1. Griffin leaves GCM for Barbers Hill By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published July 7, 2010 Former Goose Creek Memorial offensive line coach Buddy Griffin recently left the school for Barbers Hill High School where he’ll coach the Eagles’ offensive line. “The main reason it intrigued me was the fact they’re running a triple option type of offense,” Griffin said. “That’s the offense I’ve always been associated with, so that’s the main reason, and the fact is that it’s a good chance to work with coach (Ronnie) Gage. He’s a great coach.” Griffin hadn’t worked with Gage in the past but he knows people that have and he said he looks forward to the opportunity. “We’ve had a lot of the same acquaintances from the past that shared their experiences,” he said. “Some of the people I‘ve worked with knew him very well, and that was part of the connection.” Griffin hasn’t had the chance to meet all of his newplayers yet, but says he knows enough about them that it gets him excited about coaching the Eagles. “I really haven’t had a chance to see all of them at this point,” he said. “The fact that they have all been through spring ball together gives them a jumpstart. I’m really excited about this new opportunity.” Griffin was at Goose Creek Memorial in its first two years of existence, and said the decision to leave was a tough one to make. “I think any time you have the opportunity of coaching, the experiences you gain continue to help you grow as coach,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed every opportunity I’ve had coaching with Coach (Bret) Boyd. He’s running a great program and it was a great opportunity to come in and start new with him. “It was a difficult decision, but I felt like it was a good move at this time, especially with the options in front of me.” Although he will be working in Mont Belvieu, Griffin will still reside in Baytown. Apart from coaching, he will also teach history at Barbers Hill.

 3. All I can say is that the Dayton out coached not out played BH last year. If you didn't see that then you should take the Purple glasses off. Although Dayton was down a QB BH was in controll of that game till after the half then Stewart took Price to school on coaching and how to make an adjustment. I don't think Stewart will out fox Cage as easily. Cant wait for the game!
 4. Only one that I can remember for BH recently. BH vs. West Columbia in 3A @ West Culombia Mason Fisher made a awesome leaping catch in the corner of the endzone with about 8 Seconds left to win the game. Had a chance agaisnt Kirbyville in the playoffs, but blew the game with 25 Seconds to go and 90 yards in which Kirbyville scored and moved on!!
 5. From the Houston Chronicle these are huge accompishment by both schools! In 5A The Woodland won both cups for 5A. For The Brenham high school programs, those three words rang true during the 2009-10 sports season. By winning throughout the fall, winter and spring months, the Cubs shined brightest in across-the-board athletic achievement to claim the 2009-10 Chronicle Cup awards. Brenham is a first-time winner, taking the 4A crown with 118.5 points — just two more than runner-up Kingwood Park. Brenham had a banner year from its team sports programs. In the fall, the football and volleyball teams made runs to their respective state championship games before falling in the finals. But in the spring, the baseball team closed the deal on its seventh state baseball championship. "It was great for our school, great for our town and great for the coaches, too, all the way across," Brenham football coach and athletic director Glen West said. "I think we all fed off of each other." The Cubs finished third in the 4A Lone Star Cup standings. Friendswood won the Lone Star Cup, which also recognizes academic performance, earlier this week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the second straight year, Friendswood stood tallest in the University Interscholastic League. The school was named the UIL’s Class 4A Lone Star Cup winners for the 2009-10 school year. The Lone Star Cup recognizes high schools based on their overall team achievement in athletic and academic championships. All UIL member high schools in good standing are included for contention for the UIL Lone Star Cup. Friendswood had another strong year athletically, but the Mustangs’ academic performance gave them the final boost needed to win their second Cup. The Mustangs won their fifth consecutive state academic championship and eighth overall. Every athletic program in a team sport not only qualified for the playoffs but advanced at
 6. I think the Broncos are going to go 1-2 in preseason with a possible win over Angelton. Ike by 30+ Elkins by 20+ and Broncos by 3 over Angelton. That being said BH will get to deal with a pissed off Bronco team at their house :o Hopefully BH will be settling into their new scheme and give the Bronco's a game. I don't think the Broncos will be seeing a 80-90% running game from BH as Cages teams in the past had a pretty balanced Run to Air ratio, but we will see ;D
 7. North Shore Vs. Houston Madison! Not sure of the year ,but it was my first time to see Vince Young. The game was at the Dome and ended up somethin like 63-61 Madison. Both teams were highly athletic and couldn't stop each other it was just a track meet!!!
 8. Dayton would match up better against these team later in the year. Dayton seems to be a traditional slow starter, but picks up speed once district begins. I think the slow start is all part of Stewart getting them ready though.
 9. I would not base anything that you have seen under Prices BH. I think the new BH will be a different animal 8) I just cannot see the current staff making BH anything but better!
 10. No wonder the grass is so green at the 50 yard line ;D You guys should sell that crap ;D ;D Oh and I don't think I will ever be jealous of Dayton LOL I'm content being from a town that perfoms all year around and not just during football. You never know though if yall win State I just might sell the house and move a Double Wide out there and paint it Purple ;D Dayton will be better that BH this year, but I still think Crosby takes the #1 spot.
 11.
For Lee right now it comes down to not having enough kids in the program. I think they have 7-10 seniors this coming year. They may have had 65 kids total in the spring game I saw. I don't even know if that's enough to field a JV squad.  It's going to be tight. Lee does have some very talented juniors and sophomores right now. They have probably 2-4 D1 athletes and another 4-5 guys that could play at smaller colleges. Then, the drop off is pretty substantial after those top 8 guys.  They don't have a whole lot of those typical pretty good athletes that fill in the holes on a high school football team. They either have borderline college recruits or guys that should be on JV. You know the old saying of you're only as good as your weakest link.  Well that holds true for football too, particularly if you have 8 really good links and 14 weak links. I'm not trying to give an indictment to any of the Lee players.  They all try hard.
Yall be fine! Good news is you don't have to field that in 5A this year ;D
 12.
Vandalism at DHS was done by your people
You mean it was BH football players that took all of them laptops  ??? Then how did the Dayton coach kick them off the team ;D

Crap I knew they shouldn't have opened those apartments! Thanks for the warning :-*
If you don't want to take a Academic beating on your next post try "spell check" ::)
Nah you guys are doing a good enough job spell checking for me  ;D

 15. Riley rejoins Hurts at Channelview By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published June 24, 2010 After spending 17 years at Robert E. Lee High School, assistant football coach Clint Riley is switching jobs for the second time in as many years. The Blanco, Texas, native who was a fixture in Baytown as an assistant to head coach Dic*k Olin, said Wednesday he will coach the offensive line this fall at Channelview, where a couple of former Lee High coaching cohorts are on the staff. Most notable of them is Averion Hurts, who has been head coach of the Falcons for five seasons. He was defensive coordinator at Lee before taking the Channelview top job in 2006. Another is Terry Bunn, who joined Hurts at Channelview in 2006. Riley, a former player at Texas-El Paso and a finalist for Olin’s old job after Olin moved to Lewisville High in 2009, worked last season as offensive line coach in Barbers Hill for Don Price, the former head coach there. “We’ve stayed in touch since they moved to Channelview,” Riley said of Hurts and Bunn, noting the school was a District 21-5A rival of Lee the past four seasons. “They’ve got good athletes. “You always wish the numbers were bigger (Channelview’s 2009 enrollment of 2,285 makes it the fifth-largest school in six-team 21-5A), but hopefully everything will continue on and work well. “And the best part is I don’t have to move, which is a plus.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 16. I rest my case  8) Dayton seems to have a little weenie envy! Don't worry boys football is finially back and Dayton can forget about all of the UIL Athletic and Academic beatings that they took all year. Thank God for Football!! If Dayton loses foose ball they would have even more spare time which would lead to even more in breading and looting of school property ;D ;D ;D ;D
 17.
Notice I said more athletic. I never said better coached. Lee has a lot of individual talents that rarely ever gel into a cohesive team. Lee will be faster and quicker than BH this year. But North Forest is faster and quicker than BH every year too, so it isn't all about being faster and quicker.
There is the nail on the head! The team has to work well with each other or you can have all the speed in the world. Look at La Marque when they have a coach that can make them buy into the process they are unstopable ,but when they don't not so much! As I've said before Lee has made this a better district, but they are down this year according to what I have read. I don't know what the out look for Lee is in the future, but I do know that BH and Dayton have about 4 years of pretty good talent comming up.
 18.
You know life can be tough for BH fans and I know allot of you are actually crying out for help . Its hard living with all those frustrated knotted up suppressed latent homo fixated hot-dog tendencies. But you know sometimes you just have to think outside of the bun hun and quit living vicariously through the real Alpha team in the district  Dayton Bronco's. OK... now breathe out .. doesn't that feel better .
Man yall are jumping all over the hot dog bets  ;D maybe it's true that there is nothing but steers and queers in Dayton...... And I bet you dont have any horns ;D ;D ;D
 19.
There are varying degrees of being good.  Not everyone is going to win have won a state championship obviously. If it's state championship or bust in your mind, then you are in for a long, depressing ride. Having said that, Lee has had some entertaining, talented teams over the past 25 years.  I have been privileged to watch a lot of future college stars as well as a couple of future NFL players. Lee just has a more talented pool of students when it comes to football. Lee has a lot more athletic players than BH this year as well.
Oh I know I have watched and followed the Ganders since Stoener (Sp) I always injoyed watching that offense that Olin put together. If lee has more athletic players than BH this year then it should be an easy win for the Ganders. Oh keep this post handy for after the game and we will see what your explantion is ;D Oh and where do the athletes go after football? I've watched BH beat lee in Basketball, Baseball and every other sport for the past 10 years? hmmmmm
 20.
Yes Lee has....me I would venture to guess Baytown Lee has more graduates that have college degrees than Barbers Hill. Tell me who Barbers Hill has graduated that played at a D1 school. I can't think of any at all... Lee has to have had 25-30 in the past 20 years.
Kenny Robbins UH 90-93. There are some more and someone produced a list at one time, but I don't have it. Oh and if you count Lee College degrees you may be right  on more degrees than BH;D How many state championships did those 25-30 Div I players get ya? DIV I players help, but they can't carry a team in most cases. BH has beaten teams with Div I players while having none theirselves :)
 21. Patriots tinkering with new offense By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published June 22, 2010 Dave Campbell’s 2010 Texas Football Magazine dropped a surprise about Goose Creek Memorial’s offense — the Patriots are switching to the I-formation. “We’re talking about doing that,” head coach Bret Boyd said. “We’ve been in more spread and in the I (formation). We’ll continue to work on it some more in the two-a-days, and see how things go from there.” Last year’s quarterback, Cody Larson, and running back, DeMartie Allen, each graduated, leaving Boyd with big shoes to fill. “Offensively, we’ve got a new group we’re working with,” he said. “So we’re still kind of putting pieces together.” As for finding a replacement at the quarterback position, Boyd said Price Jacobs is the most experienced, but the coach expects his underclassmen to give Jacobs some competition. He expects junior Damon Guillory to take the majority of the carries at running back. “Right now Damon Guillory, who was on varsity last year, has the upper hand, and hopefully some of the other guys will step up and give him some competition,” Boyd said. “At receiver, we’ve got Jeremiah Johnson, Josh Mayes, big guys who might be more of a tight end type of guy so that could help us decide on which formation we’ll go with. “But we’ll probably go with a good mixture of the two.” The biggest factor, Boyd said, is the progress of those protecting the quarterback. “The offensive line is our biggest question mark,” Boyd said. “Other than our center (Clint Welborn), the whole group is relatively new. That will dictate what were run. Right now, it’s unknown until we get in pads and see.” Boyd said he hopes the summer heat won’t keep his team down. “That’s just part of it,” he said. “It’s getting hotter and hotter, and that just something we’ll have to get used to between now and August.” The Patriots will start strength and conditioning camp Monday. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 22.
Has Barbers Hill put any football players into d1 schools since the invention of the face mask? I was actually able to score a photo of the last Barbers Hill team to win a playoff game right after their victory. [img][Hidden Content]]
To answer your question YES ;D Has Lee placed anyone is society that isn't working at a fast food place?
 23. BH-89 I would be careful it looks like in Fraziers words "Your hot dog bets have been just a thinly veiled attempt at picking up dudes on the internet" I think he is the dude that just got picked up!! and now he wants to meet you with $1,000  :o :o Frazier you don't have to pay for it just go out to Montrose and shake what your mama gave ya ;D ;D 8)
 24.
Baytown Carver won state multiple times.... BH has been squatless for 30 years. Been a lot of standing up over there the last 30 years... Haven't even had an S over there, much less the "quat"
Carver????? is that before they made the mascott a GOOSE  ;D ;D  The Olin days are over and he was the only bright spot in Lee's dismal history. Maybe yall should bring back the Brig they could make more noise than Lee will this season.

Anything can happen though seya at Half time and I'll bring my post  ;D
BHFAN You better stock up on the zolaff and rolaids by September 24..... That is the day for BH football fans that the delusions of grandeur come to a shocking reality check and the heartburn sets in...... In case you don't know what happens on September 24, that is the day that BH does not get enough first downs to surpass the number of TD's scored by the Broncos.
Purple you really need to start point the camera in the right direction! I think all of those flashes are starting to get to your brain ;D Can't wait till the 24th hope its a good one  8)
