here. As far as who wins what, time will only tell. To all of the kids on here talking smack, I hope you buckle down quit flapping your gums and start hitting the weight room. Next year is a new season and I hope the best for each team in the District. Good Luck to all the Coaches and each athlete that competes. You have to Love 1A Athletes, most play both ways during football season and play every other sport throughout the year. Ironman Football is the only way to play. Most kids only get to play half of a game, but you 1A boys get to play every second. Good Luck to all the Seniors! Make this year count, cause you will miss it for the rest of your life. Sorry about that DC07, I forgot to include you in the SS race. I have seen you play 3 games and I don't remember seeing many errors.

The kid from Hull is a very good ball player, but I would not say he is the best. I have seen him makes just as many mistakes as the rest of the others that play SS. High Island has a SS that is just as good. Evadale has one as well.

Should be a good game, can't wait to see how it turns out. Evadale has the upper hand right now, but you never know how things turn around. I don't see anyone else in the District beating Evadale this year. Coach Williams has the Rebels hitting on all points right now. Pitching is the key in 1A Baseball and Evadale has a good combination. The Cardinals will give them a run for on Friday! Go Cardinals!

High Island 7 - Hull 6

High Island 14 West Hardin 4 in 5 innings......... Not bad for 3 weeks of no games. The Sharks are next. GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!!

Sabine Pass will do alright this year. Their boys play hard and never give up. The District race looks to be very exciting. Evadale has improved their team this year. Coach Williams has them moving in the right Direction. High Island is also an improved team from last year. A couple of freshman have secured a place on the team and have really been impressive. With just a few more games before District starts, each player seems to be finding a place in their teams line up. Go Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
